1521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos can use AI to get additional edge? on: July 02, 2019, 02:53:34 AM
Gambling is all about random number generation, and provably fair scheme provides guarantees that casino doesn't cheat, but we also know that humans are horrible random number generators - we are very easily predictable.

There are many online demonstrations available, I'll just drop one here: http://www.cs.stir.ac.uk/~kms/schools/rps/index.php
After a small number of games, computer becomes quite good at consistently beating you at the game.

So, theoretically a casino can observe how you place your bets, then predict your next bets and make their own bets (they always go first) accordingly. The flaw here is if this algorithm is implemented too naively, it can be abused by players by making big amounts of predictable low-value bets, and then making a big opposite bet.

This explains why there are a phenomena called beginners luck which i suppose that AI makes to make the player hooked and play in a long time. This actually some codes or systems embeded into game particularly to control the ins and outs of the gambling slots. The AI decides the winning combination depending on the money you put or some reasons.

Well, casinos do have codes or programs set up when a gambler plays but I don't think adding an AI would be necessary since with the present codes they have, the longer the gambler plays the closer it is to their house edge meaning a chance that the gambler will lose. I don't know if you have noticed that most of the time a new gambler plays, normally wins in the first few games but once he is hooked up and try to play longer they lose so that is why I think casinos will no longer go that extra mile just to rip people off.
1522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Want to quit? Here's how on: July 01, 2019, 01:31:55 PM
If you want to quit, you must find an alternative way to do something for you to forget gambling. Gambling can be very addictive specially when money involves. It feels better when you win a profit but not all the time it'll give you money. As long as you're hoping for a win, you can't stop your addiction in gambling because you wanna try and try until winning the game. Just have some time with your family and do something irrelevant to your addiction so you can quit forever.
If there's a will there's always a way, finding yourself and realign your true self before addictions comes over can be done by a person who really loves to quit, in most cases overcoming addictions starts inside yourself, finding alternatives of source of fun and trying to convert your attentions to other forms of enjoyment will work only if you are really willing to take everything in your hands.

Indeed, if a person really wanted to quit gambling then he can find a way to look for ways to forget it or look for something else that he can get his attention into, it might not be easy but if that addicted gambler has the will to quit then he can do it.
1523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Every time I sell Bitcoin pumps... Has BTC been good or bad for You??? on: July 01, 2019, 12:51:25 PM
I feel you, I just had that experience recently when I think the price will go down so I sell some of my coins but then few days after it went up and it continues to go up, I really regretted it. Bitcoin price is very unpredictable that is why we can't really determine when it will rise or go down, I think it might have something to do with luck as well.
1524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin remains the king of Crypto Market? on: June 30, 2019, 10:36:15 PM
you have already answered your own question!

there can be a new coin some day that takes bitcoin's place but so far we have seen thousands of new coins and none of them were even good let alone want to come close to bitcoin to take its place Wink

Right, for now bitcoin is the king but we can’t say for sure in the future because our technology is evolving and so as altcoins so someone might be able to create a coin that can replace bitcoin, but I think it would not be easy to replace bitcoin because it has been provide by investors and it may take a lot of work to create an altcoin that would be better than bitcoin.
1525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anything can be bought by Bitcoin? on: June 30, 2019, 10:01:42 PM
I think "anything" can be bought by Bitcoin if merchants will accept crypto such as Bitcoin as payment. But, of course, there are still some countries which doesn't allow Bitcoin as a mode of payment or doesn't allow Bitcoin itself inside their country. And not all merchants are accepting btc as payment yet. So, we can't really use the term "anything".  There are merchandises and services that can be bought through bitcoin, though. And it can surely be searched through the internet.

