We are still working through this, and might randomize the time of the day, or change the time the pool changes with each "free version" release, as not everyone stays updated all the time. Also not everyone will be on a "free version". We could start our donation process "24 hours after the firmware initializes". This makes everyone different. Only the free version does this. We are still looking for more ideas you guys would like to see happen. Lets start a discussion on what you would like to see in future updates. We have some nice additional features already in the works, but please feel free to throw out ideas.

Vegas

I plan on getting you some btc at the end of the month...I would rather just pay a set 'fee' that you deem fair then have my miner bounce between pools etc...these are touchy
beasts..i kid you not...if i put a backup pool on the 6 cube unit it flakes...if i take out the backup pool on that unit it does not flake (gets back around 7mh) no effect on the 2
cube unit *running knc firmware 2.00* not sure if it is my imagination or not but have tried this 2x since got the units ...finally said screw it www.litecoinpool.org has only gone
down (on its end) 1x in last 5 months for like 5 min....maybe I've lost contact due to storms 3x...but frigging 'witchy' it is.....

hell I'm scared to make 'eye contact' with my titan(s) in the basement when I do laundry...less they become 'offended' and 'brick themselves' into doorstop status from the
wrong sideways glance Smiley

so just tell me what you think you need for btc that is 'fair' and I'd prefer just to get the version that has no pool 'compensation' stuff

whatever keep up with the good work eventually I'll get to the titan(s) upgraded and get you some BTC irregardless of the above

have the new SD cards to try such ...just need a weekend for a block of time to watch them after the fact and/or get to it

Odd, how does the unit "flake"? Yeah, I think litecoinpool.org is one of the friendlier Titan pools. That is the donation pool I use in my firmware =)

I used to think the Titan was touchy as hell too, that was all until I started reworking this firmware and made (my titan at least) 100% reliable ... =)
(granted I never really had pool issues, just sleeping "dead die" issues) ... HA!
562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 21, 2015, 04:16:13 AM
GenTarkin,

At what time will the donation version switch over to your pool? Could cause issues with rentals, so people who use it will likely want to add a warning to their rig descriptions that they will add time to compensate the renter for the temporary disconnection from their rental.

I'll be buying the premium version after the halving. Not touching anything on the Titan until that happens, need to avoid downtime as much as possible until the halving.
So, its not based on a time of day, its based on a 24hr period starting when the donation script starts running.
Its probably best for rig renters to just purchase the premium version to avoid dealing w/ the 11mins per 24hr donation hassle.

Yeah, the halving is gonna suck for all of us.
The way I see it is ... either price will move up to compensate(doubtful) or difficulty will decrease to compensate(more likely)... Its probably gonna be a mix of both.

cheers

564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 20, 2015, 02:47:15 PM
these was that i am thinking  from  start

why donation for a firmware

0.75%

these is awful Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

I think its fair, like I posted. Thus far Ive vastly improved the original KNC firmware. Something that Titan owners have wanted from day one, better reliability. Ive probably increased that measure by at least 50-70% ... which is huge. Ive sunken weeks of work into this little project that only set out to by a simple issue hard reset to dies 100% of the time if they had problems. Its grown into much more than that.

Hi GenTarkin,
I'll test your new image ,
I didn't donor yet because I didn't see better  performance for my miners , only  restarting soft and hard ,
so my mining power goes down, after installing your soft, but maybe I was doing something wrong
that's why I was asking earlier how to install(or copy )  yours newest files,
If you include all the changes in your newest image my miners should works better and more stable.
I respect your work and your time, and I'll donor at first time 0.5 BTC
in next post I'll send you TX
Cheers

Well you have to understand, my firmware doesnt make them run faster =P
Its all about reliability.
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 20, 2015, 06:20:17 AM
My latest release is on github:
v.96, img is included as well.
https://github.com/GenTarkin/Titan/releases/tag/v.96

link to img: https://github.com/GenTarkin/Titan/releases/download/v.96/titanSDshrink_brand_v96_don.img

NOTES:
Ive only had a total of 4 donors thus far, I know many more people use my firmware.
My firmware has features in it many Titan owners wished they had from day one.

Ive been thinking long and hard about what I feel is fair for the added features miners benefit from using my firmware. I think a little bit of time for miners to be sent to my pool is a fair setup. The initial asking time will be .75% donation rate per 24hrs(about 11mins a day). If I need to rethink this I shall.

Main features of my firmware are(in order of importance):

CONFIGURABLE DCDC OVERHEAT PROTECTION, your miners wont magically blow up due to DCDC's climbing up to high in temp(granted temps are configured below 100C). Dies will be invidiually clock down by 25mhz until they are below the DCDC temp threshold specified. Dies will be turned off if 100mhz is not cool enough.

PROPER DIE RESETS performed when dies go into a "dead" state while mining. First attempts a number of soft resets, if those attempts fail, bfgminer is stopped, affected cube powered down, powered up then bfgminer restarted. note: will not fix permanently damaged dies.
**Furthermore, if certain dies were issued nonstop soft resets via KNC's original code, because that will lead to a hard reset often using my code, there is a bypass_dies.conf file which manually can be edited for bypassing of checking die status entirely.

OPTION to switch between STOCK 5.1.0 BFGminer vs newer 5.2.0 BFGminer.

Added various meaningful webgui stats.

Finally, I will continue to develop & improve this firmware long as I have time and ideas keep rolling in. Also if there are bugs, they will be addressed. Please PM me on bitcointalk.org w/ questions or suggestions.
568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 19, 2015, 05:08:35 AM
yeah that did it, looks good  Smiley

I'll send you another .25 btc tomorrow, appreciate your hard work

no problem on the testing, any time

Awesome thanks a bunch man I really appreciate it =)

I was about to test out your 0.95 release but realized there is no compiled image. Do you mind compiling this one? I could set up a buildbot in the future to have it auto generated on a nightly basis.

