Help! I have started pulling my hair out. My computer is a Pentium Dual Core CPU E5300 with an Intel G41 Express Chipset incorporated graphics. I can not get Guiminer to work. Am I screwed with these graphics? If so what should I get that will work but won't bankrupt me? Thanks......Sandy

wooot

why we we want to know that

never CPU mine!

mine with your GPU, it mines like 5x better

CPU is for CPU coins, GPU is for GPU coins so they both have different market
Let's take litecoin as an example. They said scrypt can only be CPU mined, not GPU or ASICs. However, in some time, GPU Scrypt miner was developed and later ASICs. No coin can ever be resistant forever, and not every coin can be a successful coin.

How can i set up an image as profile picture?

It seems like it has been disabled since the forum MITM a few months ago, but i would like to set up one so, do i need a better rank as forum member or is that disabled forever?
Since the last forum hack, the options of setting avatars was disabled permanently for this version of forum by theymos. They suffered a hack which forced them to do so. Forum member group cannot enable your changing of avatars.

^ Your quote doesn't work well.
Also, you claim "There are techniques of guessing what should come next". Looks like you have cracked sha512 lol. Cheesy

Well, "guessing" not knowing.
1) no guessing ever works.
2) no rolls ever affect each other
3) variance happens.
Your bot would not work.

Really impossible to make ROI. ASICs were developed for scrypt and SHA256. Most ASIC resistant coin either have better efficiency using CPU or Difficulty is too high to mine any more and they May be a pump and dump coin.

Could somebody please explain to me what is "rain" often mentioned here - someone giving out free launch? Sorry for my ignorance... Cool
When people win money or just want to be kind, they give donations to the community through games or quizzes. They can also give it out randomly, for example the first few to post an address.

i think you should erase your personal text since PD prohibit it

watch OP

You may not advertise any other sites/threads

I think Personal Text is ok, just not another signature.
Well, his signature is primedice but his personal text is from another paid signature. I don't think Stunna will be happy to see it.
8807  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Vanity addresses? on: July 09, 2014, 11:34:02 PM
There are approximately 120,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 possible addresses that start with 1bitco (that's 1.2 X 1044).

There are approximately 80,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 possible addresses that do NOT start with 1bitco (that's 8 X 1052).

So, for every address that you find that starts with 1bitco, you need to search through on average approximately 666,666,667 addresses.

Able to do the maths for "ojm" Smiley ?

http://bitcoinvanitygen.com/

how do I use it in my wallet?

(Bitcoin-QT)
Use the command: importprivkey (private key here)
Make sure to find one services that allows you to generate split vanity key. If no, the security will be 0 since the server knows your private key.
8808  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to transfer my BTC into cash? on: July 09, 2014, 11:27:32 PM
Yep Localbitcoin's the easiest way to sell btc => cash, especially if it's a bank transfer. Just make sure to check their feedback and ideally sell to an account that has a phone registered, real name etc

it takes time to arrange something with the trader

it's much faster just to sell on bitstamp, you have your money in seconds..
Not really. It's just trading fast. In reality, if you need the money urgently, and you didn't verify your account. Localbitcoins is the best option.
8809  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU Mining. on: July 09, 2014, 11:25:50 PM
GPU will never be profitable on Bitcoin. The difficulty to mine it is just going to get higher.

Use GPU on alt coins with X11 algos and the like.
There may be some profitability but their difficulty will also increase and their value can also be quite low. You might never ROI.

After a nice experience with XBTec i'm back again with Primedice:

(Postcount also here just for reference, this trick has saved me lot of headaches)
Address: 1BbnT9vzTUNw9hJaTfZKHr6n1z9qX4osLn
Start postcount: 2588

How come some people post 'postcount = XXX' and 'activity = YYY', not the same number. Can someone explain to me how activity is not the same as post count?

Activity is capped by your total online time, so there's the case that post count > activity.
It's hard to believe you are a Sr member without knowing anything even after posting so much. A post every 14 days will increase your activity limit. People can make posts in a few minutes upon logging in. People can post 1000 post but their activity will still be small if they didn't post at least a post within a 2 weeks.
8813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Running two different graphics cards for mining? on: July 09, 2014, 11:12:07 AM
nVidia and ATI cards don't typically play well together.  You'd want to stick with similar brand cards, at least.  If possible.

Do you think it's risky to my rig to install them both and give it a shot?

I'm curious, what coin are you all mining with graphics cards?

Gonna be trying Litecoin, CornedBeef.

That's cool. I've got a few litecoin.

I'd try your hand at a non-Scrypt coin.  Perhaps one of the X11 coins like Darkcoin.  Scrypt is really hard to GPU mine anymore tx to ASICs...
Not really, those coin's difficulty are really rising up high. You still have to cover electrical and hardware cost. It might not be possible to ROI.
8814  Other / Meta / Re: Account stolen on: July 09, 2014, 11:09:56 AM
There should really be a sticky of what to do when your account is stolen and how to recover it. Where to send a PM with your bitcoin address. How to sign a message. etc.

Would cut down about 25% of posts in Meta

I am afraid that it won't work.
There is a sticky thread here in Meta section talking about "activity", and another sticky thread in Newbie section talking about the 360s post limit, but we still have people asking about those questions again and again...
Most newbies think that the stickies are too long and don't have time to read them. When they have any problems, they ask immediately without reading anything from the forum.
8815  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice on paper wallet on: July 09, 2014, 11:08:31 AM
You choose great option to laminate paper wallet i must do it with mine, because this way they will last forever almost compare to paper alone
I really advise doing so. Spill something on that paper alone and you're done. Plus, laminating it gives it extra durability. Of course, you should always have more than one copy. You never know what might happen.
I don't know if it is just me, if you fiddle with the edge of the plastic too much, the lamination plastic can be damaged and the private key can be unreadable.
8816  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: USB Miners on: July 09, 2014, 11:06:30 AM
You can try your luck by mining BTC by solo, if you get one block, would be great
The time taken to generate a block by solo mining using a block eurpter can be a few hundred years. By the time, your money cannot cover the time, effort and money used to generate it.
8817  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU Mining. on: July 09, 2014, 11:04:40 AM
It is still profitable, as long as you find the right coin to mine
No longer. Practically, if one coin us profitable, more people will start mining it and the difficulty can increase a lot. The coin can also be a pump and dump coin.
8818  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 08, 2014, 10:36:51 PM
i would have stayed with PD if they done bi weely though hate waiting a month for my payments but I might have t come back well, lets see what happens.
For most, PD is most reliable. People will trust Stunna with monthly payments as he have such a good reputation. Everyone would rather be more organised and use a campaign that pays weekly than a campaign with not so good reputation but pays weekly.
8819  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a 0.01 BTC loan on: July 08, 2014, 03:00:34 PM
Will be returning this loan most probably tomorrow or latest by Thursday, my computer isn't working , using my phone now. I will cover all the interest.
8820  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: USB Miners on: July 08, 2014, 02:55:32 PM
Sorry for the question, but is it possible to mine some altcoin and new poped coins with these usb miners?
Depending on the type of algorithm used for that crypto. You can use Bitcoin Usb miners for Sha256 coins and Litecoin USB miner for scrypt alt coins. You might still not be able to ROI though.

Interesting. I didn't know they had scrypt USB miners. I thought all USB miners were SHA-based.
Yup, they were out long ago. Slow speeds, but still low powercost. http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/dualminer-sha-256-scrypt-usb-miner/2014/02/26
