1301  Economy / Economics / Re: Untouchable Savings: Do you have it? on: February 24, 2023, 09:42:06 PM
You can try to spend less all the time while the future is uncertain. But it wouldn't be right to make the money you save to be untouchable. One that you can do is sell your watch and jewelry to a pawnshop or to your rich friend as your last resort.

It's not good to hide your fiat money these days because inflation will eat up its purchasing power which in the end, you won't be able to buy anything out of it. If there is anything that you could make untouchable savings, its BTC in your private wallet.
Great idea. There’s no chance that our savings will remain untouchable for the rest of our lives. We save so we can use it in the future, so meaning we save so we can spend it in the future and not to keep it untouchable. However, it’s not that useful if we insist saving fiat for life as it’s value will only depreciate in time. Better shift to bitcoin and invest and keep it for as long as you want, at least the profits are very huge by then.
1302  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you keep your gambling habit under control? on: February 24, 2023, 09:11:04 PM
I do have a monthly budget which I set aside for gambling only. If this budget is been exhausted, I don't have a choice than to stop gambling till the next month. This strategy has always put me in check of my gambling activities.

This is a nice recommendation, set a budget for the month for sure is one of the best ways to avoid losing money that you need and only lose money that you can afford to lose. I really like this recommendation.

What I do to control the beast is that I only take a small piece of each payment I get and use that for gambling, I take only between 5% and 10%, and if I lose that I don't feel bad at all. This method works fine for me.
This is actually a good recommendation if a gambler will stick to it and never follow his urge to gamble more. Setting a budget limit is what I also do, but sometimes it’s hard for me to control myself not to bet anymore especially if I know there is high chances of winning. But nevertheless, my gambling activities are still in control so I don’t have to worry about it as well as with my finances too.
1303  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance's 98% Dominance: Should We Be Worried? on: February 24, 2023, 08:35:12 PM
Just incase the numbers are true, I can say it is somehow risky, that's why it is always much better to store your Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies to your personal wallets.
I believe that if incase Binance will fall or likely these amount of volume in the exchange will be compromised, I believe that there  will a huge negative effect for the entire cryptocurrency market.
We know how big binance is but over 98%? Man I think this was pretty huge and it seems that they are a little bit shy there. Why they don't just make the numbers 100% but seriously I think the numbers/data's are still lying. There are also other big crypto exchanges out there so it's impossible that binance will get the majority of spot trading volumes.

Binance being the monopoly of crypto is risky because they can manipulate the price easily but the one that you are talking there which is to not store funds inside them is still recommended because after all, they are still a centralized exchange and we all know what these types of platforms can do.
The numbers are quite an exaggeration for me too. Yes, they are trusted by many traders but how about those other top exchanges that are also doing well in the industry. However, there’s no worry about here because I know people are more responsible now where to put their money after the FTX event. I just hope they only trust Binance if they plan to trade, but not eventually for keeping their funds there for long term.
1304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I gave investment advice to my grandfather. on: February 24, 2023, 07:56:19 PM
Well it's tricky for old people to invest in crypto stuffs, which it depends on the purpose of that investment for. If it's me, I'd rather suggest my grandpa to enjoy his retirement by having a trip to any place he likes. Or if he still wants to make an investment, he could just make a store, restaurant, or shop that accepting bitcoin as the payment. Elderly people get used to work for years, and in their retirement, it's bothering them a lot to do nothing in their house. Though you did a good thing by suggesting him not to invest all of his wealth into bitcoin, which the main rule of investment is, don't put all of your money into one basket.
With risks from bitcoin investment, I guess your grandfather will have a hard time managing bitcoin especially when the market is showing some recession or when there is sudden decline in bitcoin price. So I would agree more if he will just enjoy his wealth while he is still alive or share some of his wealth into his children so they can start investing if they want. Investments are not for golden age people, it will only make their remaining days stressful and become deprived from the possibility of enjoying their life.
1305  Economy / Economics / Re: To cut financial ties with original family benefits you in the long run on: February 23, 2023, 09:16:25 PM
It's not a bad idea to fall back to your folks when you are financially constrained as a man, because no one can expect some curve balls life throws but where it becomes questionable is when it becomes a norm.
As humans, there's always the tendency to slack when we notice that our needs are being provided for us and just like a poster observed, it makes the individual (especially the man) lose focus on his role to play as a provider and can become a liability as he has lost sight of what he ought to do simply because he has gotten used to finances being handed to him.
Also, one would want to fault such a behavior on the parents but I think life places one with choices, so if such an individual wants to carry on, it's his choice.
It’s not bad actually receiving help from parents or siblings, but if you rely on it consistently, you will lost the essence of hardwork. Go get your own job and work on it so you will be compensated, that way you can provide the needs of your family without asking help from your parents. And as for parents, let your children become independent by not providing them the whole time, let them work so they can get what they want. That way, you are preparing your children to face the realities in this world.
1306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rejecting odd provider's limit on: February 23, 2023, 07:50:35 PM
It's not uncommon for people to use different email addresses for different purposes, such as personal and work email, or to avoid getting spam in their primary email.
Usually, people like that will not easily give their main email address to anyone.
They are better off providing an email address that has nothing to do with their main email address so that if something happens or spam in the email, their main email address won't be full of spam.
We have to care about ourselves when surfing the internet and if we want to register for a website, don't use the main email address.
But a casino won't look into someone's email address to another casino because the casino would rather investigate what happened to someone's account in their database so they can make their decision.
You have a point here. There should be separate email address when it comes to gambling casinos registration knowing anytime it can be target of investigation especially if there is cheating done. That’s normal, although cheating is never normal for honest gamblers. But good thing, at least your main email address is still safe and is free from any investigation. Btw, i don’t think each casino will have access to the other casino, unless if it’s affiliated with one another.
1307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Ways to Make Big Money at the Casino — Without Gambling on: February 23, 2023, 07:04:37 PM
Kidnapping the owner's daughter is something that I can immediately think about because when we kidnap the owner's daughter and can take her heart to love us, there is a possibility that we will be the son-in-law of the casino owner hahaha.

