You should be able to change the sorting options by clicking the column headers, not sure what's wrong. Also, isn't there a couple options to control sorting in the control panel?

1) PoW will be updated as hardware grows bigger...cache.

2) The point is not to make implementation of hardware-accelerated solution impossible (You can implement TBX miner in OpenCL, ArtForz already tested it, see the "Tenebrix scaling questions" thread), but to make it uneconomical (If your wonderful hardware-cruncher costs 700$ and only marginally outperforms a cpu  which costs $100, you loose the race)

Scrypt was specifically designed to be uneconomical and painful in GPU and FPGA and, amazingly, it really is
Sorry, I am not native English. What they mean here words "PoW" and "Scrypt" (not "script") ?
Scrypt is a type of cryptography. And in this context, PoW means Proof of Work (more commonly though, it means Prisoner of War, like a soldier that is captured by the enemy during an attack).

Don't people that pay for porn do it with monthly fees?

edit:of course i'm talking about porn sites, not about ordering DVDs and such

Not to mention the heat generated to get it there in the first place.

I'm not saying some of the shows aren't enjoyable to watch, but they aren't about history.

re:aliens

Usually it's things like "secret" government facilities, lights in the sky, cattle mutilation etc; they did recently come up with a show called Ancient Aliens or somthing along those lines, that one does get a bit more historyish, but that isn't their only aliens show.

Ah, the Ancient Aliens series is the only one I'm aware of.  Their documentaries on the early presidents are great, but lengthy.

According to my count of http://www.history.com/shows (haven't doublechecked the numbers), they got the following:

Aliens (counting ancient aliens): 2
End of the World: 7
Miscelaneous fiction: 5
Modern things: 10
Non-history related reality shows: 16
Actual History: 38

They indeed have a significant amount of actual history shows, but my subjective experience is those occupy only a surprisingly small fraction of the weekly grid.

ps:many shows there i don't recognize and there are a couple i've seen on TV that i didn't spot there, perhaps they use some programs from other companies over here, and i think some of the ones listed on that page aren't being aired regularly anymore.

The question remains? Damnit guys, don't you learn physics at school??? Like, that energy DO NOT disappear? If something use 1kw guess what, it will spit out 1kw of heat, be it a computer or a heater.

Well that statement is equally wrong.  An electric car (or any other non-resistance load that does actual work) that pulls 1kW won't generate 1kW of heat.

Yes it will, just not in any place or form that is usable.  In the case of the electric car, heat will be produced in the batteries, wiring, motor and braking system.

Don't forget the wheels, all that weight deforming them as they roll definetly make lots of heat (and of course even if the wheels were rock solid they would still be moving against the ground)

edit: and of course, unless the room is completly evacuated there is also air friction.

...

Great idea, but that is not what public education is for, and doesn't do that.  They barely teach history at all.  You could get a much better mastery of US history by watching the History Channel on cable than by attending a public school in just about any city in America.  That might not be true in Russia, but not everyone lives in Russia.

...

Perhaps the History Channel is better over there, over here all they got is shows about the end of the world, aliens, reality shows about pawn shops and repair shops, sharpshooter competition, Alaskan truckers,  people that live in the swamps, pest control, the wonder that is glass/steel/powersaws/whatever etc. Mostly i see them talking about things in the present and modern times or fictitious stuff, but history itself? Not that much.

If kids don't have interest in school, usually it's because they're "special" (retarded or genius, doesn't matter which), in those cases, school needs to adapt to suit those kids as well; you don't just give up on a kid just cause you choose the wrong way to teach them.

edit: of course i know saying "retarded" is not PC, variations on the human mind got all sorts of degrees and spectrums and other complex "coordinate systems", but i felt like being blunt.

It always ends up as heat, no matter how you complicate the route it always becomes heat in the end. If you keep running circles in a closed (and insulated) room with that electric car the room will warm up, no doubt about it.

Ok, seems legit, i was just a bit suspicious about an address being suggested out of context; i've seen people insert their own address pretending it was someone else's like that, mostly as jokes, and one or two threads discussing such type of "attack".
454  Economy / Speculation / Re: Spike finished, going back to 2 on: October 27, 2011, 08:12:17 PM
Given that Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme in it's death throes, and so many people 'know' this, it seems like a no-brainer to keep on adding to a maintenance account.
People with sufficient foresight, and also convinced of this viewpoint, will be doing exactly that.

Doesn't necessarily mean the viewpoint is correct though.

On a totally unrelated note, that IS a rather cool address:

  1Ga9Dizn1p6ctGWausC1osLSrXFdioxide

Without consulting a periodic table, I think I see Gallium, Tungsten, Carbon, Strontium and Florine.  And sort of Zink, Gold, Osmium.  I'll have to look for such things in other addresses.

Thanks Cheesy
Heh, never looked at it like that. With consulting a periodic table, I get:
1 Gallium 9D (iodine) (zinc) 1 (phosphorus) 6 (carbon) tG Tungsten (gold) (silicon) Carbon 1 (osmium) L Strontium X Fluorine dioxide.
Bracketed ones are with incorrect capitalization.

Too bad no one loves breathing though Tongue The only 0.001 BTC at that address is me testing it, IIRC Tongue

Could someone with chemistry understanding tell me what is that molecule and any interesting facts about it please?

I see, people say it's over 100% efficient because the device isn't working alone, the Sun or the Earth's molten core (or some other factor that is already there anyway and doesn't need humans to keep it going) is also participating in the process.

That's like saying a fan pointed at a wind turbine in a windy day is more than 100% efficient, right?

I don't think you can starting offering all 21billion (i forgot how many zeros actually) shares right now, some of them will not have the equivalent 'coins currently; how will you deal with that? Also, is it wise to go with round bitcoins instead of using at least some of the decimal places?
457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coming Soon! impossible to steal wallets on: October 27, 2011, 07:06:02 PM
If it is not open source - forget it.... just don't spend your time on it you will not get a dime out of it...

people that make anti-viruses or firewalls do not make them open source as that would defeat the point. With the source, people would work out ways around it.

It wont be open source, if you dont trust it, dont install it. Dont install anything ever again, why have you got an OS installed if its not open source?? have you installed anything in the past year that isnt open source?? i wouldnt trust it then if i were you.

...

I'm already suspicious of programs that make absurd claims about protecting my whatever, it's even worse when it's a paid closed source system from a random individual. I haven't installed, much less trusted, anything like that, your thing won't be the first.

But if you can use room temperature to make the air hotter, why can't you use that generated hot air to power your air heating device?

Wonder how Linden Labs goes about the Linden Dollars... I mean, it's in game, there's a central body, but in the end, is it a token as in some kind of good or is it money services? Do they have to comply with anything special?
They don't buy Linden Dollars from anyone, they only sell it; when people sell their L$ they are selling it to other people, not back to Linden Lab (notice the use of singular, it's only one lab).
