2261  Other / Meta / Re: DONATE SOME BTC TO BITCOINTALK.ORG on: September 01, 2011, 07:42:34 AM
I will donate to Bitcointalk when all other CoinTalk is booted out to find their own forums.
2262  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / PING: ATI OEM's - Get with the times. on: September 01, 2011, 07:30:07 AM
Why haven't any ATI OEMs jumped on the mining or standalone parallel processing device bandwagon yet ?

If Nvidia can build a Tesla by eliminating the monitor connection, most of the memory and adding multiple GPU cores, why hasn't anyone in the AMD/ATI camp yet ?

Could you imagine an HD 6990 based 'SuperComputer/Mining/Parallel Processing' version that was still DUAL GPU, had only 512 RAM (256MB/GPU), NO MONITOR SUPPORT and sold for $300 USD ?

Why couldn't this become a reality ?

It seems as though Nvidia has EVERYTHING in their favor, except for performance in Mining.
- Direct-to-End User Sales (BFG, eVGA etc) so NO RETAIL STOCK/SUPPLY CHAIN RISK ISSUES.
- Already have the Tesla....
- More OEM variations, less strict manufacturing/licensing policies ?
- Being the #1 Video Card Chipset Giant doesn't hurt......

Where is AMD/ATI's forward thinking ?

For a smaller company, owning less market share...one would think that they would take every opportunity to get money where they can.

Someone needs to contact them and bring them up to speed....lol
2263  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Beating Trixx into submission - No Clock Sync @ 4 Cards on: September 01, 2011, 07:07:55 AM
I decided to give the latest Trixx software a try, as I have always used Afterburner but with Beta expiry, I am tired of upgrading.

Anyways, I could not get it to sync GPU or Mem clocks on any of my machines I tried it on with more than 1 GPU, even using the 'SYNC' feature.

Is there a trick to this ? as some cards show up as 1x, 4x, 8x, 16x etc. Afterburner doesn't seem to mind this and works PERFECT, but Trixx will NOT sync these cards and I do not want to have to set each card manually in the list.

GPU-Z (latest) confirmed both, that Afterburner worked and Trixx failed.

Please help,
Thanks.
Allan

2266  Other / Meta / Re: BITCOIN forum on: August 30, 2011, 09:50:49 PM
Nothing wrong with a free market, competition can help.
You are right...but let them create THEIR OWN MARKET and quit riding the coattails of Bitcoin.

Like someone said, one of them has wallet encryption already.....
Are you refering to SC ? If so, then you obviously haven't tried the Window's Client as it is about as stable as I recall my mother being, when I was younger, for 7 out of every 30 days before the BIG CHANGE.....lol

Either way one looks at it, THEY DON'T BELONG HERE.

Ford doesn't support, or do marketing for Chevy.....and on the flipside, Pepsi doesn't market PEPSI-FREE against DIET-PEPSI.
2267  Other / Meta / Re: BITCOIN forum on: August 30, 2011, 11:05:15 AM
I am happy to see support for this.

Now, the question is, WHO DO WE TALK TO ?
2268  Other / Meta / BITCOIN forum on: August 30, 2011, 04:56:29 AM
Perhaps this has already been beaten to death, but I will post none the less.

With recent drops in USD/BTC prices and being an avid Bitcoin supporter/Miner/investor, I am tired of seeing other cryptocurrencies getting a free ride on the busiest Bitcoin forum on the planet.

Why are the founders/Mods/owners of this forum allowing other currencies to get fame in the spotlight, all the while, gaining ground on BTC ?
They should all have their asses booted out of here, to their own forums. Why spread decention or doubt here ?

This forum needs to shake it's collective head.

YMMV.

I'll just head over to the GM forum to see how the Toyota sub forum is doing, in light of it being common practice.....ISN'T IT ?

BITCOINTALK.org = BITCOIN TALK ......NOT thisCOIN, thatCOIN, thisweeksCOIN, nextweeksCOIN.

....or perhaps....after a brief translation....

how can I receive my oustanding rewards on mtred ?
Wait for 120 confirmations (as detailed on the 'My Rewards' page) like the rest of us, then go to the PAYOUTS page and hit the pay button (manual) or, it may send to you automatically depending on your settings in your MTred profile.

...or perhaps you meant something completely different, in which case, my English & Mindreading combined is only so good.....
2270  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: More RAM = faster mining on: August 26, 2011, 12:47:07 PM
Perhaps the result of the PCIe Payload setting in the system bios being dynamic based on overall available system memory ?
2271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Do we bring the value of BitCoins back up? on: August 26, 2011, 10:37:40 AM
SilkRoad + Oxycontin = Current BTC value x3 Wink

Wasn't the big bump to over $25 USD/BTC was due to speculation of drug availability ?, we should embrace the subculture, as it directly benefits us.....lol
2272  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: A sticky would be nice for those just starting out on: August 26, 2011, 10:13:22 AM
The Bitcoin Wiki is by far the BEST Information Resource, as it ends up pointing back here most times anyways and is very organized.

Click into here and just 'surf' around from link-to-link: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Pooled_mining

Pay CLOSE ATTENTION to the SEE ALSO: and EXTERNAL LINK: sections at the bottom of each topic page Wink
2273  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help me re-evaluate my setup - PPS or PROP on: August 26, 2011, 10:10:40 AM
Aaahem,

what is PPS and what is PROP Pool?

