1041  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero - 650GH/s - Batch 2 Shipping June 9th, $850 ($1.3/GH/s) on: June 16, 2014, 05:13:20 AM
So, is it possible to see the status of the 96 cores per die?
Reason I ask is, when I got these, before I tweaked voltages / cooler mounting etc... I remember the MHav over a 10hr period was right around 650GH per hab @ 850mhz
Which, 850 * 96 * 2 * 4 = 652GH ... add the HW% and the 650GH sounds about right.

After tweaking the waterblock heads, voltages and messing w/ clocks ... I have the cooler hab running at 875mhz, 1mv higher than stock, it shows no dropouts(due to not enough voltage) in the pepper app .. after a few hours of mining, its only showing 645GHav ... it should be closer to 660-670 .. HW% is largely unchanged.
So, Im confused as hell, if I put it back to 850mhz, its right around 630GHav now =(

My other hab, Im not able to get it stable at 875mhz, so its at 850mhz ... its showing the same drop, down to 630GH now =/

So, Im wondering, is it possible for individual cores or an engine in a core just die / not work and go unnoticed? Hence why Im wondering if its possible to see the status?

I have no idea whats causing this random drop.

My temperatures are all well within range too.... help!

I would avoid the beaglebone for now, it has a hot plus usb issue that doesnt seem to be fixed even in some of the beta kernels.. anyhow just my 2 cents since I tried to get one working and just gave up.

It's running fine for me on the 5-14 Debian firmware.  Are you running an Angstrom release?

The odroid u3 is a good alternative http://hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php  I ditched all my pi for them due to usb issues

Wow, those look awesome! ... question, will minepeon work on it?
1043  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero - 650GH/s - Batch 2 Shipping June 9th, $850 ($1.3/GH/s) on: June 13, 2014, 07:41:35 PM
So, the voltage tool... I got it working, does it require setting custom voltages across power cycling? Or does it maintain the settings Ive specified?

I love the tool btw, I got one of my habs at .81v(under load) @ 725mhz @ 550GH @ 590 wall watts(can do 750mhz as well but keeping lower so my PSU stays alive).
With the 280L, fans @ 100 .. the above settings yields a hottest core of 80C ... cant wait to get my PSU's to power these puppies.
Having said that, changing voltages, in the slightest, makes a huge difference in power & temp on these things.

Ive also noticed that cores will "drop out" momentarily if the voltages are too low at a given clockspeed even before HW% becomes an issue.

----
On another note, I think gateway said it, but Im gonna reiterate the importance of head pressure when screwing it down onto the chip, DO NOT do it too tightly, I was looking at the board sideways and I can see the actual PCB of the package(PCB the dies set on, not the PCB of the main board) bowing because the dies were being pushed so hard down into it.

Since then Ive loosened all screws a great deal and maintain same cooling temps.

Check out this post, maybe that helps you understand the drops when using the Pepper App and some suggestions what to do.

Hrm... as my post states, already know what causes it =) ... kinda discovered it on my own =P

Is there a version of cgminer / bfgminer that can be compiled to work on an rpi to be Hab controllers?
Or does stock cfgminer compiled w/ HF support work?

Thanks

UPDATE ... issue resolved. Lease time extended proportional to lost hashrate.
1048  Economy / Reputation / Re: ** GenTarkin's Reputation Thread ** on: June 10, 2014, 05:21:22 PM
To my current Scrypt renter. My rig is having issues, one of the blades appears dead, I hope to revive it not sure.
Options are you can continue the lease and I will extend by the 25% loss in hashrate appropriately. Or you can cancel the lease(if thats an option).

Im extremely sorry and Im pretty bummed about this. I am not able to look at it for a nother 9 hours, but if I figure anything out to bring it back .. I will let you know.

Also, I tried emailing you =)

Thanks for understanding.

Just got my shipment notification!! Ordered on the 5th and it will be here on the 11th. Can't beat that. Thanks for all your hard work!

guess orders made on the 6th havent shipped yet, have yet to receive my notification =/

Can you guys help with some board comparisons?

My board gets:

MHz: 600
GH/s: ~450
Temp:  100,102,102,98

What are you guys seeing at 600mhz?

As for now a higher MHz get me 105 and an overheat.

(I do want to figure out how to get the board up to 650 gh/s.)

