Well, I tried doing a git clone of the repo and couldnt even compile bfgminer successfully ... ccan wont compile correctly. =(
Maybe Im missing something. Dont know, so cant really test it out. I will worry bout testing when theres actually .bin install upgrade file provided by the author of the updated KNC v2.0.2 firmware.
Till then, average miner wont really be able to upgrade beyond v2.00 anywho.
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Its this simple guys ... NOONE is satoshi until they prove it PUBLICLY!!!! on: May 02, 2016, 05:29:37 PM
This whole craig wright bs is retarded. I dont care if gavin "believes" or "vouches" to this guys claims.
But if Craig cant prove to all of us publicly w/ a signature that we can verify ourselves.... then he isnt fucking satoshi.

Its meaningless if someone says "yeah he showed me in private proof of him signing" ... LOL!
Its the same thing as someone saying "I can sign it myself, trust me its mine."

In short, nothing to see here in this media uproar over this Craig Wright bs ... until he proves it publicly!!!!!!

Move along folks.
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacking KNC Neptune / Jupiter / Titan miners back to life. Why not? on: May 02, 2016, 02:33:07 AM
Well, this is a step forward: I managed to get the top off a die without destroying the carrier.

The dies are larger on this board, I think KNC did two revs:

More interesting, someone tried to fix this board. Bad job!

The secret is to use full board heat, then heat around the side of the chip, then very very gentle pressure to lever up the lid. Bitch on wheels to do, but in this case the top is off.

Hm.

Wait, WHAT?!?!? the dies shown here and the dies shown a couple pages back on forum ... are really really really freaking different in size! Are these both Titans?
If so, it looks almost like they could have used 2 different node sizes. Its such a substantial difference in size the revision would have been an insane undertaking. This is weird.

If these 2 pics are different products tho (IE: neptune vs titan) then such differences in size are normal.
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: May 01, 2016, 07:54:15 PM
er this is confusing..wtf is KNC supporting their firmware with an upgrade or is this just some clown posting something in the area?

https://github.com/KnCMiner/titan/commits?author=dvitas

Suddenly March 7th 2015 a year later it is 2.0.1 upgrade and now a few days ago 2.0.2?
Hm. Wonder who has the keys to the repository. I'd still be suspicious as heck though. :-)

Is there enough interest to try a full recompile on the latest Rpi and/or BBB at this time? I had to put some things down due to commitments, but I could do some tinkering over the next month if there really is.

Meantime bunch of things to work on, back to the salt mines....

Anyone upgrading to this firmware, who uses my mod, will have to reinstall my mod. At this point Im not sure if any compatibility issues exist w/ my firmware. I will have to test this out and make a new release if need be. Stay tuned.
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CUSTOM KNC TITAN FIRMWARE! based off KNC's v2.00 on: April 18, 2016, 03:48:42 PM
Hello!

I would like to know whether your firmware will help to solve my problem?

I had a following problem.
Miner does not answer! I can not go to its Web-page.
I set the official image 2.0 Titain on the SD card instructions.
I tried set latest firmware, but to no avail.

Indicator write:

EmptySpace
192.168.1.9

When I connect the monitor, i see next:

Starting Factory setup: ERROR: No serialnumber found
ERROR: No eeprom found
ERROR: No eeprom found
ERROR: No eeprom found
ERROR: No eeprom found
ERROR: No eeprom found

I do not know what to do. Оfficial support KnC no longer responding

My firmware only installs in top of knc 2.00 so if 2.00 wont even boot up for u so u can get to the webgui to upgrade the firmware...then sounds like u wouldn't be able to install my mod.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 12, 2016, 04:16:15 PM
Guys I have turned over the database of names of everyone that purchased the firmware from my site www.bitcoinlasvegas.net or Ebay. If you purchased the firmware from either of these sites and you are currently not running his v1.04 then kindly PM Gentarkin , and he will help you as he can now confirm your payment using the email you used. Please state the email address you used in your pm to him, as that is how he will verify you.

Vegas

I can confirm this. Thanks vegasguy!

To my client previous customers which are on this list:
I was not given amount of original copies purchased. So, in order to be eligible for more than 1 free copy of the new firmware you will still have to supply proof of purchase of more than 1 originally.
As of this point, everyone on the original client base list who didnt already receive their free upgrades, now is eligble for 1 free full copy upgrade to newest release.

Please pm/email me via my site: http://gentarkincustomtitan.pcriot.com letting me know your original email and that u are in need of 1 free upgrade. Furthermore create an account on my site w/ original email used.

188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 12, 2016, 05:19:25 AM
Update: Does not work. Pi keeps auto-restarting, probably one of the daemons is down. Will play with it tomorrow. Meantime amazon, ebay, everyone still has 1.2 Rpis.

C

i have that spare raspberry pi clone jupiter/titan with the clone bridge up ..it only has 1 working die cube and the 2nd full cube on it

I could try a apt-get update and apt-get upgrade (i think that his how the work in tandem...and think this order is correct) and see what happens on a REGULAR Raspberry Pi B+ 512mb

unless that screws the pooch too....

and again if anyone wants just to see if it works or not ( not like a lot of risk)

Or maybe someone has done this and knows as to whether it actually does anything of note I'd have no way to tell would have to follow directions for those who would want to poke into it after the fact (assuming it upgraded etc)

but I have a knc 2.00 8gb Sandisk Class 10 SD  laying around here I could nuke to try

(then again others may have done this with NO effect) Sad

let me what some of you think (Lightfoot gen tarkin..others with more knowledge then myself)

When it comes to myself, all hardware mods are outta my hands. I dont have access to a titan physically. Hence why I can only offer software/firmware improvements =-(
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 11, 2016, 04:24:49 PM
Anyone know why a pi2 wont run on this controller? Is the controller just incompatible? I  assumed since it sounds like all the controllers from KNCminer are identical, none of them would be compatible with the pi2. Didnt the neptune make an updated controller? I could be completely wrong on this as I dont follow neptunes. But if they did, then how to identify the updated one, and is their latest controller compatible with Titan Bridge and pi?

