2041  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.0 on: December 27, 2011, 12:46:15 PM
In Windows (x32 & x64) Mixed card Rigs (ie. 5770 + 5830) will fail startup if using CGMIner to overclock......it simply won't build the new BIN files to startup, only the fist card will work.

Remove overclocks, startup ONCE, builds new BIN files for all cards/chipsets, then quit, re-apply overclock and it will work as per normal.
Yes, I've never been able to figure out why it fails to build bin files reliably on windows. Certainly starting without overclock might be helpful, but no workaround seems 100%. If all else fails, copying the bin files from a previous install will work as none of the kernel code has changed in quite a long time. That will likely change (i.e. new kernel) with the new 2.6 SDK and 79xx cards in the future.
This is the first time I have run into the problem. 2.0.8 and everything before has worked for me.

Actually, I first noticed the problem when testing the first 2.0.8Z/API version a couple days ago.

Regardless, this miner kicks ass and if initial startup/config is all I have to worry about, I am happy.

Even though the config exists now, I still startup using BAT files so that I can set CPU affinity....BAT files still seem easier than f$cking with the config file.

2043  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $700 (was $500) — Butterflylabs, is it for real? (Part 2) on: December 26, 2011, 07:37:09 AM
This thread is about speculating on if their product is real or not. Read the topic title.  BFL can make their own thread and I wont post there as anything I post would odds are be off topic.
Right..... and having the scammer tag constantly thrown at them is SSSooooo productive, right ?
How's that helping with speculation and their general response to the forum that has done all but actually/physically SHIT on them ?
2044  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Bulk 5970 w/ Copper Water Blocks on: December 26, 2011, 07:11:45 AM
Any chance of selling them in OEM Spec with Fans/Heatsinks ? 10 water cooled cards is going to be a tough sell in a few batches, let alone 1 or 2.
2045  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $700 (was $500) — Butterflylabs, is it for real? (Part 2) on: December 26, 2011, 07:07:21 AM
Their claims have already been proved to be false. The only idiots were the ones that didn't question those claims. It's unlikely we're done finding problems with BFL.
YES, BY THEIR OWN DOING/TESTING....NOT BY YOU OR ANYONE ELSE HERE. Their testing has lead to a re-evaluation of things, not the MOB and it's attack on them.

Why not just let them be ?
Do they really need to be investigated ? their business location checked on ? grilling the 'public' persona of this company ?
Why not let them get a piece of equipment on the market, then critique it ?

They have clearly made claims to the contrary, to which they are coming to terms with now and have already offered 'a way out' for those TWO PEOPLE? that have made deposits, by way of FULL REFUND or CONTINUING with their orders after specs have been finalized.

I bet this thread would get really quiet if it were to be reserved for only those who have made a financial stake in their product.

Everyone is fighting over paper specs and speculation, not to mention, how many of you would walk into a Chevy dealership and scream at the Receptionist if the Corvette failed to make it's advertised power on a Dynometer ?
2046  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Free .05 BTC] Just call 1 866-283-6183 and be the 10th caller on: December 26, 2011, 06:33:12 AM
There is something very wrong with your thread title......

How exactly is this a GAMBLE if you are advertising something as FREE ?

Quote
[Free .05 BTC] Just call 1 866-283-6183 and be the 10th caller
WTF ?

Just to be clear, is it in fact:

Quote
[Free .05 BTC] Just call 1 866-283-6183

OR...should it read:

Quote
.05 BTC to the 10th caller, Just call 1 866-283-6183

There's a pretty big difference between the 2.

Just for the sake of being one of those guys that doesn't make a habit of talking shit over the internet and would say much worse to someone's face......

I hope this product turns out to be the greatest piece of Bitcoin mining hardware available, making every finger-pointing cry-baby douche bag in this, as well as the previous thread look like a complete idiot......and are somehow denied the opportunity to ever purchase one....and contract either gonorrhoea or syphilis.
2048  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitcoin.exe/bitcoind.exe on win32 and more than 9 miners on: December 26, 2011, 05:50:09 AM
Does this maybe have something to do with the XP 10 half-open TCP/IP connection limit ?
Apply one of the many available (re-branded LVLord scripts or whatever) TCP/IP Patches and nuke the 10 half-open limit and up it to 100 (or something close to that) and see if that helps.

What does your bitcoin.conf file look like ? What is the MAX RPC Connection limit ? RPC Timeout Value ?

My 'Solo Server' is also a Windows box, but in Server 2008 32bit flavour and I run 15+ cards, with 2-3 threads per card (using CGMiner) to it without any problems, although it took me some time to fine tune things - but it works great now.

