My understanding is that they closed up shop and sold the hardware in a "private" auction. The hardware was then bought back by KNC at said auction, i assume under a different company name or something. A few forum members found out and managed to get some for themselves.  Id assume the hardware is still mining for KNC but in a private pool or solo somewhere.

Shoot, it looks like you are correct.  I am not seeing any drop in the hashrate, and it looks like they might be mining with simply a new and unidentified address as there is a big jump in the blocks by "Unknown": https://blockchain.info/blocks/Unknown

Um... even if they werent sold to KNC(or repurchased by KNC) then whomever purchased them would undoubtedly  be hashing w/ them as well. So, hashrate wouldnt change either way.

KNC said after the halving it wasn't profitable to run them anymore.

Sure, someone could move them to a cheaper location, but they would need to turned off while that happened.  50 Ph/s doesn't get moved easily.

Imho...the company went bankrupt....it was bought out by knc insiders at probably less then half the worth it went bankrupt for....I'm guessing this from
how the knc bankruptcy was done for titans as an example...the whale that won bid 100 bucks more to get the last 20 or so at one point if I remember correctly
no way would that be done unless it was KNC imho...in that the auction was AS IS.thus a normal bidder would have just took what they had..

..that and other
rumors I've heard and the fact they are keeping the regular employees at this new company...and nothing is moving etc. data hall wise...they essentially 'STUCK' the big
IPO folk who invested with the bankruptcy bill..in other words ..the usual KNC behaivor..anyway my views on this from what I know or suspect

rinse/wash/repeat.....all profits imho from knc proper from founding went into their version of the Swedish ETF they are running ...

pretty slick how they did this....I especially like Sam Cole saying all was well and a bright future to IPO folk this last January lol

here is a link to the 'mysterious group" who bought knc.....it smells much ...imho Smiley

You need to get a Dominator A4 to play firmware games. All initial ASIC firmware seems to be crap at launch fyi

Meh, unless its anything like Titan(which uses a lot of linux stuff for monitoring etc etc) then probably wont be able to, but who knows.
The best firmware out of the box Ive seen to date is spondoolies in terms of functionality and operating condition tracking / adjusting and webgui.

The only other firmware Ive really messed w/ was BFL single's back in the day ... that was fun =)

Can someone recommend the best heat syncing compound to use for Titans. What cools best and last the longest?

Not sure. I use a nonconductive white stuff, will check at home.

Meantime I'm up to using Tektronix scopes to try and sort out the bottlenecks in some of these boards. Trying to use probes on those itty bitty chips is fun, but I have got the SCL busses identified on the power supplies and the LM75/EEPROM. Now to figure out where the signal to the chip's oscillators and/or on-chip registers are getting blocked....

Never boring.

This appears to be real shots of the A4 miner, however there are questions about who will actually have stock.  They are listed on Alibaba also.  The dates line up with what Inno is telling us on the A4 pre-order.  So I think they are promising to deliver something pretty fast.  I would just be careful who you buy from at this point.  If everyone will hang tight for a month it will all shake out and everyone will know who the reputable vendors are.

It is a familiar story for sure.  The specs on the new A4 are not that impressive to be honest.  The figures now for this miner almost match that of the Titan.  So this is clearly not a leap forward over the Titan.  270mh at 1100w is nothing to write home about.  So I have to admit I am pretty disappointed in the numbers coming from Inno on this first batch.  We are hearing that batch 2 will be in Dec.  Maybe they will improve the numbers over this first batch.

That's what I was thinking. Asicminermarket as far as I know sold some balkai miners to people but I have no idea if this is real. Even if it was, this reseller dudes ask a lot more. The profibility, with this shitty specs and watt usage is just not appealing at all. I would rather break my war with bitmain and actually get a s9 lol. The only good thing is the size of this thing as I always tried to stay away from scrypt miners because they are literally huge.

Yesterday I bought new and unused TITAN from ebay uk for  3000€.  Seller was a local and Titan 4 cubes already mining LTC for me.  This is my most expensive purchased TITAN,  but new and unused. Only 1 bad die.
No need to wait for some A4 miner.

A4 is indeed a load of horrible engineering (at least from a process node and effeciency standpoint). Innosilicon substantially dropped the specs 2x at least from what the intial goal was. Now, a stated above, the A4 sits barely more efficient than the Titan and most likely - much louder. The Titan is one of the only remaining, profitable home miners - no doubt about that.
The unfortunate part is, the A4 will release and sheeple miners will flock to it and hashrate will climb =(
The good news ... at least Titans will remain relevant for the foreseeable future ... as long as LTC price remains stagnate ... there wont be much demand for more development in the Scrypt ASIC arena.
So, for now ... Titan and A4 are end game for Scrypt(which is a good position for us Titan owners).

so somebody let this sit around unplugged for, how long, 2 years? And passed on 20.000€ mining income?

Isnt this, in a way, expected? Not in the sense that Inno failed to meet some efficiency goals but in the idea that Litecoin (Scrypt) was to be ASIC resistant. Its true that ASICs have been designed for Scrypt (obviously) but they are not as efficient as those that were designed for SHA-256. Granted, a lot more money has been dumped into SHA-256 ASIC development compared to Scrypt but still. Maybe we are reaching the limits of what can be done with our current technology?

KNC hit a homerun with the Titan.
