I really wish KNC would have designed the dies with ondie thermistors. So we knew what the fuck the actual temps of the dies are... |

Question: From the command line is it possible to screen over to see the cgminer process running? I'd like to find out the error rates.
Yes, you need to login with username 'pi' instead of 'admin', then screen -r will bring it up. Bingo! Thanks for that, with screen up and running I don't have to lobotomize bfgminer (though it's nice to do if you want logs). Talking to SPI directly and playing with WAAS tells me all sorts of things. Like the fact that on this Titan with two working engines and two non-working (voltage shows up, small current draws) Die 0 is insane. Powers up, can query, but can't set the nonces. Mumbles sometimes on the SPI, corrupting results from engine 2. Die 1 is dead as a doornail. 4 amps of nothing. Die 2 and 3 are great. Leaving die 0 off gives a solid 40mh. Interesting. It would be interesting to see if theres a way to complete the functionality of the Titan bfgminer driver for disabling and enabling a die. If you look at the driver source code for titan, you an see where it says "not implemented" for disabling / enabling dies while bfgminer is running. I think if that code could be finished, I could issue hard resets of dies without having to start / stop bfgminer. Because, just telling the DCDC's to power down for a die while bfgminer is running wont actually fix the "sleeping die" problem. Its like the "data lines" are still opened by bfgminer and a full die powerdown cant be performed. Its my theory that if we could get the "Enable / Disable" die functionality to work in bfgminer ... that may be the trick to allowing the full reset of a die to take place without having to restart bfgminer. I just have no idea how to even begin doing something like that. Im not familiar enough with this lower level code =P That being said, how did u query the spi information from the Titan die??? I wonder if this can be used to configure the die outside the limits set in the controller board(such as clock speed). |

I am starting to come to the conclusion that dead dies on Titans might be related to the heat sink compound being splatted on the chip a bit oddly. So far it's not related to the power supplies, main caps, filtering caps, or the fpga's. It still *MIGHT* be related to the very small chips that sit between the 10 pin connections and the hashing chip, but I do not think so.
Anyone know what the very small chips on the board are?
It may just be heat related to the dies...afterall.. We have no idea what their temps even are! Lol Which would tie into ur theory bout the bad shoddy tim application. |

Small update here on firmware progress....
I rewrote the "Energy Saver" controls to be simpler and more intuitive. Primarily because trying to compensate for nearly every situation a user could want became too great of a task w/ endless options and potential bugs.
There is still a freaking anomaly bug happening when user has dies set to odd configurations (off / outside the voltage parameters of "energy saver") ... Im still trying to track down why stuff aint working correctly in these more rare situations. Once I have that ironed out ... should be real damn close to release! .... crosses fingers!
Im wondering is there any guidelines for volt setting on the dies? like what volt it should be between for 325 etc Definite rule is voltage less than -0.0366 is recommended at 325mhz. Each die varies in quality which determines what speeds and voltage it can run at reliably. -0.0366 is fine for 325mhz long as its the only die in the cube at that voltage. Running all 4 dies at that voltage at 325mhz increases chances of melting stuff drastically. My upcoming firmware will try to find the most reliably / lowest voltage for each die at the clockspeed they are set to. So, basically any dies which u set to 325 / -0.0366v when starting the "Energy Saver" on my firmware, will have their voltage stepped down until their HW% climbs above 1.1% or they become unstable. Once either of those conditions is hit their voltage is bumped up one notch and tuning is completed for that die. So, if you have really good dies(my titan has a few) ... I usually start my tuning at -0.0439 @ 325mhz .... some of my dies will end up stable and happy around -0.0732v after tuning is completed. While the worse of my dies (just 1 or 2) have to be bumped up to -0.0366 to run decent hw%. While my average dies end up being tuned to -0.0513 / -0.0586. This is all after tuning completes =) Thanks for that answer, I have struggled on knowing which way to tune the volt, up or down ;P Looking forward to the update on you firmware, bought it today and it works great so far Awesome! Its extremely disappointing!
Well, I just run a couple SP20's now for heating my place ... if you're a home miner at this point ur strictly doing it as a hobby or on stolen power rofl!
Buying any new hardware for a home miner is never gonna ROI unless price skyrockets which most likely wont happen anytime soon.... if ever...
Scrypt mining w/ an effecient ASIC is where its at now for the home miner. Theres still a really good profit margin when mining w/ either a Titan or gridseeds(forgot their new name) hardware.
Lastly, when the halving comes, many large farms are gonna see a massive rude awakening ... either price is gonna double(doubtful and it already has taken into account the last couple months price movement) or farms are gonna shut down(more likely) .... but most likely its gonna be a combination of both. Like LTC's recent halving.
Also, the reason I think the price has already adjusted(nearly) is because it doubled from the low 200's we were at for these last couple months ... which is EXACTLY what happened w/ LTC's halving, a month or 2 prior to the halving its price saw a really large bubble ( $1.50 -> $10 ) ... then the halving hit and the price eventually settled to $3(double what it was for a year or more) ... hashrate has barely budged.
Of course, I understand what happened w/ LTC doesnt predict what will happen for BTC halving, but its a very similar trend thus far.