Start with the basics above and make sure all bases are covered.
2049  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter miner (FAST, cool GUI, zero installation, Windows/Linux/Mac) on: December 26, 2011, 05:17:04 AM
Does this miner work on other pools, or just your own ? What about backup pool support ?
2050  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1117 GH] BTC Guild - Pure PPS Merged Mining, LP, SSL, Instant Payout on: December 26, 2011, 01:58:30 AM
In the BTCGuild Hall of Fame, does each User's 'Found Blocks' count include NMC & BTC ? or BTC only ?
2051  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: What does it take to start a pool? on: December 26, 2011, 12:02:44 AM
If you search the Software or Development Forums, you will find a complete Open Source Mining Pool setup package in there. I believe it uses the author/developer's Adsense account or something like that to generate revenue, so he'she'they can freely give it away.
2052  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / The Bitcoin App/Wallet on: December 25, 2011, 03:33:39 AM
Why is it that nearly EVERY fork of the original Bitcoin project, or ALT crypto-currency, HAS A BETTER APP/WALLET THAN THE ORIGINAL ? (ie. Bitcoin itself).

Better looking, more functionality......what's the deal ?

Obviously, every fork (or PUMP & DUMP) needs to look good out of the gates, but why does it seem that the Bitcoin App/Wallet itself is such a boring looking/functioning POS ?

I can only attribute what I have noticed, TO GREED and greed alone.

Everyone wants to get paid. Everyone wants to be an early adopter with 1,000,000 of the crypto-currency of the day and it looks like the creation of a fancy looking wallet helps their cause.

If everyone worried about a payday would simply put their talents to use on the original Bitcoin project and do 'Bounty Work' perhaps they would get paid rather than diluting the pool with another 'currency of the week', just to make a quick buck.

Bitcoin will always struggle and most other crypto-currencies will fail (and come and go just as quickly) because of this.

What a joke.
2053  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: NamecoinGUI (with bitcoin support) - v0.5.0.18 on: December 25, 2011, 03:23:34 AM
Any further news or development on this ?

I have been using it for a couple months now and love it. Much better than CMD Line and best of all - IT WORKS.

Thanks again.

Definate connection problems here.

My miners keep switching over to my failover pool - fans keep spinning up and down.
2055  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1100 GH] BTC Guild - Pure PPS Merged Mining, LP, SSL, Instant Payout on: November 15, 2011, 11:00:45 PM
Very nice pool. Is there another pool with pure PPS and lower fees Roll Eyes ?
Very nice post. Is there another 900+ post user that is as oblivious to stickies and thread titles in the 'Pool' section as you Roll Eyes ?
2056  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - updated Aug 24 with new miner versions on: November 15, 2011, 02:13:58 PM
Although I haven't used it in a long time (as CGMiner has been my miner of choice for the last few months):

You need to manually edit the config file and remove/edit the 'grid' info... once you see it, it should be pretty self explanatory.
This essentially says where GUIminer will 'open up'....

Another (easier) Fix, would be to update your driver to anything newer than or including 11.8, then REMOVE all dummy plugs.
Get rid of the 'extended' desktops, as they are not needed anymore.
2057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Win32 namecoind is done justice when combined with NamecoinGUI on: November 15, 2011, 05:51:42 AM
After a few block chain deletes, some reboots and the installation of NamecoinGUI, I am much happier with how things are working......for a Windows user that is.

I changed the title of this thread to reflect my current struggle becoming less of a....struggle.

Although I still notice namecoind not staying up to date enough to use for solo mining, I simply run it when I need to (unlike the bitcoin app that runs 24/7) and it seems to update things upon loading a new instance and will stay up to date for a block or 2 before it goes to 'sleep'......

Still, better than what I started out with.

Hey eleuthria, thanks for the Hall of Fame 26th Row....I appreciate it.

You might want to check out the 'Blocks Found' portion, as when I was in top 25 of 'Blocks found', it read "2" (as I found 2 blocks), but now that I am below 25, using the 26th row, it shows "2.00 mh/s".
Just thought I'd give you a heads up.

Thanks again.

Whoops, fixed Smiley.  I haven't found any blocks since the last reset, so I didn't see the typo/copy paste error.
fixed...

Now there's NIGERIA COIN!
Will it use a peer-to-peer network to email me with propositions of multi-million dollar Bank transfers with funds locked or in probate due to civil warring countries, deaths, any general governmental unrest or anything of that nature that will require me to reply with up-front wired funds, credit card information as well as my SIN number and all personal info.......will it ? IF SO, COUNT ME IN Wink
