1161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why did you miss Bitcoin? on: October 30, 2021, 05:41:36 AM

If time goes back 10 years and give you another chance, will you really take out your real money and buy it when Bitcoin is still considered air?
If you are given another chance, will you really insist on not selling after you have made several times the income and hold it till today?
If you were to give you another chance, would you really listen to my advice and allocate a bit of Bitcoin as an asset?
No, you still won’t. After all, I'm not an expert, because you don't believe that the future of Bitcoin will exist like a sea of stars.

* If I'm given that chance to go back 10yrs then ofcourse I would really have that initiative take out my own money knowing that it'll be much more valuable in the future and be more comfortable.
* Yes I will hold as much as I could practically, then take out only what's necessary like needs and small wants then the rest is invest for the future.
* Yes you can say that you are no expert and you don't know that bitcoin will be this much valuable today, if ever I would take some time to do reserch after I hear your advice.
1162  Economy / Economics / Re: Taiwan invasion - how would it affect bitcoin on: October 29, 2021, 04:57:25 PM
I don't think there will be an invasion anytime soon. Although it is true that China could easily take Taiwan by force if they intend to do it, China is also very much aware how it won't happen without fighting against allied forces as well. And that wouldn't be easy for them. That is a war that wouldn't be worth it. Not only would China fail, they will be humiliated.

As to its potential effect to Bitcoin, I guess there won't be much unless it will become a full-blown war, which I don't think will happen. The China-Taiwan tension has been around for some time. The tension rises and falls but it never escalated into a war.

It may not go into war since the US told the news that they are not looking to make war but only to assist Taiwan not to be invaded.

But China has become aggressive in response to the fleet surrounding Taiwan which includes US and EU ships. They flew over Taiwan's airspace with more than 50 fighter jets recently, they reasoned it's an exercise for their independence which dates back to 1 October.

These countries are just finding ways to see how each would react and who will first shoot. American submarine also bumped into something under South China Sea, the report is just not very clear but they were talking about drones underwater or something.

Yes, this it's true that China always trespassing laws wether if it's in sea or air and yet they always have an excuse that they are just exercising their rights and China keeps on bullying neighbouring countries like Philippines and Taiwan, it is almost safe to say that China wants war but doesn't want to make the first move to declare war along other countries.

If a war will happen then not only bitcoin is affected, it's a global issue because it's happening in South China Sea where almost 70% of the worlds cargo, crude and LNG travels along this strait. As of bitcoin, I think the value would eventually rise because if US helps taiwan against China then their currency will start to drop and many people will start to convert their respective currencies to bitcoin as the lose trust in their fiat.
1163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will these coins survive 5 years? on: October 29, 2021, 03:32:38 PM
It's hard to say exactly which coins will survive 5 years, this is quite a long time. On your list, I only trust the top 3 coins ETH, ADA, DOT all three are potential coins and huge communities. The remaining 3 coins are quite new, we don't know if it will continue to exist if the bear season lasts like 2017 or not. So I'll sell them when it's profitable and I'll buy some bitcoins, that's awesome.
the potential of these three coins is very strong to survive even though it is possible we will not know what the next 5 years will be like but these three coins are very interested in today.
at least for the next few months this coin will continue to grow and for this year this coin will definitely continue to grow.
on the other hand i also like eth and dot but for cardano i just started adopting them

I'm with you mate, those 3 coins is feasible to survive in few years to come even if we don't know what the future holds.
However, to me I have one priority coin which is ETH other than bitcoin and then I also invest in other altcoins which projects possibilities in the new future to make myself gain and profit, then sell few amount to invest more in my main coin to maximize my portfolio.
Nevertheless, we never know what will happen in 5yrs from now so to be sure I always make sure to invest other alternatives if those stated coins above doesn't make it.
1164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Learn to laugh even if Bitcoin is crashing on: October 29, 2021, 02:18:58 PM
Agree with you. Maybe what is meant here includes our patience in dealing with the market, especially in Bitcoin. This is the importance of good emotional control from you to yourself. Don't be sad if BTC goes down, the market cycle is starting. You just need to be patient and monitor market developments as often as possible. It is easy to say but in practice it is certainly difficult, so keep thinking optimistically so that you are sure of the steps you take.

When you know that bitcoin price dump are temporary ones and sooner or later bitcoin will again reach new highs, then there is no need to worry or panic.
Yes, We can laugh on those who says that bitcoin will die on every dump and they are always proved wrong. I don't care if bitcoin reached 50,000$ or 40,000$ from here, because no matter how much the price drop, it will eventually move to 100,000$ and beyond.