Also make sure to use fan plug 3 or 4, fan plug 2 is set to 50% right now until we release a firmware update

tweaking a bit more I am at

MHz: 800 mhz
GH/s: ~603 gh/s
Temp:  99, 100, 102, 99

I will pull the pump head off and reset it again in the near future and see how that goes.
If I can pin the cooling down just a bit more I think I can get this guy up to where he needs to be.
Yeah, try giving it a good cleaning. Make sure there's not lint there or anything else that could compromise the interface. I'm seeing mid 90s at 800MHz/910mV with the stock 55CFM fans and the free included thermal paste on a Swiftech H220, so your temps should be better.

I wonder if the temp variance is simply just the particular die ASIC quality. Traditionally, higher quality dies ramp up heat really quick as you go over their nominal voltage ceiling, but are able to reach very high clockspeeds at lower voltages. While, lower quality dies are very easy to feed higher voltages w/o such huge increase in heat, but also, normally requiring higher voltage to reach higher speeds.

NOTE: to everyone renting my SHA rigs ... PLEASE DO NOT POINT THEM TO GHASH.IO until the 51% risk has subsided. I do not want to take part in giving them that sort of power, whatsoever!!!!

Thanks, greatly appreciated.

Rented Tarky2 (SHA256 198.00 GH/s). Work perfectly. I strongly recommend to everyone!
How about a bonus? Grin
Thanks.

Bonus?

What about the AS ceramic? I got a bucket of that stuff running around.
That stuff is about as good as AS5, the benefit being its not conductive =)
and IIRC , I dont think it has as long as a curing time as AS5
1054  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 07, 2014, 07:17:32 PM
Just thought would post my results of Avalon3 290GH module:
Most reliable result - 306GH @ .9% HW @ .7250v @ 525mhz @ 370w

The stated HW% rate at a given voltage does not quite match up w/ the wiki, so Im a bit disappointed but, the power consumption is less than stated =)

Been stable for 15hrs at this point.
These things run fucking hot as hell, I think the compact heatsink design hinders cooling substantially. Even w/ the fan at 80-90% its still burning hot to the touch. I think if they used a 4U height case and made the heatsinks taller, these would be running much cooler at lower noise(the fan goes up to 8000+ RPM).

Whats odd is, if I put clocks at 550mhz @ .7500v @ 325GH ... it runs perfect for a good 15mins (.3%HW) ... but then the HW% starts crawling up to 20% ... I have no idea why, dont know if its heat or if the VRM's cant handle that sort of current or WTF is going on... lol

Anyways, those are some results for ya folks =)
Overall, its not a bad deal, that is if it keeps running well =)

Which pool man?

btcguild ... leaserig(when renting)
why?

Just wondering man , the Av2 complained about the coinbase length at Eligius and would stop , no p2pool either but any other stratum pool its fine. Maybe things are better now ? I gave mine to a friend. All the best man , take it easy.

Hrm... maybe they fixed that in the most recent firmware update dated 5.26.14 ...

How much longer is batch 2 going to be open?

Well when we sell out, its hard to tell but these are going quite fast at this price point. fyi..

How many are there total for B2?
1058  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Habanero - 650GH/s - Batch 2 Shipping June 9th, $850 ($1.3/GH/s) on: June 05, 2014, 02:55:20 PM

This board has the following...

1. Cooler Master 240L
2. Original fans replaced with 2 Delta 1212GHE-CF00 | 240 CFM | Max Air Pressure 27.48 mm H20
Fans are pulling (as opposed to pushing airflow) so that they blow the hell out of the back of the board. They are a bit expensive, loud, and at 29.4 watts they are not ideal. I just wanted to see what performance was like with these.
3. PSU for testing is just a Thermaltake 850W
4. Controller is an Intel NUC running Ubuntu
5. This one is not in a case. As you can see in the picture it's just sitting on my desk so I can test it.

We do have some interesting solutions in the works that I will post soon. Feel free to PM if you have any other questions.

I had those exact fans on my avalon b2 .. ROFL ... they are loud as hell and sure can move air like a mofo... I thought my avy was gonna slide off the bench.... LOL
Glad you are amused. I wasn't paying attention when I first plugged one in and the little fucker launched from my hand into my torso. Scared the shit out of me. I wish I had a video of everyone who picks one of these up and fails to comprehend the power in that little package.

Yep, they are insane, I swear u could boost an engine w/ them =P lol

Well, glad ur fingers or other extremities didnt get cut off.
These things can hover themselves quite a decent amount off a surface.

Very nice, is that the nepton 280L cooler? if so, how does that perform on these?
or is it the Glacer 240L?
