Security is not just about software, but about the company guidelines when dealing with wetware as well
1303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can Bitcoin help my people in Venezuela? on: June 25, 2011, 03:07:49 PM
Don't the customs check merchandise shipped from out the country? Over here in Brazil people hesitate a lot to order things from abroad for the fear customs will open their package and hold the contents ransom until more than twice the price of the product is paid to the government...

1305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Testing My Account [Security] on: June 25, 2011, 03:00:34 PM
Is the referral ID , until willingly shared, really only accessible by the user themself, and not calculable based on publicly avaiable information?
1306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox again? on: June 25, 2011, 02:57:38 PM
It's working for me
1307  Other / Politics & Society / Is it not for trying to hide the truth? on: June 25, 2011, 02:15:31 PM
In the countries the governments are restricting, or even outright banning free press, do you expect them to have any real reason for doing that that doesn't involve trying to hide or distort the truth in their favor?
1308  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transferring bitcoins from exchange on: June 24, 2011, 11:43:52 PM
You don't need to have a secure wallet, it would be better if you did though; if it's really secure you have less chance of getting your money stolen
1309  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Number Guessing Game [BETA] [Automated] [Freeplay avaliable!] Please test! on: June 23, 2011, 06:44:00 AM
I had missed the bit where you said that error message was directed at people attempting to steal accounts and we getting it was collateral damage; i thought you were angry at the people that found bugs in your game, and kinda got the impression you were accusing people of stealing money from you...i need sleep...
1310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Non-Verbal Analysis of statements by Mark and Adam (MtGox) on: June 23, 2011, 06:36:20 AM
Only if it's a very strong light, otherwise the odds are it will get absorbed on the way or back (or the photons will stray from target bouncing in the turbulent atmosphere and never hit the mirror or if they do they will miss the sensor on the way back)
1311  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Number Guessing Game [BETA] [Automated] [Freeplay avaliable!] Please test! on: June 23, 2011, 06:31:49 AM
The account got wiped 'cause you didn't check the values i wrote properly; i never managed to get any money out, as i explained here, it gave me an error when i tried to test how it would react. I'm glad i respected my intuition of not putting any of my own money into this thing.

If you're upset you lost money, don't be upset at us, be upset at you for being careless with your code and using real money when we have testnet avaiable for testing things...
1312  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Number Guessing Game [BETA] [Automated] [Freeplay avaliable!] Please test! on: June 23, 2011, 06:17:07 AM
It didn't send me any money when i tried to cash out, i hope the money didn't go to some dead address...

1313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any spare Bitcoin? I just need .0001, my car ran out gas on: June 23, 2011, 05:57:28 AM
If your car is a diesel and you're really that desperate, you might wanna try running on the grease out of the 'burgers...
1314  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nuclear Energy. Do you want more or less? on: June 23, 2011, 05:41:10 AM
People already keep those things packed with acid waiting to explode resting by their crotches; if they were at least as safe and didn't cost nor weight much more than regular batteries i wouldn't expect there to be much issue with public aceptance, specially if pushed by big companies with intense followers like Apple and Nokia
1315  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nuclear Energy. Do you want more or less? on: June 23, 2011, 04:32:59 AM
I wonder how long until mobiles will carry their own little plants

1318  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Transaction fees magically appearing, how to account for them? on: June 23, 2011, 04:20:46 AM
Also, i thought there were some measures in place so that if due to some statistical blip a transaction stayed floating unconfirmed for too long it would be canceled, so even if all miners reject a transaction the money wouldn't stay in limbo forever...
1319  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transfer Between Wallets on: June 23, 2011, 03:30:42 AM
The client only becomes aware of the most recent transactions with the whole blockchain
1320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transfer Between Wallets on: June 23, 2011, 03:28:08 AM
Has it downloaded the whole blockchain yet?