Rich mindset is indeed needed in this industry because in the first place we aren't here to lose money, we are here to invest and make money which would later on make our lives more comfortable than those regular days we had. Learn to laugh to reduce the stress (if you have) and when the market dips, see it as an opportunity to invest more to make your portfolio big and then hold again.

Bear always in mind that this is a long-term investment requiring long-term commitment.
1165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Reymart Gaballo (WBC bantamweight) on: October 29, 2021, 06:11:47 AM
Holiday is a good season and most of the people have money at that time so maybe many speculate that on this month the fight should happen since they have money to spend betting on their favorite fighters.
I think so, next December 11 is a holiday and followed by the new year, it makes sense that many people have more money, if they want to bet on Donaire vs Reymart.

In the interview yesterday, October 15, Donaire had considered that their fists had both been negotiated, in the interview Donaire said he would respect and do his best to Gaballo in the boxing ring this time, although Gaballo kept mentioning idols.

I'm sure the boxing between Donaire vs Reymart will take place well and professionally, I thumbs up to Donaire responding to Gaballo professionally.

Yes, the timing of the fight is really good for Filipinos as they have the longest Christmas holiday in history, which starts in September. And maybe this is the first time that Gaballo as well will travel to the US to fight right? So that experience is there.

And hopefully they will give us a good show, respect for Donaire for being in the game for so long now. But maybe it's time that a new name in the sports will take over like Reymart. It will be a beautiful Christmas for him if he upsets Nonito.

Yes, I can also feel that this will be a different fight and because this two great boxers are from Philippines, I guess it's safe to say the we can get to see toe-to-toe exchanging punches this coming 11th of December this year.

Maybe it's time for the new to replace the old, but I guess Nonito won't back on easily for Reymart. Even if this young blood have a KO rate of about 88% than Nonito's 66% KO rate, still Donaire have the experience advantage.
1166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling addiction is getting real on: October 28, 2021, 12:22:27 PM
lost 20k in 2 days , used up all my profits from my portfolio , and i just wanted to keep on going . how you guys stop yourself from betting/gambling on casino ?

looking for ways to bet on sportsbook but not on casino , but stake does not provide the option for that .  Undecided

Updates for the following matters

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the finalize thoughts and last post that i will be made regarding on my betting addictions and about this post .

1.  Lost 20k just in 2 days after 'touching' on slots . Before that i mostly just play on Sportsbet ( mainly UFC ) and do tradings most of the time . never really a heavy betters . Most of the time i just watch some streamers bet in twitch.com

2. 20k is alot not gonna lie . Although did not affect my life as i just used up my 'profits' in trading for the past few month, learnt from this mistake. And i was going to 'double-up' on trying to get back the money i lost in slots but stopped it . ( glad i did not redeposit again , if not 20k is might not the final amount here )

3. For Sportsbetting / Slots , i will take 1 month back and rethink on what happen in the last 2-3 days before back to gambling . From what thought and watching the post that you guys gave me , i mostly will stop on gambling for awhile especially slots. Side note : as I am a huge fighting fans (MMA) but usually just bet 100-500$ bets . The way i lost 20k is that i just tried to earn some huge wins by buying 'bonus' and not by rolling spins. Maybe this is way i lost so much in short amount of time .

Just chat with the support , Will start my exclusion after UFC 267. ( as I already placed my bets on it , and after the event will just withdraw from Stake and start my 1 month exclusion ) and back to my trading .

Thanks for the support and reply . Appreciate it and wanted to say , stay off from gambling or bet on what you are willing to lose. Will continue to update my post .  Sorry for the bad english , as it was not my main language.

-bets is on 20k USD

What? You $20k in just 2-3 days time? Sorry for you loss man, I can't even imagine how did you lost it consciously in just a short time frame. Yea maybe that money was just a profit from trading recently as you said, but dude 20k is 20k even if it didn't affect your life.

Certainly you're still quite lucky enough because you managed to stop even if your mind tells you to take back and recover from your lose, because that's the most crucial moment before you get yourself addicted from gambling. And yes you should take some rest and let your mind and body breath for a while before deciding wether you'll go back to retrieve what you lost or just stop it for good.
1167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are NFT games also another way to gamble your money? on: October 28, 2021, 06:16:33 AM
Playing with NFT games with a risk of losing or desiring to gain a value either fiat or cryptocurrency is already considered as gambling. But I see NFT games are more of investment to me because it requires time, effort and money to eventually generate  profit from it especially when you are playing it rather than gambling and just wait for the outcome without the effort.