But it will be strange because it is impossible. Moreover, his parents will hire a secret agent to look for where is his daughter. And they can also kill us because we have kidnapped the casino owner's daughter.
Or maybe just kidnap the owner’s daughter and demand a ransom, that will still give you an instant fortune but I’m not sure if you will really end up being fortunate, otherwise you will only end up being imprisoned for couple of years. So whatever crime you committed, you will always pay for that so never start one. If you want to be wealthy, work for it, it could be gambling I guess hitting the jackpot, but never resort into criminal acts.
1308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: February 20, 2023, 07:31:56 PM
The technology used on that AI program is something into a highest level.

That's the reason it can give predictions and speculations close to being accurate because it has lots of sources used to form an analyis.

In gambling related, if it's used as reference, nothing wrong on doing that as long as not totally relying all our bets with it.
Yeah, there is a strong AI wind right now that is getting bigger and bigger, people are acting as if this is such a normal thing because AI is looking better than ever, but the reality is that we just cracked a few ceilings and have a bit better AI and it's nowhere near the level where it can predict outcomes of games.

You can believe in that as much as you want, you can think that it is possible, but it is just not possible at all, it never will be, you will never know this result at all. Maybe a percentage of who may win could be given, but even a team with 1% chance to win could end up winning, it's not zero, it's 1% and that means there is a chance for it.
We can believe that AI can give us good predictions, but they never hold guarantees that they can be the final outcome. It’s still a trial and error method, so never make it a point that all your bets will be based on the answers given by AI machine. Those are merely predictions. It’s still best to use our human intelligence especially when risking our money in gambling. Although gambling should be more fun, but having more fun means gaining profits too aside from being entertained.
1309  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best crypto casino for Netherlands? on: February 20, 2023, 07:03:33 PM
Weird that a country which doesn't ban drugs actually bans gambling. Coming to your query, I checked some sites that I regularly play at and observed that none of them allow gamblers from Netherlands.

Do not submit fake KYC and always clarify all your doubts with customer support in any site before deciding to invest op.
Netherlands government is actually making the gambling laws more tight that they have to prevent gamblers from playing in casinos who have no Dutch license. So imagine how hard for those gamblers who are living in Netherlands and unluckily, most of the trusted casinos are also not accepting gamblers from Netherlands. However, faking KYC is not the solution, you are just making the scenario worst especially if you eventually win big amount. Always ask the customer support first and be honest that you are from Netherlands before you decide to take the risk with gambling.
1310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting strategy question on: February 20, 2023, 07:41:41 AM
The same way of strategy as the lotto is that there's a higher chance of winning so if you have the time to risk with this kind of game because of the higher chance of a return for sure you'll grab the opportunity but of course not all the time it works with the different person still ideal if you manage the risk on yourself. For me Martingale is not ideal too and as a gambler it just double and increase the number and amount of losses.
Lottery may give us huge amount of winning but the chances of winning is still low, so even if you keep on increasing your bet, that will not guarantee that you will eventually win in the end. I was addicted to lottery before but then I realized the more I keep on betting, the higher chances of losing bigger amount in my part. Same with martingale too, the prize really looks tempting, but I agree the more you increase your bet, the bigger amount of losses you will gain in the end.
1311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 20, 2023, 06:56:06 AM
^^ Tank will have to go to a another court hearing if I'm not mistaken about another case on his, hit and run. And I think this is one issue that both sides have been looking ever since they want to have this fight because it's out of their control. We don't know what will be the judges decision.