Technically speaking, anything can be bought with bitcoin if only merchants will accepts cryptocurrency as payments. In our place there is a restaurant that accepts bitcoin and we can make online payments using it but for other things we have to exchange it to fiat for us to purchase at a store.
1526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The longer you play poker the better you become ? on: June 30, 2019, 04:30:18 PM
Actually, it's easy to play poker because you will just memorize the rankings of the cards. It is just a basic decision if you will fight or not depends on your cards. All of us can play better in different kinds of games if we always play and try to be intellectual in each movement. Just study about it and you'll be great, no one became better or strong in just a minute, the experience is the key.

I disagree, it would be easy for you to say its easy but when you are already in the game it can be difficult. In poker you have to make smart decision to fight or fold, its not as easy as just fight or fold depending on your mood because you will only lose, and the longer you play the better you'll become.
1527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's value after being more recognized and accepted globally. on: June 30, 2019, 04:17:08 PM
If bitcoin will be globally recognized it will blast off. I mean it is already recognized in terms of regulations but if it will be considered as a currency then even $100.000 would be low price.

It is already recognized globally, it is just that there are some people that don't really know about it especially to third world countries. Recognizing it is not enough, people should use it in order for the price to increase. Many user means there is higher demand, and the higher the demand, the higher the price and that is when we should talk about $100K being a cheap price for it.

Right, we can say that a lot have recognized bitcoin maybe through websites or search engines but not all people who recognized bitcoin will use it hence no effect in the price. Some people even look at bitcoin as a scam, however the world is changing and I know few third world countries who are catching up in the adoption of bitcoin.
1528  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Savings Vs Investment? on: June 30, 2019, 04:06:32 PM
Savings is good because it is not risky because just stay in one place but it doesn't grow, meaning what you have saved is equal to what you can get. Investment on the other hand is risky so you have to be smart enough in choosing an investment, make sure you choose the right investment that can give you more profits. In investments your money grows over time without you even adding money to it.
1529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is irreversible: strength and weakness on: June 30, 2019, 03:51:12 PM
That's the main reason you should always keep your private key safe and be mindful of whatever you type or send. Once you click send, there's no irreversible of transaction. So be care and crosscheck before carrying any transaction

Exactly, we already know that once we click sent then there's no way for it to be traced back and reverse hence as a responsible investor we should make sure all the information are correct and before we make transactions we also have to make sure it is not a scam because if it is then you can't do anything to get it back unless if the other person will get it to you.
1530  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin transactions costs in the future on: June 30, 2019, 03:38:07 PM
But miners need to recover their ROI on their bitcoin mining gear, will have to pay people to maintain the mining farm so there is still a cost eventhough they will get free renewable energy in the future. And besides, mining fee is base on the hashing difficulty, so the more difficult it to find a block, the more fee's we need to pay.

Exactly, the fee will still be there, I think it would only be lesser since they will be using solar energy. Maintaining the mining farm may need a lot of money so if the fee will be free then I think no miners will want to mine anymore since they can't recovers their expenses.
1531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin remains the king of Crypto Market? on: June 30, 2019, 03:27:27 PM
Bitcoin will remain the king of cryptocurrency for a long time. If you think some random altcoin will simply come to the fore and replace Bitcoin, it will never happen. If for any reason Bitcoin will fall, it will not because of any altcoin that appears to be a stronger contender of the throne. It will be due to the efforts by the governments and the banks. And if that happens, an altcoin will not inherit the crown of Bitcoin. Crypto will be starting all over again. And it is going to be a much harder battle.

Bitcoin for me is a very strong asset and whatever efforts the government to destroy bitcoin it wouldn't be enough to ruin or let bitcoin disappear. Bitcoin is by far valuable than other altcoins and I don't think there will be an altcoin that can replace bitcoin.
1532  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's price is so volatile right now! Why should I even hold? on: June 30, 2019, 01:47:54 PM
Bitcoin is always volatile that is why a lot is investing in it and since the price is going up then I guess that is the best reason you should hold because there is a chance it will go up even more and based on many speculations it can possibly rich $20,000
1533  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEM BLOCKCHAIN COURSES IN THE PHILIPPINES on: June 30, 2019, 01:33:03 PM
It nice to hear that schools in the Philippines are having courses about blockchain so that it will reach the new generations and for them to also understand the blockchain technology better. To be honest, I didn't expect that Philippines is a very blockchain friendly to the point that it is included in schools courses. Kudos and keep it up.
1534  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Daily trade Vs long trade on: June 30, 2019, 12:45:34 PM
When I started trading my plan is to hsve daily trades but as the time goes I learn many things from it. You must dedicate your whole day for daily trading. Market can change in a few hours or even minutes. I'm more suited for long term trading, I just check my weekly portfolio to see if it went up or down. If up take some profit.