Many professional gamers nowadays are preferring to play with NFT to make money rather than just enjoying it.
1168  Economy / Economics / Re: Ways to avoid being scammed!!! on: October 27, 2021, 01:13:45 PM
Just don't talk to a stranger on social media and in all any forms of contact that just contacted you abruptly. Scammers will do almost every trick once they've already a scheme and strategy. Some might choose that they know and those random victims.
Never talk to anyone that you haven't talked to before if it's about making money or how to build your wealth through investments. Because most of these scammers are playing psychologically and using people's weaknesses to trick them and one of it is through money and greed.

Yes I have heard about this also, a friend of mine was a victim of this. His identity is being copied and are using her name and image as bait to a foreign people especially in Aisa to extract money in a form of MOL points and it can be used to buy avatars and weapons to some online games in excange of cash.

Main point is, no one is safe from any form of scams or identity theft. We just have to make secure to never give our informations to anyone even friends who might use it illegaly, especially in social media.
1169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin anonymous? on: October 27, 2021, 12:04:58 PM
Is Bitcoin entirely anonymous? It’s common for people to say that in reality bitcoin is absolutely anonymous but are not knowledgeable enough to know that is pseudonymous . Bitcoin being pseudonymous rather than the assumed anonymous gives us an understanding that each user has a established public address. So that further tells us theoretically bitcoin address can be traced back using an IP address or an exchange account.
We should be more concerned about to what level or extent is bitcoin anonymous ?

What you said is right, bitcoin is pseudonymous rather than being anonymous. People isn't too knowledgeable what are this difference at all that's why we have some reported cases of bitcoin stolen from the owner who failed to secure their wallets.
We are just using a pseudonym after all and are using public addressing just like what you said op that looks like anonymous or unknown, but these addresses are just a scrambled letters and number but idea is the same, yes it can be traced by the IP you're using even if it's a VPN because these records are being written in the public ledger called blockchain.
1170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon doesn't own Shiba? on: October 27, 2021, 09:07:00 AM
I found a news that the Shiba Inu commuity is not happy with Elon Musk. $SHIB crashed after Musk revealed he didn’t own it and only had BTC, ETH and DOGE. Elon Musk has a Shiba Inu puppy at home. Elon Musk has joked about Shiba Inu, but Elon Musk doesn’t hodl Shiba Inu.

Replying to one of the many Shiba Inu accounts on Crypto Twitter, the famous Elon Musk confirmed that he didn’t own Shiba Inu, despite being a highly influential figure for that community.

I think this will have an effect with the Shiba price but not a big effect because Shiba is still at 0.000042$ at price even if Elon musk revealed he doesn't own Shiba what was your thoughts on this folks?

This is one of the prime example why we shouldn't trust what Elon said, it is almost looks like he's just playing and making speculations out of the blue just like what he did on Shiba Inu and bitcoin recently to create an impact on the token or coin. People nowadays are relying and betting on Elon Musk about making a hype.
Currently, Shiba Inu is down by 1.83% few hours after his tweet.

Elon Musk brings back Shiba Inu to Earth - Dogecoin is the only meme token he's betting on

1171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: October 27, 2021, 05:53:08 AM
People are losing faith in him because things have not been great for Joshua in the last fights, he lost against Ruiz which was one of the biggest upsets in the history of boxing and he did not looked good at all during the fight, it is true he won the rematch but he did not won by destroying Ruiz or anything like that, so while the win was deserved no one was impressed by it, and now he was completely dominated by Usyk, so people are not confident at all he can win the rematch against Usyk.

Sure. Even if we assume that Joshua will be lucky and will be able to defeat Usyk (in super heavyweights there is always a chance for an unexpected knockout), this will not change the fact that in the next match against Fury he will be an obvious underdog and such a fight is unlikely to cause a lot of excitement.

Indeed Joshua have lost his face in the crowd during his fight with Ruiz and also against Usyk in their last match. No one believes in him anymore that he'll win against Usyk this time except his team ofcourse. And even if Joshua will fortunately win this time, he'll eventually lose against Tyson Fury and will definitely teach him.

I kinda excited to watch Usyk against Fury tho, these two fighters is much more entertaining to watch.
1172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Going public saying you own Bitcoin is not safe anymore on: October 26, 2021, 04:42:10 PM
Nowadays we need to be careful when publicly admitting to owning Bitcoin. A lot of crypto traders have been receiving threats as in the case of Daniel one of the guys from Chart Champions.

Things are escalating as, apparently, a 14-year-old kid from England got kidnapped after bragging on social media posts about having lots of money made from trading cryptocurrencies.

That's why I don't like anyone to know I'm in the Crypto business.