As far as the prices, $70 and as high as $79.99 has been the standard for boxing.

I agree that they should lowered the price, but everything is affected by inflation and so every business is increasing their prices nowadays including tickets.
Yes, Tank is still subject for another court hearing just last week I guess and Tank pleaded guilty of the said incident but the judge marked that there was no agreement yet of what penalty will Tank has to face so it might be or might not be the fight with Ryan Garcia will be push through. I just hope the fight will still be happening hopefully this coming April 15. With regards to the ticket prices, I’m not sure if the organizers have to lower down their prices as it’s still obvious that even if the price remains high and expensive, a lot of fans would still crave to watch the fight in Las Vegas.
1312  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 20, 2023, 06:10:39 AM
Looks like we have a fight  Cool
Tommy has boarded his flight & is en route to Saudi Arabia.

LETSSSSSS GET IT ONNNNN !
I wouldn't be too sure yet, stranger things have happened Tongue.

Hopefully, it's about time. I mean, it's not exactly Tommy's fault for the last one getting called off. He didn't anticipate getting refused a visa, and effectively banned from entering the country. Plus, honestly I don't think Tommy needs to be scared or anything like that. He's probably relishing the opportunity to make some serious money, and he'll gain quite a bit fame from this regardless how it goes.

He does need to avoid being embarrassed though, so there's always that aspect I suppose. Anyway, it's only confirmed when they've both entered that ring, and the bell goes, that's how pessimistic I've become with boxing Cheesy.
Well, it’s an obvious reason once we see them inside the ring, then the fight will surely happen. But the question is if  Tommy Fury ready to beat Jake Paul since they have been exchanging negative words against each other since their fight has been decided. Jake Paul has already established his boxing career, as well as Tommy but based on what I have seen, Jake Paul seems to be the big favorite while Tommy marks as the underdog. But I can see that these two can make a good and interesting fight. So let’s see by then who will be the real undefeated and undisputed once these two big names finally meet inside the ring.
1313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The History of Bingo on: February 19, 2023, 09:54:11 PM
Not sure though if there is a casino that listed bingo in their platform.

But here in our country, bingo games is very popular as it is being played when there is like a an event with festivities (fiesta). Yes, another kind of games that is so fun and exciting specially during last games that we call "blackout" wherein you have to marked all the numbers in your cards.

I'm not a fan of this game though to be honest.  Grin
I used to play bingo way back then, but honestly I have not played it since I became fond of casino games, not sure too if it’s included there. But you know what, bingo is still very popular here in my country even without special events like fiesta, and most of those who played are the elder people who consider this game as their leisure time. Even in my neighborhood before, there won’t be a day that they will not play bingo outside their house so once you can pass in their area, you can really witness how those people are very fond in gambling.
1314  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting fraud in Brazil 😦 on: February 19, 2023, 11:50:55 AM
Match fixing is an issue mainly in developing countries. Most of it is organised by mafia that also involves in drug trade, illegal weapon trade etc. This type of things never get old. Its very hard to avoid match fixing if your country permits completely legal sports betting options. I don't call for them making it illegal but sometimes its impossible to detect. I am pretty sure this match fixing issue happened in Brazil is only visible side of "iceberg". Noone knows what happens at other side, in deep.
Match fixing is obviously has not gone up to these days, and it becomes even more rampant especially that sportsbetting gained high demand for most of the gamblers. The bad thing is those rigged games seem even more legal than those non-rigged games. Worst thing is it leaves serious implication for sports at all levels. And I believe it’s not only Brazil that has been involved in sportsbetting fraud but also Australia, China and Spain as they have been investigated too concerning match fixing issues.
1315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Eimantas Stanionis vs Vergil Ortiz Jr - April 29 on: February 19, 2023, 11:05:24 AM
Here is Vergil Ortiz highlights, knock out of all of his opponents,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwSzeQzgLfI

Obviously, you can see and even hear the power when it touches his opponents whether on face or in the body. The way he punch them though in the body is very different, it's like a straight right, not the one that we usually show like a left hook to the body. And I think the straight might be more devastating because his opponents will usually take a knee and can't get up in time.
That is why Ortiz Jr is considered to be a dangerous opponent and that is obviously seen from his performances inside the ring. Once he starts giving his powerful punch, he won’t stop punching his opponent until he knock him down. And that’s why Stanionis should learn how to defend himself more, otherwise his opponent will leave him losing his consciousness because of Ortiz Jr hard punch.
1316  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: February 19, 2023, 10:19:33 AM
so whoever wins, If crypto-friendly and doesn't like the war, I will support him.