Vegas
Yes.

:-)

The problem with the Pi2 is that the CPU type is not supported in the boot loader/IPL code that was on the last version of the 2.0 Titan firmware. I wonder if you can do an apt-get upgrade/update on a rpi, then boot it on a rpi2.

THat might be the best way to go. Or you can still buy a rpi 1.2 B unit.

C

I wonder if this is something Tarkin can add?

Vegas

Most likely not. My firmware upgrade makes as little changes as possible to the underlying linux due to licensing. I could add a button that would perform apt-get upgrade for users but... this is extremely risky for users to perform on their own w/ little or no linux knowledge.

Ive also purchased a miner that had your firmware on it, very nice work!!

I dont know what else you have planned but if you are taking suggestions... graphs (graphs are always pretty) of average mining rate over a time as well as power usage. Im not sure if the power usage stat is realtime or an average but an average would possibly be nice - as long as it was acurate and not showing low due to BFGminer restarts and such. Maybe also a stat on watt/mhs to see the efficiency. None of these are show stoppers and to choose between this and a more stable/faster rig, go with the later but just thought Id throw this out there.

Thanks for your efforts in this!

As per your suggestions. There are some graphs by clicking the "more goodies" link on the status page.
The power usage stat is realtime. There is no averaging, there really doesnt need to be. Miner power consumption is pretty static when mining is constant =)
I could probably work in the watt/mh , but this is easy math that anyone can do w/ a calc, but I understand it would be a nifty little stat. I could probably write it into my next release.

GenTarkin's Mod ~ Custom KNC Titan firmware v1.0.4 RELEASE NOTES - maintenance release

-Energy Saver: Fixed an issue where in some situations Energy Saver would get stuck on a stage in an infinite loop due to incorrect die counting results.

-Energy Saver: If incorrect die counting results still results in a loop for stages.. wrote a fallback to guarantee no infinite loops would occur by forcibly going to the next stage if the current stage is running for over 48hrs.

-Energy Saver: If any dies are detected being auto-bypass when user starts Energy Saver, it will show a notification that those dies need to be set to OFF(and settings applied) prior to starting Energy Saver.

In short, if you installed my previous builds and had energy saver run for over a week...then its highly possible one of the stages is stuck in an infinite loop. This release will fix that.

note: The updated download file is found in your account if you purchased the "FULL COPY"
note: Prior to upgrading, please stop Energy Saver if its running. Then install upgrade, reboot then start Energy Saver.
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DAG_cleaner script for eth mining in windows... on: April 07, 2016, 02:51:45 PM
Language is autoit. It can be compiled by downloading autoit. I can make the .exe, I will make it available soon =)

I may, also add auto miner reboot when a new dag goes live, I notice many miners fail to switch over to it properly.

196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / DAG_cleaner script for eth mining in windows... on: April 01, 2016, 09:43:42 PM
Simple, Auto-It script works, it can be compiled into a .exe for ease of use:
It just deletes everything except current used DAG and the newest DAG(one going to be used).
I made it because newest genoil ethminer crashes whenever I try to set the autodag deletion feature. On 12 different rigs it crashes =(

Just a heads up, I cant get -E old / all  to work on windows, the miner just crashes on start.

mine looks like this on my shortcut.  "C:\Program Files\Athereum 0.9.41\Release\ethminer.exe" --farm-recheck 200 -G -E old -F http://192.168.1.13:8546/miner/90/asrock --cl-local-work 256 --cl-global-work 16384 -t 4

i havent seen where you need the /all  maybe i missed something..

Best Regards
Doug

oh that was just a sentence structure placeholder for AND/OR =P
I mean I tried both old AND/OR all

I placed my -E old at the end of the miner arguments, it shouldnt matter but maybe it does ... actually...I know it doesnt, because I tried ethminer -E old ... without any other arguments. It still crashed on start.

If this is very indeed legit then finally we have available ASIC on EU!

What does this mean?
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 28, 2016, 09:43:50 PM
ive taco'd a few, toasted a few, hell im toasty right now!

in all seriousness though ive been able to push 4 titans on one board up to 250-270 range and keep it stable,
it took a lot of firmware hacking and liquid cooling, but it's totally possible!
And if people blow them up I can fix them :-) But really might be a better investment (not for me of course) to run them a bit cooler since these actually seem to have value over time. Which is kind of amazing.

Even when I was GPU mining, I found that undervolting and running a bit slower/cooler was always a better option than hitting everything on head as hard as I could.  I'm not surprised that the Titans also run better this way.

When I first got my Titan, it was totally unstable, but I wound up running it a little slower and it was better that way.  I should have taken the hint.  With everything that's transpired since then, it makes perfect sense.

Yeah, it makes complete sense that stuff works much more reliably when they are ran within spec. Running them reliably out of spec is always a gamble. Unfortunately, most mining hardware is made like shit. You get lucky when you can run shit hardware out of spec and reliably =) The even further problem is when manufacturers market them at a default speed which is beyond spec and miners think thats within spec. So, you have all this highly unreliable junk .... just to keep miners in competition with each other and further fuel the greed.
The end result: Mining hardware manufactures are the only ones who really make the money in this game.

but, as far as running out of spec .... as long as you keep things cool enough, 90% of the time you can get away with it just fine.
