1021  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What's the best api to use for bitcoin payment project on: May 30, 2016, 10:25:24 AM
Hi,

I want my users to deposit btc funds into their accounts on my website, am exploring 2 ways to do it:

  • Embedding bitcoind into my server: most trustable, but needs 80Gb Disk and 2G of ram for it, and python libs are complex/undocumented
  • Relying on blockchain.info wallet api: simple and quick time-to-market, but they are slow at reponding to my request for an api key access

What do you think guys ?

I use bitcoind for my projects, if you build your system correctly you are only relying on yourself no other third party (Maybe besides the VPS provider). This is the only way I would do it with any project now for the future as I know we have complete control over usage.
1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + logo) on: May 29, 2016, 10:12:47 AM
Team World!

I just committed code to the Apertus.io repository that natively uses datacoin's data field.   Grin

Apertus.io offers decentralized profiles And twitter like functionality to any altcoins based off bitcoin core 0.10.0 and higher.
Apertus offers public\private storage, instant messaging and blockchain web browsing to altcoins based on bitcoin 0.8.0 and higher

Apertus makes Datacoin better because it stripes data across multiple transactions which allows you to store files of any size on datacoin.  You are not bound to the current 128K limit.  It also allows you to create a profile and signature on datacoin to include and use with your etching so other Apertus users can follow and interact with you.

Once you have installed Apertus.io and have it attached to your datacoin wallet just  Browse to the following transaction to download a 5MB .MP3 I just put on there today as a test.

Here is a link to step by step training on setting up your Apertus.io Client

PS: The official release supporting Data coins data field will be compiled within the week. Watch for it here

Thanks for your time

This is amazing work! You have really dedicated time and effort to building this and am amazed at what you have produced. Over the next few weeks I'll be setting this up and testing it.

1024  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Crowdfunding: The Re-Opening of BitcoinStarter.com on: May 27, 2016, 11:30:41 AM
Always welcome these kind of projects. However, unless you re ready to spend massive amount of money on advertising, this is not going to work. There re too many similar websites and projects and in order to have visitors, you need to advertise. A lot.

Definitely - To get active users with ideas coming to the site there also needs to be incentives or such to choose you. You have a good twitter with a good amount of followers what is your plan on advertising.

Do you think you have benefits over Kicktarter/Indiegogo (Besides accepting a range of cryptocurrencies)?
1025  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Crowdfunding: The Re-Opening of BitcoinStarter.com on: May 26, 2016, 08:24:54 PM
Good to see this site up and running, we need a site like this (and hopefully as popular as Kickstarter or Indiegogo)!

1028  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Bitcoin Stickers! on: May 25, 2016, 06:29:33 AM
Thanks for the replies guys, I'll see if I can get a designer to whip up a quick design template with the Bitcoin symbol.

I am looking for bulk purchase to get a good price on them. Thanks.

I'll respond to PMs a little later
1029  Economy / Goods / [WTB] Bitcoin Stickers! on: May 24, 2016, 07:44:26 PM
I am after bitcoin stickers, all different types of them - shapes, sizes, designs etc. I still have bulk bitcoin stickers from CoinFest but am looking for different designs I do prefer the single B logo style.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would like to buy bulk of them around 1000-10,000 of course I have looked at eBay/Etsy/Bitstickers but really need quality and quantity.

Now separately I am wondering if anyone can come up with some designs for stickers using the bitcoin symbol over at --> bitcoinsymbol.org. I would like to get bulk of these printed aswell.

Once I have my collection I would like to distribute these free across the UK, get people wondering what this 'bitcoin' thing is!!

1034  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Crypto Art Gallery - Manchester, UK on: May 21, 2016, 10:14:38 AM
We have some great news for all the artists who have/are signing up for our event and once all is agreed details will be released.

We have also asked each artist a series of questions to make sure we have plenty of information and the correct plans in place to ensure an exciting event.
1035  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: CoinFest UK on: May 20, 2016, 07:20:18 AM
We are now in talks with the Bitcoin communities from Scotland, Ireland and Wales and I am excited at the prospect of collaborating with these communities !

If you live in any of these areas (Or in the UK in general) and would like to be part of CoinFestUK 2017 let me know.
1036  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Crypto Art Gallery - Manchester, UK on: May 19, 2016, 06:22:14 AM
With the amount of artists we have signed up we are going to start to get an idea of how many works of art can be shown at the event, the venue we have in mind might not be adequate for the event so may need to look elsewhere.

Thanks for everyone's feedback we have had already.
1037  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: CLOSED - CoinFestUK Raffle - All proceeds to RNLI on: May 18, 2016, 06:27:23 AM
Thanks to everyone for their support with this raffle and we are very happy how it went.

I'll be writing up this raffle and how it worked and why we run it / donated to RNLI. We had a quote from Luke Williams, the Social Media Coordinator at the RNLI he said:

“We continue to receive regular donations in Bitcoin at the RNLI through our pilot scheme and are grateful for the support we’ve had from both the Bitcoin community and our supporters”

Man you are swift Bates, much appreciated mate. If the 1st option goes ahead, I'm coming to Manchester again and I owe you a bottle ... of whisky and a night on the town. If it hadn't been for coinfest, would not have met my potentially life changing customer.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Today the proposal goes to the customer and it's ours to lose.

Also, as it happens ... PWC offered me an interview today for next week. A coffee chat with the boss ... because proper interviews are for plebs  Grin

Good luck!!