I agree, the market price changes so fast it can rise and down in a span of minutes so you have to check it more often but for long term you can check it per week, month or even years depending on what works for you, for daily trade it can be time consuming in the sense that you have to check the price daily every few hours whereas in long trade you only check it once in awhile and in my case I normally do long trade in a span of months.
1535  Economy / Economics / Re: Where and How to Spend Your Bitcoins? on: June 30, 2019, 12:14:31 PM
A lot of people in recent days have started to look into digital currency, but here is the question — where and how can you possibly spend your bitcoins and altcoins?BTC

It depends in your area, in our place there is a restaurant at accepts bitcoin, it can also be used for online payments but thats it, for everything else we have to exchange it to the accepted fiat currency  for us to buy something at a local store.
1536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling securely and sensibly online on: June 30, 2019, 12:02:43 PM
I would like to know what's your motivation to continue gambling  despite not making much profit? Do you think it is impulsive or you are still focused on winning something big one day?

It is interesting you said you enjoy it despite being unlucky

I think it is for entertainment because if you gamble for fun then normally you don't care too much attention on the bet you place but the enjoyment that you play while gambling and aside from fun you will feel thrilled while playing as well, so I think that is the reason why people still gamble even when they are unlucky.
1537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: SUMO WRESTLING is it entertaining? on: June 30, 2019, 11:31:18 AM
No doubt Sumo Wrestling is entertaining but you see the target audience is very limited and hence, not many websites take such bets. Even if the sportsbetting sites accept these bets, there are very few people who'd know enough about the game to place a bet.

I agree, sure it is entertaining to watch but it is not a sport that people normally bet on, the most common sports that betting sites cater is basketball, soccer, badminton and many others but I haven't encountered yet a betting site that has SUMO Wrestling. Also it isn't that popular of a game or sports now so I think only a few knows and watch sumo wrestling nowadays.
1538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is why I am so frustrated with bitcoin on: June 30, 2019, 11:17:30 AM
Dude, if you can't stop being too emotional then you should quit trading.

Market is where people make money, you can't expect anyone to be happy. One man profits == one man loss, vice versa.

Bitcoin dominance is too great atm, which is why alts got crushed easily. But when it goes sideway, most of the time, alts will rally like hell.

Use your brain and do your own strategy.

I agree, whether we like it or not altcoins come and go that part of the reality of trading so if you want to trade or invest in altcoins make sure you choose the right ones. But if you think altcoins aren't giving you any good then why not invest in bitcoin instead since bitcoin. In bitcoin, you can guarantee success but there can also be a time bitcoin will go down at times so you have to be prepared as well.
1539  Economy / Economics / Re: thinking of selling or investing more. on: June 29, 2019, 05:41:56 AM
For me I want to do both, I have been holding bitcoins and with todays price I wanted to sell some of my coins but I also wanted to set aside for investment in case if the price of bitcoin will continue to rise. I also wanted to invest in some other coins but it seems other altcoins are going down so i’d rather go with bitcoin only.
1540  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: should i continue trading ? on: June 29, 2019, 05:22:48 AM
I think you just need lots and lots of practice, trading can be very stressful and hard but with the right knowledge then you’ll be able to gain profits. If you have to research again ask advise from professional traders then do it, don’t let your experience now make you stop, just continue to learn and you’ll be good soon, just apply all that you learned.