Im keeping it private atm, deciding how to release it ... also its being tested.
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Moving into LTC until XT issue is resolved? As a safe haven? on: August 19, 2015, 04:36:13 AM
LTC price is directly tied to BTC price. If BTC did in fact get destroyed by XT then yes it's a safe haven, until a fork happens all the altcoins will simply go down or up with bitcoin. Let's hope there's no fork, it would never happen by itself but it's clear powerful people are manipulating this situation.
That's not true, it is definitely tied but not nearly as much as other coins. Litecoin may go down in value during a price crash but that's due to the exchanges and trades not expecting it and it being traded in BTC.

At this point ALL crypto is tied to the success / demise of bitcoin ... therefore price as well.

The largest network(bitcoin) will inevitably have all sorts of snowballing effects on the perceived value of all altcoins abroad. The experiment bitcoin & its alts will be deemed a complete failure. All prices will eventually hurl towards 0 if the shit hits the fan w/ bitcoin.
No form of crypto is a safe haven in this rocky time.
Its probably best to move ur crypto to hard assets, easy ones like buying pm's or something using crypto. They are going down in price as well, but will never hit 0 and stay there. PM's cant fail an experiment rofl!

TXSteve ... do a latest git pull and run the update web gui script. Let me know how advanced page looks now and if it works for ya =)

ok, I'll do it now
hey it won't load bfgminer after the gitpull, or using latest img then git pull -- ran web gui update

am I missing something??

Ooops sorry! Forgot to add a renamed file to git, try another pull ... then go to advanced tab and test out switching versions around.

ok

I can get 5.2 to load but not 5.1

do I need to reboot? or just restart bfgminer? btw I tried both ways

Doh! Sorry bout that didnt realize the stock bfgminer binary wasnt getting uploaded either, ok now try another pull then test =)
Well, 5.1 still doesn't load but got an error msg  :|
/home/pi/bfgminer/bfgminer: error while loading shared libraries: libbase58.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Ok, let me add those too haha... Sorry man, should work after this =)
Screw it Ima just add every damn file from bfgminer_stock to the repo, it should work now =)
Try it... Sorry and thanks for testing!

Thanks for info but how can I add your github to repository , maybe I dont saw earlier posts?
sorry for that but I'm begginer
If you want the link of the img to flash its here:
https://github.com/GenTarkin/Titan/releases/download/v.93/titanSDshrink.img

I will be releasing a new img soon w/ lots more features.
576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 18, 2015, 09:21:21 PM
Hi GenTarkin,
I want to test your newest soft
but like I understand I have to copy new files to Rpi?
or you make the new repository incuding all news?
please explain because maybe I don't understand
cheers

You have to use my latest release and flash that to a new SD card and reconfigure your miner settings, if you want you can do git pull when u log in via ssh to update it to my latest changes which are OFFICIALLY not released yet into an img.

TXSteve,  I just laid some ground work for a box in webgui to select BFGminer versions.

that would be easier

I saw some file changes ..webgui-update-branded and unbranded ?? or is that something else?

I took a guess and ran branded lol

Yeah, branded adds my donation addy =) unbranded takes it off, its supposed to be for the difference between people who just download my image vs the ones that are being sold ha

Hey, TXSteve ....
How is my latest firmware changes working for ya?
I think its working well on my single titan, its done some soft / hard resets once or 2x ... my code handled it as intended .. I think =)

Whats ur experience been?

Im gonna make an updated official release soon if all keeps going well.

I think it's ok too, still waiting for word on the 5.1/5.2 issue on the bfgminer thread

haven't had much in the way of hard resets yet to confirm, temp control is solid !!

Luke-Jr saying to use the git bisect command, you know anything about that?  Looks like it checks revisions to find where a bug is introduced

Nope, I dont =/

yeah it is beyond me too, would it be too much trouble to get a 5.1 version? that way I'll at least have temp control on that rig and then use 5.2 on the others
I suppose many don't use load balance, but probably going to be a problem if anyone else tries it with 5.2

btw I did have a successful hard reset today, seems to be working

Very cool, Im glad the soft / hard reset is finally working as intended.... thus far.... fingers crossed ... LOL

If ur just using 5.1 for one rig, couldnt u just git clone 5.1 to that pi and compile it for yourself? Thats what I assumed u did anyways to run the comparisons no?...

I wish I was that advanced, lol   I just used the knc 2.0 image and tried your v.85 img too

let me think about that, I'm trying to wrap my brain around this git stuff

actually starting to make some sense, thx for the tip

Oh, I see what you mean, the stock bfgminer is what you want?
Wasnt something broken in it.... isnt that why everyone wanted the latest? lol I dont know anymore.
Basically if you wanted that version again, u would need to go to the bfgminer_stock directory and just copy bfgminer from that folder to bfgminer folder then restart bfgminer. All of this is in /home/pi. Make a backup of the newest one first if you wanted to, by moving it to a diff filename. IE: mv bfgminer/bfgminer bfgminer/bfgminer_new_bak

I used  cp -r /backup/bfgminer/* bfgminer ....  lol so easy, you wouldn't believe how complicated I was making that

thanks so much for another tip

when I do a git pull will it upgrade to 5.2 again?
Yeah, it will probably complain about local changes and needing to stash them, not sure tho =/ ... or it will just reupdate the file haha!

I could possibly write a webgui box & submit that allows a pulldown of which miner to use and restart the miner w/ selected version. But thats more than I have time to code atm, if you really want it Im sure I could do that sometime this week. More donations would get me coding it for sure haha =P
