To the OP, only if the critical mass wants to make Banks disappear!

only someone who wants BTC to fail miserably would propose this.
POS is a shit sham.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Failed to Deliver ? on: December 09, 2016, 06:09:17 AM
What a retarded-ass-fucking-article ... why do people write such junk?!?
"Failed to deliver?"

Last I checked, Satoshi meant it to be a "Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System"
For nearly 10 years now it has functioned as such and has done a quite damn good job of it.

People need to go back to the basics of shit before writing such utter junk articles.
84  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would You Choose $50K Value Paid as Bitcoin, Gold or New Corvette on: December 06, 2016, 04:28:37 AM
Id choose a mix between gold / bitcoin.
Gold for stability, the rest on bitcoin as a gamble.

Id probably go 50/50 =)

Definitely not a new car tho, but if I *needed* a new vehicle, perhaps take a lil of both and put it into one =P

Definitely NOT a corvette hahahaha!

Do you think Tarkin can modify his code to boot with a later pi version? I would gladly pay to see this done, as I was the first to pay for custom work from him for the Titan miner project.

Vegas

Problem is, I dont have physical interaction w/ my Titan and henceforth its RPI...so, I cant really chance updating anything that would cause it to not easily be recoverable =(
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Attraction on: November 30, 2016, 03:48:19 PM
I like the fact that it is a disruptive technology. We need alternatives in our lives, and Bitcoin offer us the alternative. If we only had one option for everything, that option would take advantage of their position and they would start to exploit that position. A perfect example of this is the banks. They are in a position of power, because they offered us money and now we are under their control with the debt.

The debt does not exist, because the money was created out of thin air. < If you understand, how they created that money >

Bitcoin is the alternative to many centralized payment options and also remittance services like MoneyGram/WU that are exploiting people with high fees.

I agree. Debt is created to control people and enslave them for their life time and their children. Money is just created out of air, Governments are printing currencies out of thin air and they circulate it  among their citizens. It all just based of "TRUST". I recommend everyone reading this post to watch "Bitcoin the end of money as we know it". It is a wonderful documentary which will open your eyes.

To both you guys and anyone else. FYI, central banks and governments do not create "money" ....correctly said its "currency" ... more specifically "fiat currency" when it comes to government enforced "currency"

Examples of money ... "real money" is something like gold.
Bitcoin, by design is intended to function similarly but it has yet to prove if its a store of value over long periods of time. For now its like a "pseudo money". It definitely functions as a "currency"(mind you not "fiat currency"), jury is still out on if its "real money"

Now, to why I like Bitcoin....
2 words: "Monetary Freedom"
I can do what I want, when I want, where I want, I can have as much I want ... without anyone else saying otherwise, using bitcoin.

Its technology is fascinating and one of a kind, we are all fortunate enough the "creator" left us the source code to improve upon their idea over time.
Never before in human history has something existed as versatile and free as Bitcoin - as a monetary component.

88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacking KNC Neptune / Jupiter / Titan miners back to life. Why not? on: November 29, 2016, 04:33:35 AM
Is this the stuff from whats his face that was selling the firmware for 10btc? or did you dev your own?
Dear God No. This is me pounding my own head against the KNC wall. Besides I would rather blow up beaglebones on controllers trying to figure out some of these failures than the now limited supply of Raspberry Pi's.

Note: Everything I do here is my own work or is based on publicly accessible documents. I have no encumbrances or NDA's in this venture and I would prefer to keep it that way.

C

Cool beans =) was just curious.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacking KNC Neptune / Jupiter / Titan miners back to life. Why not? on: November 29, 2016, 01:40:05 AM
Update: I have the code working for a Neptune 100% on a beaglebone (yeah, big deal but it's a bitch to compile and get working) however Titan is still down. It's somewhere in the titan.c files in Bfgminer. But anyway in the meantime know that the newer version of fpga code on the Rpis can work with Neptune boards, so it's an enhancement to the Neptune code and not a replacement.

BBB's compile so much faster than Rpi's. I hate Rpi's.