He may not support war but that doesn't mean there won't be one. If China attacks Taiwan, or if North Korea attack the South there will be a war in which the US will take part, despite of whoever they choose to be the president. There will also be a war if Russia uses nukes or of Russia attacks a NATO country...
IMO Biden has no chance for reelection. He's too old and is proving to be weak. A weak president makes the country look weak.
If China cannot take control of Taiwan, then most likely a war is going to happen, and US should be prepared for it. Maybe it’s just a bonus if the next President will be able to control the pressure and make the right approach so that  everything will not end up in war. But if Biden will still win, I doubt he can stop a war with China. And yes, he’s too old for a re-election but Biden seems too determined to run again, and the citizens have no control when it comes to that.
1317  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Experience with bitcoin on: February 18, 2023, 10:18:49 PM
Hello James
Welcome to bitcointalk forum

Your experience is not very special since thousands were like you and lost part of their savings after the price collapse.  All it takes is to give the experiment more time for prices to recover.  What you can really regret is that in the early years of Bitcoin, you were among the first to hear about it, but you did not pay enough attention to it, and it cost you years after that to know its value and realize that you missed opportunities that may never return again in the same way.
Well, I guess that’s part of the journey missing some good opportunities at first but eventually, you will still end up with bitcoin. The good thing about bitcoin is that there will be no early or late in investing, just as you decide to start investing because you are now aware on how potential it is and you really understand how that investment works, which I think is much better than to just end up quitting without giving it a chance to recover some of your losses and maybe this time it may start to work. Remember that when you invest, you will not really be profitable at first without dealing those hardships at first and letting you struggle at first.
1318  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: investing for beginners must be large capital or small capital. on: February 18, 2023, 09:58:59 PM
I am a beginner in bitcoin and crypto, I want to ask all of you, do you have to invest in crypto with small capital or large capital? in my opinion, if our invest in crypto for beginners and invest with large capital, it seems that if you fail, you will experience big losses, but if you make a profit, it will definitely be big, so what do you think?
Bitcoin investment has its high risks so definitely, investing at a small capital for beginners may be a good decision. Because we all know that investing does not only end up in profits, but most likely there will be inevitable losses in our first months of investment. And when eventually the investment prospers, maybe we will consider increasing our capital knowing we are also becoming more wise about it.
1319  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto aid for Turkey exceeds $4.5M in one week on: February 18, 2023, 09:48:18 PM
Quote
After three significant earthquakes struck Turkey, a Turkish singer Haluk Levent persuaded the country’s financial watchdog (MASAK) to allow collecting crypto donations, which is currently illegal in the country.

MASAK allowed three crypto wallets to collect donations for a week. Wallets belong to Levent, who publishes all significant contributions and expenses on his Twitter account.
Let's see how it's going to be the approach of the government towards cryptocurrencies once this crisis is solved. The donations might have some impact on the views of government, after all, cryptos are being an useful tool to help turkish citizens and authorities may want to be thankful for that, finally accepting the positive potential they can have in a society, including during crisis times like the one Turkey is suffering right now.
Probably, their whole perspective will be changed. They will start to be more open-minded about the potentials of bitcoin and how it will be beneficial especially in times economy’s breakdown. Most likely, they will consider now to legalize bitcoin but of course, the process might also take long since they will still have to study about it and consider it’s advantages and disadvantages.
1320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Awareness needed, 100$ or Bitcoin??? on: February 18, 2023, 09:24:54 PM
Came across this video in which a person questions whether they prefer to take 100$ or Bitcoin. The kids never took time, all of the sudden chosen 100$. I'm not specific about the location this had taken place, but it looks like they're are Western people. This makes me think, awareness is not upto the mark and in all means we need to educate people. Even the Western young generation unaware of it is really unbelievable.

100$ or Bitcoin
Education will always be important so that we will be able to distinguish the real value of a thing. Most especially when it comes to finances, at least we should gain knowledge about it, not just a simple awareness. Not only for adults, but even those kids should also be educated about cryptocurrency most particularly about bitcoin since it will be a future global currency years from now. Familiarity is not enough, they should also be educated at least.
