1901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many alt coins have good explainer videos? on: May 21, 2015, 08:17:00 PM
After all, are we not one community gathered to encourage the adoption of blockchain technology?

Here is DigiByte's video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rmDyhKOjNKM

Great video! My aim over the next few years is to help people understand crypto currencies and the blockchain. In one of my jobs I work with computer scientists and they have no idea about crypto currencies, they struggle to get their head around it! They are much more educated than me. I explained the blockchain to one of them and they are fascinated by it now, fascinated by the possibilities and opportunities
1902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can I trust an altcoin when... on: May 21, 2015, 08:12:19 PM
I wanted to play around with some altcoins but many of the main websites are sketch at best.  For example when checking out UltraCoin, their recommended miner has spyware in it.  What altcoins can you trust?

"Trust cannot be learned, purchased, or acquired-- it can only be earned." -Anonymous

Earning takes time, so asking others for recommendations is probably a bad starting point. Maybe figure out what's most important to you in a coin and then work out which coins have best implemented those features and have the most trust worthy community and devs.

Good feedback. It is hard to find the best place to start. As people state set up a VM, download the wallet, use monitoring tools and keep an eye out. See if others are talking about the coin, see social media and BCT and other crypto websites read up but remember just because a thousand people are raving about a coin doesn't mean its trustworthy.
1903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Altdice.net -Multi coin dice game - Onchain and Offchain - Provably Fair on: May 20, 2015, 11:53:23 AM
Hello everybody.

First, please excuse me for the time I needed to come up with a solution and about my very poor communication.
I took a break because I didn't know how to address the situation. This is the first time something similar happens, I needed time to process the shock and find a suitable solution.
I missed the 1st of May profits payment. I just didn't know how to react.

As I said, the site and I are not going anywhere. I am a responsible person, I will stick to my word, and I'll do my best to find a solution that suits everybody.
The website is running since August 2013 and Altdice is one of the most resilient altcoin dice website over time.

Now, about the event. The offchain dice script was exploited and the site's hot wallets were emptied.
Some coins were stolen. A minor share, but still.

I didn't do the calculations yet, but I believe the stolen amount is somewhere around 1.5-2 BTC.
When that happened, I was unsure of the future of the website. For sure I wouldn't run away with investors funds, but then, what to do ?

I was thinking of selling the website so I can free some of my time and repay the investor without injecting my own funds.
But, I don't really want to give up on AltDice. There is still a lot of room for improvement.

My biggest mistake was to keep the news while I thought of some solution.
I know the first thing I should have done was to communicate about what happened. I am very sorry for this.

What happens now ? Nothing really changes.
I will buy the stolen coins back and cover 100% of the loss.
The profits for April will be paid as they were supposed to be, at the end of this month. So at the end of May investors will receive April and May profits.
Along with the profits payment, I will add 10% of your investment to compensate for the inconvenience and lack of communication.

Also, I will be looking for a new and safe offchain dice script so players can enjoy this game with a large selection of altcoins.

Now that this is posted, I will review and reply to the posts.

AltDice is a legit website. For sure I lack some management skills but I try hard to do my best.
I value honesty a lot, I won't allow that investors who trusted me suffer from any loss of coins.

You don't lack anything, anyone would have panicked and buried their head but not many would have come back! AltDice is an awesome site (Be it a little addictive) but a brilliant service in the crypto world.

Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback to us up to now. We are aiming at releasing the site to private alpha soon and everyone we wish to be part of it will receive a PM with further information.

Thanks again

fantastic ...

will there be a list of implementations that you have done - and are going to do - alongside the alpha release? ...

possibly with a 'suggestions' area? ...

#crysx

Yes we will provide a list of implementations and implementations that are coming in the future (no timeline or dates will be included).

A suggestions area is a good idea! Maybe we could have the area on our site but people can post here aswell so we can get community feedback on their suggestions aswell.

Thanks again for your help

1909  Economy / Securities / Re: [CRYPTO-TRADE] Crypto-trade.com IPO and official thread! on: May 17, 2015, 01:34:44 PM
They've been talking about some servers in Nederlands, so they should have some form of company there, am I right? Maybe if we can get some scammed NL people, they may try to sue them out there?

Good idea!

So Esecurity SA (Koddos.com) own Crypto-Trade but as per the OP this is/was until a new company is registered specially for crypto-trade.com (Did this happen?)

Koddos still seems live but last blog entry for them was Oct 18 2014 on website but last Twitter post was 3 days ago. Twitter does state Holland where website states Hong Kong

We should definitely start digging deeper:

Maybe, they do say near Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I actually have some friends over there so will try to get some local knowledge.

Can we just start spamming KODDOS? They have more in common with this scam then we may think Wink

I used this site for few times and every time everything was ok. I exchanges small amounts from 0,5 BTC to 2 BTC.
Big plus for no requirements like sending passport scan etc.

Thank you for your opinion.

If anyone have technical problems- please use this form http://www.havebitcoin.com/contact/

Any reply to the questions I posted?

Just a quick update, we are currently working on the style and formatting of our text for each crypto. As we said before we will be including coin information for each coin we host but we want to display it in a user friendly way.

Along with this we are tidying up other areas of the site ready for alpha testing

Is crypto trade legit?
It doesn´t look good when I´m reading this thread.

You'll have to make your own mind up.

It doesn't look good and no communication from them makes it worse.

The dev is a trusted member of the crypto community. Just because he hasn't been online for 2 weeks doesn't mean he scammed you!
I'll reach out to him (He rents some servers off me that's how I know him) and see if he replies.

Dear PICISI sponsor,

For a limited time PICISI is offering each PICISI sponsor a FREE article about their entity in relation to PICISI.

Please note that the story need not relate directly to crowdfunding, or cryptocurrency, the most important factor is an informative and compelling story, we will figure out how to include PICISI, Pi, and/or other essentials.

I invite you to take advantage of the opportunity to put your entity, you, or someone else related to your entity in the spotlight.

Contact me via PM or here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1053613.msg11312978#msg11312978

Thanks Armis we will definitely try to write something up, always good to work with you.
1920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoGiveaways.org - Crypto-currency giveaway site - Under Development on: May 07, 2015, 12:44:20 PM
thats a brilliant idea ...

donors are a major part of the giveaways scene - and those donors who donate to such a great site as this will have the recognition involved with it ...

great idea guys ...

let me know when you will be implementing this and we can start the test for the donors that want to donate hashrate and mine instead of just coin transfer ...

that is if you are still interested in this concept of course Smiley ...

#crysx

Definitely, I believe if people wish to donate they should definitely be recognised (If they want). We are looking at maybe having avatars in the 'Hall of fame' where when you donate you can pick which one best suites you.

Thanks for your feedback
