1981  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [349 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: January 06, 2012, 05:11:55 PM
When you sign up for Eligius, the terms state you will be paid X BTC per share and Y NMC per valid share you submit.  NO WHERE does it say that the shares will be used for the exclusive purpose of advancing the bitcoin and/or namecoin blockchains.

What YOU are basically saying is that, it's nobody's business what the hashing power is used for, as long as it is partially used for BTC......
The Pool Op can do whatever he/she chooses to do with it....WITHOUT the miner's consent.

You almost got it..

What I'm saying is that for all PPS pools, you are being paid for shares.  Those shares can be used however the pool wants.  Hell, some pools pay you for stale shares just because they want to.  You do work (make shares) and get paid for it.  How the work is then used is up to whomever bought it in the first place.  If you don't like those terms, find somewhere that has more agreeable terms to you.

That's a set of KEEPERS.....quotes that will live in infamy.

....and once again, I propose (using YOUR rationalization of fair use that is)

I hope you unknowingly sign up at a pool that uses YOUR hashing power to crack Government site passwords as well as re-encode Child Pornography videos for web publishing.... and your IP is logged as being part of the 'hashing power'.........but hey, as long as you get paid in BTC and NMC for each share, who cares what else is done with your hashing power, right ?

How could someone be as THICK as you ? ......you seem to have no clue.

Where on the pool site does it support what you just said?
Are you an idiot ?
....as an example: WOULD YOU DONATE SUPPORT, TIME OR MONEY TO A CHILDREN'S CHARITY IF THE MONEY/PROCEEDS WERE BEING SENT TO WAGE WAR IN IRAQ INSTEAD OF HELPING CHILDREN ?

When I donate to a charity, I make sure they guarantee/describe what the money will be used for. If I later find out they broke that guarantee, I could take action, either demanding a refund, suing in court, etc.

WELL THEN, it looks like Luke's miners have a grievance to file, in regards to THEIR hashing power being used in a malicious fashion, for Cyber Vandalism MERGED with Bitcoin and Namecoin mining, RIGHT?

Their hashing power is directed to the pool and managed as a TRUST.....to be used as described, for what the miners officially 'signed up for'...

I honestly can't wait for a smart pool op to further merge password cracking for his own means, using his pool's hashing power without their knowledge. Now THAT will stir up a huge shit storm.

What YOU are basically saying is that, it's nobody's business what the hashing power is used for, as long as it is partially used for BTC......

So it looks like he deleted my thread and then went offline.

If this is the case, it's a complete miss use of MOD powers and the Forum Staff should strongly reconsider his status as a MOD.

Miners that got abused by Luke have all the right to leave him if he stole some hours of their mining profit but they should look into their contract. I doubt there is any guarantee to get actual bitcoins for mining at Eligius.

Merged mining.  No wasted hashes.

It does say that for every share you provide, you get paid a certain amount of BTC.  It doesn't say he has to use it for Bitcoin or anything else.  He could pay you in bitcoins and use the hashes for solidcoin if he wanted.
NO, no he couldn't, as users would simply object on principal alone....that they were being forced to mine/support a project that they chose NOT to, or have no say in.

Yeah I would like to hear the reasoning as to why it was deleted.  Seems to be an abuse of mod power to me.  I still have a copy of the first page in my browser window.
Could you please PM me my first post, if you don't mind ?

blah...blah...blah...
gmaxwell .....
Why was My thread in regards to "Pool Ops being the new Alt Coin Police" DELETED from the Pools Forum ?
1989  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [349 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: January 06, 2012, 04:36:18 PM
My thread in regards to "Pool Ops being the new Alt Coin Police" has been DELETED from the Pools Forum.

Censorship at it's finest.

I feel as though I am about to be banned....and I guess that makes sense, considering this forum allows scammers of all sorts to thrive in the Marketplace without consequence, yet a LEGITIMATE POST in regards to a malicious act of vandalism is deleted from view.

Par for the course, as it seems.
Just in case this is my last post, thanks for the memories.

I'm not sure why your post was deleted, I wasn't the mod to do it.  If anything it should have just been moved.  It may be undeleted in the future, but only an admin can do that.
Well, it was ON-Topic, it contained factual quotes.....yet it was deleted. I don't understand ?
1990  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [349 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: January 06, 2012, 04:30:25 PM
Me too.
The only problem with that is, you are another LukeJr-cronie-d-bag.....you can't benefit from both sides of the fence.

Actually, if you actually knew me, you'd know that I disagree with Luke about most things.  Ask around, most people in #bitcoin-otc/#eligius will confirm it.  Just because I happen to disagree with you doesn't mean I'm a Luke cronie.  Calling me a d-bag is just juvenile.

You guys win anyways........

How hard would it be for any other Ayatollah to do to bitcoin what the bitcoin Ayatollah's are able to do even to chains that are pretty much identical to bitcoin itself?

It would be much, much harder to do a 51% attack on Bitcoin. The only reason this attack was even possible was because of merged mining from a major pool; there is no bigger hashing network than Bitcoin that one could leverage in such a way.