Is this the stuff from whats his face that was selling the firmware for 10btc? or did you dev your own?

Immediately stopped reading at compiling the miner with Ubunto.

Stop making coins that require all that compiling and building the miner bullshit. Not all of us are hardcore computer geeks with a shit ton of programming knowledge.

Windows exe file or not interested.

Good guide overall tho.

Crypto is geek/nerdy .. .just look around .... you're obviously in the wrong hobby..

So if the efficiency is no better than a Titan -- then -- is this a SCAM?

Why would someone overpay to buy these units?  I'm lost here.

It seems that it is basically 2.5x as efficient as the 100Mh/s A2 units (which are selling for about $650 with PSU).

Sadly, no its not a scam. Miners will be flocking to these, just like every stupid hardware release ... no matter the price and no matter the efficiency. Its an addiction. Ill probably be the only one not purchasing any.
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what happen with bitcoin after not mineable? on: October 21, 2016, 02:34:34 PM
what happen with bitcoin after not mineable?
miner will stop his mining activity ? then how to make bitcoin network strongest ?
and how about the price of bitcoin ?
Assuming you're referring to what happens once all the 21m Bitcoin are effectively mined, what'll happen is we're going to see fees potentially go up to replace the block rewards, and the price of Bitcoin will more than likely work its way up along with the decrease in the amount of mineable Bitcoin as time wears on.

That's something like 100 years away though, if I remember the date correctly.

the fee of bitcoin transaction is very small. im not sure it's profitable.
if miner get profitable with "fee of bitcoin transaction" the seller and buyer will get loss in "higher fee" in bitcoin transaction  Huh

Have you seen the block reward halving "schedule" ....Huh theres a point where block rewards are much much MUCH smaller than fees are ... even now. So, eventually fees will become more of a reward then blockreward itself ... long before all the coins have been mined.

By then, if bitcoins price is anywhere near what people hope ... then fees alone will be more than profitable to mine. The opposite will be true and bitcoin will be long dead by then if price doesnt increase to meet the mining incentive at that point in time. The reason? Because if miners stop mining ... diff will go down substantially leaving much room for the network to be 51% attacked constantly, eventually leaving folks w/ lost trust in bitcoin itself.

Just shy of 4w/MH ....... so, hardly better than a Titan ... long live knc Titan!

Amazing disparity between the Title of this thread and the end result W/mhs ... haha!
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A4 Dominator, the 14nm LTC ASIC/Miners, sample tested and open for pre-order on: October 11, 2016, 02:37:49 PM
Pre - order went just fine with KNC.

Delays of more than a YEAR = "just fine"?

Interesting concept that - and I'm not even going to START on the many other issues with KNC that drove them to bankrupcy despite their own in-house massive mining efforts.

Got to say from the specs on these units...gonna take a 'massive amount" to upend my Titan apple carts.......just saying....I suppose if enough of them work for a year and flood the market.

looks now like spec wise it is pretty much oranges vs oranges eff and mhs wise all in all

the main advantage with a Titan right now is if one of 5 cubes goes you still have 4 cubes (and hopefully lightfoot to fix the broke one) ..with the A4 if the board goes after

45 days you are skunked...(again unless lightfoot changes vendors)

Still,  if you believe in an eventual BTC pump to 800 bucks plus and LTC or scrypt coins to follow ..you could get one of these for a gamble ..but right how using this calc

www.lightcoinpool.org

I get a bit less than a year ROI at 12c kwh (winter 11c and summer 14c kwh ave) ...so the gamble is on a pump an mining paying off I guess

Then again an 800 buck BTC pump with LTC at 0006 btc to usd would be 4.80 usd LTC

one of these miners COULD climb out of that hole even with difficulty...but again if they flood the market even at the above rate would probably again reset to s year ROI anyway