Having bitcoins or a full-time trader isn't something to brag about publicly, because evil minds nowadays are already lurking almost everywhere and worst they are the ones whom you know or a relative. So in order to secure yourself and keep your family safe it's better not to boast about it or even share a tiny detail that you're on bitcoin doing trading and stuff.

If you can't bring yourself in that state, it's better to relocate somewhere else where nobody knows you or anything you do. And install cctv or hire somebody if you can afford.
1173  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you making money online? on: October 26, 2021, 02:54:02 PM
I'm currently working at a normal 8-hour shift job, 6 times per day in order to make a living, but I was always seeking some extra income that could be earned at home. Moreover, I'm doing my internship now, in order to graduate, in which I'm working from home, online. However, I do not actually count that as an online income, due to its nature.

I'm interested to see how other members of this community earn money online, either if it's a full income, or some extra pocket money. I used to trade a few months ago, when I was out of work due to Covid-19 restrictions. Likewise, I've stopped now because it was causing me anxiety, while at the same time having limited time due to being occupied with work.

Although I've stopped trading, I invested my money into DeFi projects, the first vault I joined as a liquidity provider, was an algorithmic stablecoin (Bolt Dollar), which resulted in approximately $1.000 in gross profit, before sinking into the abyss. I've now resigned from risky vaults and invested into Stable LPs (Currently in Iron - BUSD). It's a small reward but involves minimal risk and action.

My last source of online income is signature campaigns, I've been in one for quite a while and I wish I had more time to post more, but I do not, I'll prefer to not post crap all around the forum just to get my post count up.

I might not make much, provided I had more free time than I would definitely earn more, but I'm satisfied that I have another method of earning some kind of income. How are you making money? Are you a full-time trader, a DeFi investor? Let us know!

Currently, signature campaigns are my only source of making money online. Just like you op, I've been posting on campaigns for a while now to meet weekly requirements but I'm trying to post helpful as much as I can and also reading other member's posts who have high merits for me to learn how to contribute more helpful posts.

I'm also learning how to trade in order to have another source of income. I know it comes with risks that's why I've been researching during my free time, still it's a long road for me but atleast now I'm not starting from scratch.

The only hero who work counter Magnus is Rubick.

But after that match team spirit ban the rubick, IDK why every team not ban Magnus and choose to counter the hero. Horn hook is to op because collapse keep combo that skill with skewer.

Because their ego are trying to prove that they can counter Magnus within the next game with Lycan and Tiny instead of banning it to prevent Magnus from setting them up and hunt them one by one until the end. Ember Spirit and Terrorblade are also carrying that game and made it hard for PSG.LGD to pressure the lanes.
But PSG.LGD still worth to watch against Team Spirit despite ending in 2nd place.
1175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: October 26, 2021, 07:30:24 AM
That's how it is! This announcement was left for the end of the 2021 Bitcoin Conference with the participation of Jack Mallers.
Among the most impressive that helped me understand why bitcoin will be the currency that will lead the country of El Salvador is this.

Quote
"Over 70% of the active population of El Salvador doesn't have a bank account. They're not in the financial system." -Jack Mallers

https://twitter.com/TheBitcoinConf/status/1401279373223866369?s=19

At the conference the president of El Salvador makes the announcement.

Quote
President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele: "Next week I will send to congress a bill that will make #bitcoin a legal tender."

https://twitter.com/BitcoinMagazine/status/1401279550538108933?s=19

That is a nice move Mr. President, now it's just a matter of time before the legalisation of bitcoin and make it a legal tender. I know that their congress will approve that bill because that's just a beginning to help and make El Salvador's economy lively. It may be much longer for them to understand how bitcoin works but atleast they're already starting.

I'm sure that the people in El Salvador right now starts doing crypto related business. Crypto enthusiasts and investor will start to look for some spot too.
1176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if Elon musk launches his own coin? on: October 26, 2021, 05:10:10 AM
Coming up with his own coin will probably be a very smart move for Elon Musk, and with how he has been able to move the market with his words I and optimistic if he comes up with his own token it will flourish in the current market and make a lot of money for investors. personally I am looking forward to that move by Elon Musk

Elon's move isn't gonna be a smart move for everyone and literally if you follow him maybe you'll profit but not in the long run because he moves unpredictively. I mean we'll know how he manipulated dogecoins for his own good, then look at dogecoins now?

