1741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay Forbids Bitcoin for Payments on: July 18, 2015, 04:07:10 PM
A complete bunch of idiots they are, I wonder if this is linked to the eBay / Paypal spilt. Openbazaar.org is an amazing idea and hopefully it will outgrow eBay one day

i think at some point they may accept bitcoin as form of payment. but they might only do so if they see another big company have increased sales due to bitcoin. if it's popular enough, they will surely add it.

That is a big part of the problem though, they will be saying "oh they accept bitcoin, now we should".

1743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Video: Bitcoin transactions - 1 hour time-lapse on: July 18, 2015, 10:22:17 AM
I am intrigued by the dot in the ocean, close to the Sao Tome / Bioko Equatorial Guinea just below Ghana in Africa. I guess it's some Casino operating from a island or something.

Does anyone know, about something operating from that location? Oil rig possibly? I know they have found lots of oil in that region... so it might just be a company doing Bitcoin

mining from a oil rig. This would make for a interesting article, if something like this could be validated.

Very interesting video! I am also very intrigued by the dot in the ocean, I was thinking of St Helena but it seems too far down.

Completed.

Great survey, some very good questions.

My last purchase was some alt-coins!
1746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FAILCoin | Coinmarketcap | alcurEX | EmpoEx | Cryptocloudhosting on: July 17, 2015, 12:55:55 PM
Dear FAILers,

We need your opinions or assistance on something related with our new wallet. Since Twitter changed some stuff, we needed to work on it all over. Now we have this problem:

When "coin control features" are enabled, the wallet becomes too large from the right (you can see that there is a large blank space on Twitter feed). When it is disabled - the wallet looks fine.

Do you think that it is okay to release it as it is, or you think that there is a solution for that problem (add something on the right?)? Please share your thoughts with us!

P.S. There will be also "News" tab under "Donations" Twitter tab. It will pick up #FAILnews hashtag so you will all be informed with our progress, without the need to open forum, website or such. You are just going to click on link to the news if needed.

Cheers,
Spartak

I don't think it is a big issue really, the wallet looks great but the features are brilliant! I think we should release it as is and build on it with community feedback.

Great job!
1747  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anybody getting the nanocard? on: July 17, 2015, 10:05:55 AM
First they need to update their website;

Address: https://nanocard.eu - Message: Coming soon. May 2015

Second it does look very interesting. I may get one to see it working
1748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ING is being hypocritical about bitcoin on: July 17, 2015, 09:40:06 AM
who the hell will use their shitty bank with shitty fees when there are plenty of other alternative with very low fee or zero fee?

so they are not the one between the best banks in terms of offer, and the fact that they are rejecting bitcoin will put even more in bad light

I used to use ING Direct many moons ago but actually switched as the charges and fees placed on my account were ridiculous, this was before the days of bitcoin but I know I'll never bank with ING again
1749  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Backup of encrypted wallets: are they encrypted, too? on: July 16, 2015, 04:05:13 PM
correct me if iam wrong but when you use a passphrase your wallet is safe because an attacker has to know that passphrase. only the wallet.dat is useless.

to be even more safe: you can encrypt that wallet.dat too with software tools.

(i know there should not be any keyloggers on your pc)

That's correct, so before you backup your wallet enter a very strong passphrase and encrypt it! Then you can encrypt with a third party encryption tool (I won't name any!)
1750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who controls bitcoins? on: July 16, 2015, 01:53:50 PM

Can the government shut down the internet? Yes they can!

First, why do you think this?
1751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: App for iOS - finding Bitcoin ATMs in the world on: July 16, 2015, 01:52:12 PM
Great App, downloaded, tested and works brilliant. Picked up the two ATMs down the road from me Smiley

Left a review on app store

I know a Android developer who may be available for work, if you are interested?
1752  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Backup of encrypted wallets: are they encrypted, too? on: July 16, 2015, 07:20:11 AM
I don't believe the file is encrypted as well just protected by the passphrase you protected with (If you added one)

The Backup Wallet feature is just a much less technical way for a user to backup their wallets without having to navigate through user folders and temp folders etc.

I do believe a routine 'Please Backup Your Walket' message should appear in the Bitcoin client or something similar in design.

The Altdice.net main VPS has been taken down for maintenance and depending on the feedback from the engineers will either be placed back online later today or kept offline for a few days.

Thanks

Just reading this, very good article! Worldcoin has had its ups and downs but I do believe it still has a strong team.

Some great news coming out about banks and venture groups finally thinking about adopting bitcoins technology

Not looking good. Any ideas?

I'm not sure. I have contacted Yogg by email and PM several times over the last two months but haven't heard anything back. I do host two Altdice.net servers and am waiting for payment of 2 months which is overdue.

I do have trust in Yogg but like I said I am still awaiting a response.
