I installed Bitcoin Core on my laptop and copied ~22GB of bitcoin data from my PC (blocks folder, chainstate folder, wallet.dat ...) I launched Bitcoin more than 6 hours ago and its still hasn't started. Task Manager shows that its using %60+ CPU and 500-600 MB RAM resources.
Is that normal?
Yes, it usually will take ~1 day to download the whole blockchain. Once downloaded your computer will serve as a full node while QT is open. I think OP has already downloaded the full blockchain, the QT is rescanning now, not downloading blocks.

ok pd is down now. [...]
I'm new to PD. Just had an error message, then boom. Ever happened before ? Kinda worried. It usually happens when there are server updates going on. PD3 is coming??

i dont think thats normal, have you check your connection? because some ISP disallow to mining and include check your account because it same thing find and read new block
Mining have nothing to do with this. The client is most probably doing a rescan of the blocks and will sync with the network after starting up. It also verifies block's authenticity when starting up.

Why play 1% edge if 999Dice has only 0.1% edge. That's a huge difference.Lower the house edge guys!
Um maybe coz 999dice is scam ? Everybody plays where he feels most comfortable doing it. Go advertise somewhere else. I'm not advertiser, just telling you there are better odds sites and asking you to lower the house edge to make a fair game.1% edge is good only for investors and site owner 1) They aren't reputable 2) They are not provably fair.

I hope so
Are you a puppet of OP? Hilariousnco seems like a nice guy, from the few messages that we have exchanged. He's not a spammer. Probably, they have the same registration time. Ask theymos to check their IP. You are a junior member so better behave like one. Even if i have 2IDs the mods cannot ban me, its allowed on the forum to have more than 1 account. However most of the signature campaigns dont allow more than 1id to join their campaign, but its absolutely fine if someone has more than 1account.! And except theymos, badbear can cheack my IP too, although i dont want the IPs to get checked I don't think those signature campaign people would be happy to know of this. But if you can hide under the radar and continue to maintain constructive post on both of the accounts, you might be able to do so. Anyway it isn't against the forum rule to not behave like a Jr member though. Are you blind or what? Cant you see that I do not have any paid signatures! And i am not hiding under the radar and other shit!! Did I specify that you are doing it now?

Actually in the long run, the payout should be more or less the same. Except if the fees are different. I wouldn't recommend OP going for those who charge fee since it takes a portion of the earnings.
I forgot which thread I read it from, could be the official slush pool topic... they were saying slush pool uses a special score based system which penalises slower miners, and miners could receive nothing if their internet disconnects for a few minutes. Will post link if I find the topic... If you compare it with 2 pools with the same payment system and fees, payouts would eventually be the same. Would be interested to read about that.

hi all. The thoughts of my own, if diff higher if someday bitcoin will still be mined? of course, whether there might be a newer generation of hardware anymore? sorry this is just mind I imagined, I was confused to this, diff the higher the chance is getting no results to mine bitcoin
Obviously, if the difficulty is higher, more people would be mining. New ASICs and people with free electricity would come into the mining game. If no one is mining, the difficulty should drop.

I'm actually mining POT (potcoin) on suremine.com and I already got the pc mining on cpu but it's single core so only gets like 1.5khps It already has the card in it and since it's going to be switched on for cpu mining I thought trying to mine on the gpu would be a good idea; the electricity in my flat is free, also With the hardware I have I wouldn't dream of mining bitcoin, but if it's possible to get this card running at all I'd really love the help! Thanks for all your responses so far, what a helpful community Agree with previous post regarding profitability not really being there anymore for GPU mining. If you have free or near free electricity you might want to check out one of the X11 or X13 coins, possibly Keccak (maxcoin), or a scrypt-n coin (vert). Good luck.
How'd I do this? FREEE?? Why don't you buy some hardware and mine it in your flat? Buy some cheap ASICs with good efficiency and you can mine in your flat for free. Trying to save up but for now I'm trying to take advantage, hence the wanting to mine on a 4670 It's every miner's dream to have free electricity, good luck on saving up. There are plenty of coins which are ASIC resistant , choose carefully. There are a lot of step by step guide to setup your miners.

I don't think so. Now FPGA Bitcoin Mining is much more profitable than GPU Mining.
Are you living in a cave? FPGA Bitcoin miners was so years ago, the most efficient is ASIC Bitcoin miners. GPU can hardly make a profit anymore. The last few posts are talking about mining x11/x13 coins rather than bitcoin... AFAIK he said FPGA BITCOIN miners.

That's from USA, I'm from Europe, it will cost 40 euros only the transport
and I don't want to use it for bitcoin, That's why I said scrypt miner
Most of you guys don't even read all what I've wote, and post just because of the advertising signature :|, that's sad
Weren't you gonna exchange it for BTC after mining? If you still insist on not making a profit, try to buy from eyeboot, I know they don't have the latest hardware, but they do offer a good price for their hardware.

Is there any way for those poor fellows like me, equipped with an Intel Dual core 2.2 GHz CPU and no GPU and no Bitcoins in their wallet to buy hashes, start mining some Bitcoin in tiny amounts? Or any other type of service that would run in the background of my PC and generate Bitcoin like ThreadManager ( https://coingeneration.com/ ) and others. OP, please note that coingeneration is a confirmed scam, it does not payout.

|
|
Allright. I'll close this for now, waiting for the payback though.
Should be able to return you the coins within 16 hours when I purchase my coins.

I haven't heard that paypal start accepting BTC. Is it true?
Not true, PayPal hates Bitcoin alot. What we are talking about is exchanging BTC to PayPal with a trusted person. Or an exchange.
|
|
|
I would recommend you to try to use small portion on the funds while use the others to purchase Bitcoins, with the rising difficulty and the rising cost, it wouldn't be profitable for a long time, maybe not even letting you ROI, depending on the rate of ASICs shipped.

. what is the issue ?
. what can i do if i want to maintain 1 activity point for 1 post as the other guy did ?
1) No issues, activity are rised every 2 ACTIVE weeks 2) Post regularly, it doesn't really matter to rise 1 activity per post. Just try to post in some topics every few days.

Is that spammer banned?
He is usually quite constructive, I wouldn't consider him much of a spammer. Either sleeping or outside or since the limits are set for Stunna's signature campaign, he might be on his alts