Personally, I'll just invest small amount in Elon's coin if ever he'll make any. I'll just wait for the hype because I know his type, and eventually gonna sold mine to provide more investment in my portfolio.
1177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advice: 1 BTC on: October 26, 2021, 03:23:33 AM
If I were to advice him/her, I rather let him/her choose first what makes you happy either if it's a vacation, personal wants, lifestyle, buy it but not necessarily to splurge it all. You deserve to get some reward especially from all those hardwork you did.
And then the rest like 60% remaining will go for another investment, much better to choose two to three investment like bitcoin, real estate and stocks to have a passive income as much as possible with those remaining bitcoins.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fake bets on: October 25, 2021, 02:42:01 PM
Edit:
This seems to be a pretty controversial subject, so I decided to write this blog post to expand on my thoughts on this:
https://twitter.com/CSGOEmpireV2/status/1375068884584267778

I'm curious to hear what the Bitcointalk community thinks about this topic;

Casinos using fake bets to attract new players.

I was surprised to learn that the vast majority of videos and streams on Roobet.com are actually fake.
Here are a couple of examples of different deal formats that casinos are making with the influencers:

A) Bet amount inflation; The streamer only wants to gamble with $100. The site gives them "$10000" in funds, but only 1% of this is withdrawable. The viewers will think that the streamer is gambling with $10000, while in reality, they're only risking $100.

B) Infinite refills; The casino makes an agreement with the streamer. Let's say they want to pay the streamer $50,000 for a sponsorship contract. They start giving the streamer endless $1000 refills, which the streamer is supposed to gamble with. They will repeat this process until they "win" $50,000. The streamer will pretend to be shocked and highlight this big win in all of their social media channels. However, the truth is that there were zero risks involved for the streamer, and the final outcome was already known -- It was just a matter of time.

I brought this topic up in Roobet's Bitcointalk thread, and I was quite surprised to see a lot of people defending them, saying that this is totally justified. They mentioned points such as:
- "This has been going on for years. It's normal in the casino community."
- "The streamers are honest about it. They have a disclaimer somewhere stating that it's fake." (Their explanations usually are very indirect and abstract.)

In my personal opinion, this sort of marketing is highly deceiving and dishonest. Roobet (and other casinos) are inflating their systems with fake bets, pretending to be more popular than they really are. This is a loss for both, legit sites that don't want to inflate their numbers, and legit streamers who don't want to participate in the circus of fake bets and fake reactions.

What do you think?

This is already common not just in the gambling industry but also in other industries as well like action-games, food and beverage industry just to acquire new customers.
But in gambling industry either if it's online or not, famous streamers and vloggers are their main target to make some advertisement for them because these guys have already many followers and the casinos can use that and take advantage to bring in customers especially for those casinos that are just starting up.
Yes it's fake and we know that, and probably it's a personal knowledge but it's their tactics to gain regulars and it's up to the people if they can be baited.
1179  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price of an iPhone in Bitcoin at their launch over the years. on: October 25, 2021, 01:14:56 PM
2,857 BTC for iPhone 4. I wonder if someone actually bought using BTC.

Not investing on phones that normally gets obsolete after a year. Thats a good lesson to learn, I'd stay with Samsung that lasted for more than two years now. I wasted $43K since I bought iPhone 7 when it was released and then got broken for approving some IOS updates. Worse is that non can repair it.

Same here mate, I practically don't buy anything fancy especially when it comes to phones that every company produces latest techy phones for almost twice a every year. I always prefer Samsung because it is user-friendly, bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S9+ way back 2017 for almost $1.2k and I still use it today without any defect.

Just imagine if you buy a latest iPhone 13 for 0.02 BTC. Although many can afford it but for me, I prefer to invest that btc instead of spending it just for a latest phone just to fit yourself in a social circle when you already had one phone.
1180  Economy / Economics / Re: Simple reason why crypto is preferred over fiats on: October 25, 2021, 09:37:06 AM
That's because no single person or group of persons is or are in control of Cryptos, it's called Blockchain technology

It's a decentralised system meaning money sent or received from or to an account can be seen or monitored by everyone or anyone who wishes to

Unlike your normal bank that has CEO who decides how he wants to run his business, he can collaborate with the president to Syphon millions of dollars and no one will know about it

In the Crypto space, such is not possible because any amount that leaves your account can be monitored and traced by anybody at all

So stealing with Cryptos is almost not possible

And again, Cryptos rise/fall every second, but the chances of rising is higher

That's why Bitcoin of $10 today can turn $14 in 14days time but your $10 in the bank will reduce to $9 after bank charges

So a time will come when everyone wouldn't want to be cheated again by the banking system and would move to using Cryptos for Saving money and other transactions.

There are still people who will always use and prefer fiats OP, people that are into crypto usually is to invest and save because in reality bank is just there to store your money and have word "savings" but in reality you didn't save any because you pay them to store and secure you fiats.

And bitcoins can be stolen too, not in the system. It can be stolen to those bitcoin owner who failed to secure their funds.