As with all mining hardware, pricing on these is a horrible ripoff.     But... at least its a tiny bit better than anything in SHA land. For now, I have no plans on buying an A4 ... 1 year to *maybe* ROI is insane.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 05, 2016, 03:39:43 PM
A4 is indeed a load of horrible engineering (at least from a process node and effeciency standpoint). Innosilicon substantially dropped the specs 2x at least from what the intial goal was. Now, a stated above, the A4 sits barely more efficient than the Titan and most likely - much louder. The Titan is one of the only remaining, profitable home miners - no doubt about that.
The unfortunate part is, the A4 will release and sheeple miners will flock to it and hashrate will climb =(
The good news ... at least Titans will remain relevant for the foreseeable future ... as long as LTC price remains stagnate ... there wont be much demand for more development in the Scrypt ASIC arena.
So, for now ... Titan and A4 are end game for Scrypt(which is a good position for us Titan owners).

Isnt this, in a way, expected? Not in the sense that Inno failed to meet some efficiency goals but in the idea that Litecoin (Scrypt) was to be ASIC resistant. Its true that ASICs have been designed for Scrypt (obviously) but they are not as efficient as those that were designed for SHA-256. Granted, a lot more money has been dumped into SHA-256 ASIC development compared to Scrypt but still. Maybe we are reaching the limits of what can be done with our current technology?

KNC hit a homerun with the Titan.

I wouldnt think so.... I mean, imagine the effeciency improvement of a Titan on a smaller silicon node.    Innosilicon just failed at their design and success in wafer creation.
Yes, KNC did indeed hit a homerun w/ Titan. In fact, I would go so far to say its the only crypto ASIC that ended up being "far ahead of its time".
2nd behind Titan would be bitfury's 1st gen - its 55nm design was far more effecient then even newer tech for quite some time.

Whats also interesting is Titan's ability to do scrypt-n (no other scrypt ASIC could do that). Too bad that algo died off tho.

BUG: w/ new DAG and claymore miner.

Up until recently ... the following has worked fine:

Mining EXP and SIA or DCR on my rig on 2 7970's

As of the latest DAG .... this now causes a crash when switching to devpool (subsequently having to change epoch to ETH's epoch), the DAG creation takes 2x longer than usual and at the end of it the machine reboots w/ bug check of a hung device thread status.
Ive repeated this across multiple sets of cards - so its not hardware related.

If you use same version and it started to generate DAG slowly - reboot PC, it's not miner issue, drivers or hardware failed. I have several rigs turned on right now and they work fine with latest 7.2 on Win10.
What version of the miner do you use? What pool do you use to mine EXP?

Using win7 x64, 15.12, have tried miner 5.3 and the latest 7.2 .... same issues. I dont understand how its a hardware problem. No cards on rig exhibit this problem when generating either EXP or ETH DAG on miner start, only while mining and switching to devfeepool has the problem shown up(going from EXP mining to devfeepool mining). Could it be size of larger new dag and exp dag cant coexist on a card? ( I dont know how the ongpu dag creation works - is the old DAG discarded prior to the GPUs generate a new one? ... if not then its easily a DAG size issue)

Completely different GPU's on this rig exhibit same problem ... I doubt all the GPU's are failing ..

I just tried to mine EXP, it mines it, after a few DAG switches it still works, no rejected/invalid shares. EXP has epoch #13 and ETH has epoch #79, so it takes in about 1.5 times longer to create DAG for ETH.
Try to specify "-allcoins -1" option, see readme for details. If it does not help, ask here if someone mines EXP and has same problems, this way we can confirm that the problem is not in your hardware.
PS. If you use dwarfpool (or any pool that accepts wallet address directly) you can avoid DAG re-creation at all, miner can mine EXP in devfee too. Though it seems "-allcoins exp" option was broken in v7.x, I fixed it and I can send you an update.

k previously I had -allcoins 1 .... trying -allcoins -1 now, seems it has started on devfee fine then switched to exp (my pool) and subsequently epoch... just fine as well ... will see what happens when next devfee pool switch comes along.
If this still fails, Ill have to get that -allcoins exp fix from ya.

UPDATE ... looks like the -allcoins -1 works , 9hrs w/o stability problems.   Guess generating the ETH dag first is the key =)