Link plz for definition
Pay Per Share vs. PROPortional payouts from Pooled Mining.

2274  Bitcoin / Mining support / Help me re-evaluate my setup - PPS or PROP on: August 26, 2011, 10:00:56 AM
I keep reading that everyone swears by PPS Pool mining payouts, but I have never done it in a Pool. I have been mining for a couple months now and have only really ever experienced the payouts from PROP Pools.

Lately, I have been averaging things out and even though the Mob says "Prop is for fools, PPS is a no brainer" (paraphrasing of course), I just can't see how I can make more using PPS ?

On average, I generate roughly 2400+ shares/hour (based on a week or so of data). I also belong to an EXTREMELY lucky, smaller pool that offers both payment types, but I have been rather hesitant to switch over to PPS because the math just doesn't add up....for me anyways....and I am quite happy with things the way they are - but payment type chatter/speculation is contagious and spreads like wildwire...lol

On an average day of mining for me, I am by no means a 'heavy hitter' and actually get my ass kicked on shorter rounds, but after an hour, when the pool jumpers all leave, I have enough power to re-claim a decent amount of value for my shares and often times, see my end-round payouts actually double+ (if that makes sense) when comparing shorter 1hr-or-less rounds to 2+ hour rounds. Because of this, even though I am using PROP payment, I still benefit just as if I were using PPS in longer rounds, which is why I haven't felt the need to do anything different up until now.

Could someone who has crossed this bridge already perhaps chime in and help me out ?

Cheers,
Allan
2275  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Stability testing OC'd Cards on PCIe x1 extenders/slots on: August 25, 2011, 04:30:31 AM
Like the topic says... Stability testing Cards on PCIe x1 extenders....

It's not like I can run a 'Graphics' oriented program to stability test an overclock (can I ?), so what does everyone else do ?

Is there something like a prime95 or IntelTestBurn/LinPack for Video Cards ? something NON-graphical ? Command Line perhaps ?

Cheers,
Allan
2276  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Motherboards: What Works w/Four or More GPUs? List Them on: August 25, 2011, 02:07:36 AM
WHAT WORKS
Motherboard Brand: Every Gigabyte/Asus/Intel x58/LGA1366 Motherboard I have tried (P6T/Reg/Green/Deluxe, Gigabyte UDx?)
Motherboard Model & PCIe Slots: (above)
Power Supply Brand & Model: Depends on cards used.
Number & Model GPUs: 4x 6870's, 4x 5770's, 4x 6950's *All matching, not tried mix/match*
Extender Cables w/Molex Power?: No Power, x1 & x16 passive cables

All of my Mining Rigs are X58/LGA1366 based setups, due to having a shit-ton of money invested into the platform anyways, Refurb Motherboards are often cheap from NCIX and 60w-80w Engineering Sample LGA1366 Xeons are dirt cheap in Dual & Quad-Core configuration.
2277  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Guiminer not detecting 2nd graphics card on: August 25, 2011, 02:00:31 AM
Not even close to enough info on your part.....

Windows ? Linux ? Dummy Plugs ? Bueller ?
2278  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: power 2 pc psu with just 1 socket? on: August 25, 2011, 01:59:14 AM
You should inquire to see how many AMPS your socket will be. 10W is standard for most, 15+W sockets are sometimes a premium depending on the datacenter....then do your math accordingly.
2279  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [NR 1] Triplemining.com <> BIG jackpot every week <> on: August 24, 2011, 12:39:41 PM
cuqa, while i truly appriciate your acitivity in this thread, i would suggest that you take your nonsense somewhere else, so we can keep this thread for people actually mining on our pool.

As noted on the official bitcoin wiki's, all shares and block information is public available so that accusations by morons like yourself would have no impact on the pool.
That's all you are going to comment on ?
2280  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [NR 1] Triplemining.com <> BIG jackpot every week <> on: August 23, 2011, 03:48:16 PM
So...Is no one going to reply to this ?

I think the owner was a bit detached from reality with his grandiose 3-hour-10-block 'promo'.
See, THAT was only for the SECOND card. In the IRC channel, it was CLEARLY STATED that a 6990 was laying in wait to be given away during this Flash Mob deal and further cards would be made available after each 10-block solving frenzy.

I was sure to ask MANY questions and was told in no uncertain terms that a 6990 was available TO BEGIN WITH, then a second card added AFTER 10 blocks were solved. The reason I asked so many questions was due to current shares being worth NOTHING and the only thing that new miners would do was to help get current miners who have been wasting their electricity, PAID FASTER...or, once and for all. THIS IS WHY A 6990 WAS BEING MADE AVAILABLE TO BEGIN WITH....TO TEMPT PEOPLE TO GET INVOLVED, otherwise, it would have simply been charity, helping them get over this block so that they could get paid and the REAL power would get almost NOTHING for their efforts for that block.

WHAT A SCAM.

It is pleasant to see that Karma is playing it's part, as they are STILL mining the same block that prompted this last-ditch effor at salvation from the masses.

347 hours and counting......Tripletiming, I mean Triplemining deserve this.
