2201  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTCGuild and it's relation to DDoS attackers on: October 20, 2011, 03:07:50 PM
LAME. Sour Grapes is all that is.....
You see that slush pool has died, so apparently there was no hope to save it. So the last thing a dying man could do was to try to at least find out why&how? this happens. There were some suspicions around that Eleuthria had deals with attackers. I think this step was - of course - not nice, but logical.

And also - btcguild was not harmed, by doing this! It only revealed that attackers like btcguild and will not attack.
Well, this is an unfortunate part of life and the world we live in......not just the Bitcoin world.

If eleuthria made a deal with the 'Devil' to save BTCGuild for the rest of us (miners that is) then I commend him for doin so.
I see NO SHAME in doing so and to attack BTCGuild because of it's relationship with the attackers of other pools is completely RETARDED....and of course, I use the term RELATIONSHIP loosely.

Anyone who thinks that eleuthria did wrong, should NEVER become involved in World Politics.

Anyone who supports Slush's attack on BTCG is wrong.....
2202  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTCGuild and it's relation to DDoS attackers on: October 20, 2011, 02:54:06 PM

Yesterday I did one thing which I'm proud of, but which was a logical step in closing the circle; what happen when I change my DNS to btcguild servers? At this time, me and deepbit were completely off, but btcguild had even higher hashrate (probably thanks to failover configurations in miners). So I modify DNS records and point everything to btcguild.com. I had 5minutes DNS timeouts, so there was an easy way how to revert this traffic back from btcguild.

As I expected, nothing happen. I leaved DNS to btcguild over a half of hour, which was many times longer than botnet need to switch to new IP address before. And btcguild was still untouched.

Best,
slush
WOW....
So what you have done is basically re-wrote the 'book' on DDoS attacks and how to 'DEAL' with them.

So now every time a Pool operator is pissed off and under attack, he can 'SPREAD THE WEALTH' among other pools to have them suffer the same fate ?

LAME. Sour Grapes is all that is.....

Why the frell would he do that and why a high fee pool so fees can suckup a good chunk of any donation?  Just set the donation and call it a day.  Why all the extra work to do the same thing.  (Take the time you would have pointed @ that account in hours a day) / (24 * # GPU) that is the % to set donation.

Donation simply pull work from a pool the author has already setup and does work on a % basis.

i.e at 1% then 1% of the time your cards work on his  pool and 99% on your pool.
Because I like to know WHERE I am connecting, you fucking douche nozzel........

Simply put: Fuck it if my Network's Security doesn't allow any outgoing connection to where ever the 'donation' pool is located.

Can you clarify something ?

Is the PPS Pool currently doing Merged Mining in the background ?
2205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin 2 Release - Monday 10th October 23:35 UTC on: October 17, 2011, 08:10:39 PM
Will Solidcoin 3 also be ready for the Bitcoin collapse ? or is that just Solidcoin 2 that will be ready for the collapse ?
Obviously Solidcoin 1 wasn't ready.....
2206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin 2 Release - Monday 10th October 23:35 UTC on: October 17, 2011, 08:02:59 PM
Does anyone know when Solidcoin 3 will be released ?

Yup, november 2nd.
Cool.
What do I do with all my version 1 & version 2 Solidcoins then ? It would be nice to consolidate multiple wallets.

ckolivas, please create an account on http://pps.btcguild.com (if you do not already have one)......

Rather than use the built-in % donation feature in CGMiner, I would just as well log one of my video cards into a mining account for a set amount of time and make my donation that way.

I am sure there are others who would do the same, so create a miner for me using part of my username, so you know where they (shares) came from.

Something simple like: (assuming it's for pps.btcguild.com)
Miner User - ckolivas_bitlane
Miner Pass - worker

Obviously I don't need the actual account credentials, just a single miner's credentials......

Let me know when you have done this and I will mine some shares for you, as it's a PPS Pool.
2209  Economy / Computer hardware / WTB: ATI Mining Video Cards & Power Supplies - CANADA ONLY. on: October 17, 2011, 07:04:25 AM
I am looking for Cards & Power Supplies in CANADA ONLY, as I would rather not risk Import Fees, long shipping times etc.

So, if you have cards & power supplies for sale and are in CANADA, let me know the following:
- What you have for sale (model#'s etc).
- Price including shipping to Calgary, AB.
- WHERE YOU ARE, WHERE YOU ARE SHIPPING FROM.
- Payment Terms, what you accept.
- Rep, Sales History etc.

Again, this is for sellers in CANADA ONLY.

Thanks.
2210  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [NR 1] Triplemining.com <> BIG jackpot every week <> on: October 17, 2011, 06:55:51 AM
Best thing to do for these type of problems is to find me online on our irc channel #triplemining on freenode.  I do not know what is going wrong here, but if you want to help, we can do some testing to see what is exactly going on by monitoring what you are sending to the server and what the server is replying, so we can find the root cause of the problems.

I will definately do that with the next block.

Another thing I forgot to mention that I just remembered is that at the START of a block, things seem to go quite well, but as the block progresses things seem to go downhill for me, as I described above.

Has anyone else noticed degraded performance as the block goes on longer ? It's like if the block doesn't get solved quickly, performance degrades over time. I don't think this is an issolated incident, as this might explain why the pool either has extremely SHORT blocks or extremely LONG blocks and nothing in between as it were.....I could be wrong though. See you next block.