We can launch a cryptocurrency wrong and watch it fail every day of the week. I could make a plane that doesn't fly, too. Does that mean we must abandon planes?
Well, as much as he cried and whined about Litecoin being another scamcoin, it seems safe from his exploits, as he doesn't have the power or resources to attack it the same way as Coiledcoin.

OK. I want to be paid 0.00006 per share then I will mine wherever you want Smiley
Payments will be made in CLC.
1994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DEAD] Coiledcoin - yet another cryptocurrency, but with OP_EVAL! on: January 06, 2012, 04:06:29 PM
I'm not going that far to start mining but it certainly is hard to see any difference in the scummyness of both at the moment..
Isn't it a little easier now to better understand Coinhunter's frustration ? ...and views of the Bitcoin project ?
1995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DEAD] Coiledcoin - yet another cryptocurrency, but with OP_EVAL! on: January 06, 2012, 04:03:59 PM
Taking down bitcoin could maybe be paid for with bitcoins. It might just take some seed capital to throw together 51%+ hashing farm, which could then pay for itself plus make profit plus bring down bitcoin once the desired / targetted profit has been made.

-MarkM-

OR, we could all simply subsidize miners with additional BTC/USD and coax them into mining at Deepbit......
1996  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [349 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: January 06, 2012, 03:59:31 PM
Remember that hypocrisy when someone does it to bitcoin.

This is one of the primary reasons I do not mine on DeepBit.

Right now, it seems highly unfeasible for a new/unknown 3rd party to come in overtake the whole of the bitcoin network.  It is still possible however, but I think the community would turn on more miners to prevent that from happening.

I am going to begin offering to pay people out of my own pocket to mine on Deepbit....just to watch everyone squirm.

It still boggles my mind that you are defending Luke's actions.....WTF is wrong with you ? seriously ?
1997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DEAD] Coiledcoin - yet another cryptocurrency, but with OP_EVAL! on: January 06, 2012, 03:52:38 PM
.....hell almost makes me want ....... SC to succeed and kill BTC off.
I for one, am all for that as well. It's funny how after months of reading posts written by the BTC Gods, against RS/CH/whatever...that I FINALLY find myself able to understand his frustration and views on Bitcoin and the project as a whole.

Up till yesterday, I simply thought he had a bad attitude, although I always saw merit in his skills and continuously posed questions such as "If he could keep his Ego in check, don't you think BTC would be better WITH HIM, rather than without him, leaving him as a competitor rather than a contributor ?".

Well, now I know that is not possible, because there is only so much room at the head of the 'BTC Table' as it were......and regardless of how big RS/CH's Ego is, it still pales in comparison to some others in this community. Atleast he codes and runs a project. WTF does everyone else do, that is of great consequence, or that can compare to what he does solo ?

If I had to deal with all of the douche-nozzles on a constant basis, putting down MY work, then begging me for bug fixes prior to them going public, as to not exploit BTC.....I'D BE PISSED OFF ALL THE TIME TOO.

I can't wait to start mining SC.
1998  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pool Ops are now the Alt Currency Police on: January 06, 2012, 03:37:06 PM
So Luke didn't intend for anyone to lose anything ?

I lost 20+ blocks from my wallet, all with 200+ confirmations as well as a 6 block transfer after that. Does that mean I didn't lose anything ?
1999  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [349 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: January 06, 2012, 03:30:17 PM
I find it hard to believe that if he honestly feels that he did nothing wrong, why did he remove all personal information from his personal websites including his family blog etc ?

If people were making threats against my actions, whether they were right or wrong, I would remove my personal information from my websites as well.  If you really feel he did something wrong/illegal, please call up law enforcement.

Here are the facts as I see them:

1) Mining for blocks isn't against the rules of bitcoin/its clones.
2) There are no rules regarding how much hash power you may contribute to any of the bitcoin/clone networks.
3) There are no rules mandating which transactions miners have to include in the blocks they mine.
4) As far as I know, he didn't reassign any coins that were mined before he started mining.
5) Luke never made fake transactions to take coins that weren't his.
6) Luke generated a bunch of blocks that became the longest chain and orphaned shorter chains.

Please let me know if any of those 6 facts are wrong.

Edit: and if those 6 facts are indeed correct, then how is what he did wrong?

Praise Jebus !
2000  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pool Ops are now the Alt Currency Police on: January 06, 2012, 02:52:05 PM
The funny thing about this all is, it took the power of Luke's pool to pull this off, because without it, he's essentially NOTHING and a threat to nobody.

I've spent enough time at BTC-e Exchange chat, reading his dribble about how Litecoin is also a scam coin, but the sad fact of the matter is, he's powerless to do anything about it, as it's a CPU mined Alt.

With his personal vendetta against CLC, I0X and I0C...he was able to leverage the power of the pool that he admins to do them damage.
He essentially has NOTHING of his own to use in his battle against GPU-mined Scam Coins (as he calls them) that would be even marginally effective and with CPU Alts still thriving, it seems he has even less resources at his disposal to cause any significant disruptions for them.

I would hope that once his pool miners wake up a bit, they all leave his pool in a mass exodus and take their resources elsewhere, to be under the management of another, more HONEST pool Op that will not abuse his/her status, using other's hashing power to fuel their personal ego trips and/or conquests against other Alts in the future.

Absolute power corrupts....absolutely.