failover feature? Sorry, i meant Load balance... when I try 2 pool load balance, none of the pools are working. I thought with your build you can have 1 titan mine in 2 pools at the same time ? Well, using the stock 5.1.0 bfgminer I just tried "balance" worked fine. I tried load balanced and it seemed to just stay on my primary pool. I recommend using the stock 5.1.0 anywho .... it works best w/ titan because has most mature titan drivers. In fact, newer versions of bfgminer will be gone from my firmware entirely. If people want newer versions bad enough, Ill release a second *patch* that will install newer versions. |

EXCITING NEWS!!!!:
Just finished up my first RC build of "Energy Saver" ... will be tested soon. Its almost ready for release woohooo! ~ granted there arent any major bugs that creep up beyond this point ha! =P
How existing customers can get access to these builds? The test builds? They cant , its not ready for release. I have a couple testers atm, will decide if / when I want more prior to release. If your talking about access to the newest release(when it releases) then see the post 9 posts above this one, has all the details in it. |

You keep saying & thinking I never implemented any of your ideas, you said that like 3 or 4 times in that post alone. You need to get your facts straight ... I implemented a decent number of them while we were working together, I even listed them out and you agreed at one point. But to this day you accuse me of being so closed minded and never implementing anything you suggested.
GenTarkin, you don't need to defend yourself against VegasParasite. Any time spent on him is time wasted. He'll never do what he says. The above quote begs the question; Is there any code that he wrote in your firmware at all? If so, has it been audited? I wouldn't trust anything written by VegasCrybaby. I suspect that he never contributed a single line of code, but just in case he did, it should be removed. I would never knowingly run any code that was written by VegasThief. IN OTHER NEWS, a port to Beaglebone or the newer RasPi would further distance your current firmware from the stuff VegasDouche is selling. Nope, he never wrote a single line of code. I just implemented some of his ideas. There was a proposed webgui change which he did design or had outsourced. Thats the webgui hes using on the version hes selling. None of that webgui is in my soon to be released version. I have no physical access to my miner, so testing on a different host controller PC is beyond my control. My coding has been 100% written in remote sessions to my miner rofl! |

Knowing that hes sending out emails to all customers and trying to push them to buy his fake version ... I find this situation funny. Hes NEVER put this much effort into selling my firmware, when we were partners he put little effort into marketing, at one point called it tedious and hated doing it, he made attempts to at first but never delivered on some things I requested of him .. in marketing realm.

many people have...no replies ...including glen tarkin also ....they don't care anymore and have not since they stopped firmware support feb 2015 fyi and shut all of knc down......and off to icelandic data halls they went....the swedish consumer part of the business relasted to us was shut down jan 2015 just a couple guys doing RMA for folk under the 1 year warranty....and they probably will be gone soon as well hell about 6 months ago I sent emails just to see if they would reply on an RMA question.....4 emails w/in the month NO replies they don't / won't talk about anything ..my view due to the 'class action' they were told to clam up and do zip tech wise imho by the by i should probably google or find out what ever happened with that class action against knc (i had no balls to toss 1.5k in the kitty and be liable according to the law firm probably no more then 5k if knc won....so chickened out) off to google it...wonder what happened if anything yet but naw....you can email them all you want ...but an email to Satoshi would have the same result (zilch) but be 'more satisfying' imho I emailed them once a month or 2 back asking question bout the closed sourceness of their firmware for the Titan controller.... they actually got back to me =P LOL! |

I keep repeating to myself: "I will not build a miner, I will not build a miner". While seductive, that way lies DOOOOOOM!!!!!!
Anyway, with nothing else to do but things I should be doing I'm screwing with the neptune/titan firmware. KNC has all sorts of weirdness in these config files, I got a Neptune to think it was a Raspberry pi but it doesn't survive a reboot. System goes "WHAT THE HELL AM I???" and resets the files.
Need a bigger mellon-baller here to do a proper lobotomy....
Hey, if u have the ability to build a miner more power to you!... u would make a fortune, thats the only reason why ASIC companies exist. Those who supply the shovels in a gold rush era are the only ones who really profit =) |

The fact remains, it is absolutely extremely low of you to sell unfinished copies of my work, claiming it is v1.0 ... it is far from that.
