I meant real by comparisson with the make belief process that happens inside the game universe.

Btw, regarding the ingame mining, does having more mining cells, therefore increasing your hashing power, allows you to get more game BTCs than your oponents, like what would happen IRL? And the "whiteholes" thing, wouldn't it better mimic the Bitcoin nature if location for mining wasn't important, the only things that matter being your hashing power and the profit margin of running the miners? (perhaps part of the gameplay would involve protecting your mining cells, that are more expensive (either in energy,cash or in time to create) than other types of cells, and roaming the environment in search of places with better temperature (for reducing energy wastage) and better sources of auxiliary energy (sunnier places if the cells run on solar power, or places where some plant that produces some chemical "fuel" grows more easilly etc); you can consider the two different types of "energy" (the game BTC, and the Sun, or chemicals or whatever) as somthing kinda analog to food and air, each type does somthing different, life forms can live without one or the other for a small period of time, but both are essential for the long term survival of individuals)

I don't think the price of the Dollar should matter. Having said that, the minimum amount allowed shouldn't be hardcoded into the system,  an easilly changeable setting would be a much better alternative, and don't forget that if things go as planned, in the future even a fraction of a satoshi will be worth a lot.

Oh, and +1 regarding the idea of having an expiration date for the retrieval of the tips; perhaps the service would take a small percentage and donate the rest to the charity (or simply the Bitcoin address) of choice of the tipster; not only this would reduce the wastage of coins but having a deadline to pick up the money might stimulate people to not let it go more than if the money stayed was promised to stay there forever.

What do you think about instead of explicitly charging people to play, you instead add real mining functionality in the game code that will send any earnings to an address you own?
1748  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Multiple instance of bitcoin with the same wallet on: April 04, 2011, 11:50:34 PM
Would it work if you used only two copies, one that always only mined, not spending the money, and keeping the same address, and another that has that address, that you use to spend and receive money as usual? Besides the lag 'til mining earnings show up on your spending wallet, is there gonna be any issue?

Ahh,... so Aggression is a Natural process.  Grin

Wait, how what i said leads to that conclusion? 0.o

Aren't you saying: through the destruction of life, comes not only more life, but the destruction of life is part of the process for its continuation.

...

No i was pointing out that there are many cases where one species can get nurishment from another without neither being harmed, much to the contrary; the fruit tree offers the hanging fruit and the oozing nectar, and the animals in exchange help the plant with it's reproductive cycle, and no one gets hurt, much less killed. No "initiation of violence", the animal eats somthing tasty and the tree get its rocks off.

(All this talk is starting to gimme images of getting head from a hummingbird...)

...

Inter-species aggression is higher then intra-species aggression (especially if you eat meat, but even not you kill the plant to eat it). ...
...

Not necessarilly, there are many species of plants that give animals nectar and fruits in exchange for non-destructive assistance in reproduction; the animal still gets fed, but the plant not only not get killed but actually gets helped with creating new life.

Would the "serifs" and the top bulge being smaller than the bottom one be official parts of the symbol or are you suggesting any capital B with the little horns and feet woud be acceptable?
1754  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Coming up with a Game Name Contest (5 BTC award with possible 1 BTC bonus) on: April 04, 2011, 03:42:41 PM
I'm confused, is Bitcoins just game money used for the game mechanics that happens to have the same name or you have to pay real money for playing the game for a given amount of time?

Btw, have you played with Evolve 4.0? Seems to share several aspects with your game idea.

Oh, and could you elaborate on how Bitcoin gets involved in the gameplay please? Is it real bitcoins or a game money that works on a similar algorithm?
1757  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Coming up with a Game Name Contest (5 BTC award with possible 1 BTC bonus) on: April 04, 2011, 05:03:02 AM
Here a few ideas:

* Swarm (perhaps with the logo emphasizing the "war" part)
* Swar
* Swarmy (pushing it?)
* Goop Army
* Gene Control
* Unit Power (both referring to the power of having all the individuals, but also how they all working together as one gives the group power)
* Massatack
* Infec
* Biowar
* CA
* Krowd
* S.O. (Super-Organism)  (the expansion of the abreviation, parenthesis and all, is meant to be part of the name)
