901  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Hashie.co - Cloud Mining from 0.0012 BTC / GH | NEW: AMHash | FREE 10 GH on: December 09, 2014, 07:06:22 AM
Im in the USA, I logged into antpool, I dont see any workers anywhere, I clicked on worker 'tab' but no workers listed. See no option to add a worker.

Workers are created automatically. You have to start mining using your_username.worker_name and it will show up.

There are no workers anywhere created automatically when bought from the market on hashnest. Does not apply to the UMISOO farm or something?

So, I got a question ...
Im curious, and realize that all cloud services are pretty much a risk of being frauds but....
Between buying amhash on havelockinvestments vs hashie... what the difference as far as risk?
I guess what Im wondering are both providers as equally tied to the AM hardware?
Or is hashie or havelock more at risk than the other of randomly disappearing in the future?

I believe that Amhash should be able to honor their commitment even if either havelock or hashie disappear, although I don't know what would be the specific procedure in such case. Do they have a full list of their customers? How would they verify their identities?

Yeah, cloud mining is scary as hell ... but its becoming my only option to keep 'mining' as elec costs for cloud vs what I pay in elec is much less for cloud.
But, putting in a decent amount of BTC to even reputable cloud providers is freaky... =(
Yeah it always is a risk i personally use cex.io, hashnest, havelock, cloudminr and hashie . I only see hashnest and cex.io that show you the live miner updates and let you plug in your miners to pool. I had gaw before but i wont go into it lol

Hrm... Im tryin out hashnest too, I dont see an option anywhere to point to a pool of ur choice...

on the hashnest.com website when you are logged in you will see it on top. On my screen i see it say " antpool " when you click it you will be taken to a page to login and create a worker name then point worker to it. I dont know if page shows different for different region users i am in usa

There are other options, you can buy a miner and have it hosted somewhere with cheap electricity. It's better than a cloud since you have full control. You still need to trust the host to some extent though.

True, but yeah like u said, ur still trusting someone w/ ur crap, whether its physical assets or BTC...
Then theres shipping n stuff.... really makes it not worth it ..

907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't Mining Economically Retarded? on: December 07, 2014, 01:49:16 AM
Mining, its just another way of gambling ... trade or mine, pick ur poison.
In mining ur betting against diff.
In trading ur betting against price.
If you buy hashrate w/ fiat, ur betting against both price & diff.

But yes, in to many cases people dont know how to do basic math when comparing prices and possibility of ROI

UPDATE: order changed to completed and is hashing away =)

I strongly suspect this to be a ponzicloudservice, like most of them are... I guess only time will tell ...
Ive had 2nd thoughts about putting in a large order at this point.

I've allready get back my 100% ROR. You call it Ponzi - I call it trustworthy income ... and the time of investment told me: It's ok without any losts so far.  Smiley

best regards,
ritch

Thats good for you, ponzi's can still be profitable, all depends on when u get in on them =) ... as with all ponzi's time will tell.

Theres always renting hashrate from miners via sites like betarigs, nicehash/westhash, leaserig

918  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: November 06, 2014, 07:09:15 PM
A fan probably caught fire then died, causing a group of miners to go up in flames.... =P
Fans are annoying like that..
919  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Do you hate the PI's USB ports like I do? here is a fix for us miners!!!!!!!!! on: November 03, 2014, 09:58:28 PM
Not a solution for me: I use wifi connection to my Pi. It gives me more headache when I drop USB to 1.1 vs 2.0 for wifi dongle.

I have a wifi dongle on 2 pi's, forcing 1.1 has not affected them at all =)
920  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Do you hate the PI's USB ports like I do? here is a fix for us miners!!!!!!!!! on: November 03, 2014, 01:35:23 AM
Sorry, maybe this is new for you. But some one already point out this long time ago in nanofury thread.
Still this is only work if only one type miner connected to Rpi. If there is multiple different brand miner, another problem arise.
Basicly Rpi is a crap.

While thats a possibility, I can say that I have 3x HF boards & 2 GSblades running on a SINGLE pi without issue.
Also, I have 3x HF boards & 1 avy3 module on a SINGLE pi without issue.