2211  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [NR 1] Triplemining.com <> BIG jackpot every week <> on: October 16, 2011, 01:58:37 AM
Hey Kinlo, I use CGMiner and I get a retarded amount of stales from Triplemining for some reason. There are a couple other pools that are similar, but I can also achive under 1% from a few others.

At 1 point, I actually had to set my work-scan-time to 10 seconds in order to avoid submitting stales constantly, so if a hash couldn't be achived in 10 seconds, it would move onto the next attempt.

Could you shed some light on why this might be and why my temporary fix worked ?

Could this have something to do with the fact that CGMiner is multi-threaded and has the ability to use a single account for an entire motherboard (if setup that way....4 cards, 1 account?)...just thought I would add that.
2212  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why do you mine on deepbit? on: October 14, 2011, 06:41:51 AM
I challenge you to eat dogshit for an entire month and see if your health improves.
Perhaps you might want to create a Java app for that ? .....but then again, with it, I might be forced to eat only your dog shit and not have a choice in the end......  Roll Eyes
2213  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why do you mine on deepbit? on: October 14, 2011, 04:36:36 AM
How about THIS:

The 1 Month Challenge......

I feel comfortable enough to mine for an entire month long WITHOUT A WITHDRAWL and feel confident in my funds still being there after 30 days. How about we both try this with about 3 GH/s using PPS....me on BTCG and YOU on your 0% Fee Pool.
Let's see who can sleep at night after the second week and who can not (while pretending BTC=$25 USD/BTC.....LOL).
2214  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why do you mine on deepbit? on: October 14, 2011, 04:32:28 AM
I mean if someone is so broke they absolutely need every single bitcent paid within seconds of earning it well then maybe Deepbit or BTCGuild are worth it but honestly if you are in that boat you likely shouldn't be mining anyways.   Roll Eyes
Well, considering it's the BROKE PEOPLE who reign supreme (or so the Total Hash rates say for the network as a whole) while mining Deepbit & BTCG, I'd say it's a safe bet that anyone who says anything bad about them is either a jelous pool owner themselves, or far too rich and shouldn't concern themselves with the lowly miners to begin with  Roll Eyes
2215  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why do you mine on deepbit? on: October 14, 2011, 03:31:33 AM
Well, I will end by saying this:

My comparison (ON TOPIC AT THAT) was between Deepbit and BTC Guild ONLY..... 10% vs 7% for PPS payouts.

Frankly, most other pools mentioned in this thread, with the exception of Luke's pool and Slush's Pool, do not even belong in the same sentance, let alone the same thread as either 1.....especially being compared to.

These are the 2 largest Pools and are 2 of the oldest/most established pools.

Now, let's see a 0% Fee PPS Pool rack up the stats that either of these pools has done regardless of their fees, then we can talk.

BTC Guild - FTW ! .....Currently paying 0.00003167154226788676/share after the difficulty change...and I am FINE with that.
2216  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why do you mine on deepbit? on: October 13, 2011, 08:02:41 PM
For those who PPS mine, BTC Guild's PPS Pool is by far the best in terms of performance, stability and payout options. I don't understand why more people don't use it.

- Instant payouts (no waiting for a block to end, no confirmations...just a running total of your earnings available at any time).
- Insanely LOW Stales etc.....like INSANELY LOW (4/4000 shares ON A BAD DAY, for me anyways...closer to 4/40000 most times).
- Established Pool with history.
- Standard 7% PPS Fee.

This is an insane big fee.
Compared to the 10% PPS Fee @ Deepbit ? ....... What PURE-PPS Pools offer a lower fee with stability and under 1% Stale count ? ..not to mention, paying out for bad blocks.....IMMEDIATELY, no wait.

No, compared to 0% fee of arsbitcoin and eligius, 7% is infinitely big.

About waiting: I'm not hurry.

About stability: BTCguild has a black past managing DDoS.
Must I really say P P S once again ?
2217  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why do you mine on deepbit? on: October 13, 2011, 07:06:38 PM
What is ABC's current payout per share ?

BTC Guild PPS is unbeatable in that respect.

abcpool.co has 0% PPS AND they pay for stale shares. It's remarkebly stable and my invalids are always a quarter of a percent. I've been mining there for over a month and its a dream pool.
0% Fee, Pays for Stales......In this Difficulty ?
Be realistic, how long can you expect a pool with that payment model to be around for ? ....till the owner starts having to support it out of his own pocket ?
With it's current hashrate and not using difficult math to explain things, that pool needs to find 2.5 Blocks per day just to stay alive and pay it's users, not to mention the overhead.

Even established pools such as MTred have felt the 'pinch' as of late, but then again, ABC might not offer multiple payout methods....

Not to say anything bad about the pool, but, I just can't see the longevity in it.

...and still only 80-90 GH/s for the most part. Where is everyone ?

For the reasons given above, noone should be PPS mining at Deepbit any longer and move their rigs to BTCG immediately, even if only for the 3% increased earnings immediately.....and in this BTC Economy, every %% counts.

I am not affiliated with either pool....I'm just a cheap-ass miner who is happy with BTCG.
