1341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When did we find out Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym? on: November 08, 2020, 07:13:54 PM
A man fond of cryptography will always be in encrypted-mode, that is Satoshi is known, its been more than a decade yet no one still knows who the hell is this person.

I've read that both theymos and Sirius hadn't any special contact with Satoshi. Sirius purchased the domain, helped by spreading bitcoin and theymos was later an admin on this place. (I believe that satoshi gave him the admin role)
Sirius gave and took over the admin role to theymos

Satoshi created the forum on Nov 22, 2009, and was head administrator until almost 2011. Then Sirius was head administrator until 2012, which is when I took over.

1342  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New Ledger phishing mail targets individual users on: November 08, 2020, 06:07:13 PM
Never received a "personal" notification from Ledger after the original hack... have not received any phishing emails or SMS messages recently (not even to my spam folder).

What I did receive was an email from Ledger with the subject heading "Ledger Security Alert: be cautious with phishing attempts", which (somewhat ironically) went to my spam folder Roll Eyes So, kudos to them for at least trying, I guess Roll Eyes
Fortunately, had this the same, I tried to check my 2 emails used to purchased there since I purchased there more than 3 times but never received this phishing email, but I received an email on july regarding the e-commerce & marketing breach and this "Ledger Security Alert" just this oct. though in spam both.
1343  Local / Pilipinas / Re: May Maganda bang FUTURE ang Cryptocurrency kung si JOE BIDEN ang mananalo on: November 08, 2020, 05:01:35 PM
A Biden win means a win for corruption and the Deep State

Masyadong bold 'tong speculation na 'to or pro-trump lang ang ini'interview?, though still a question kung pano magiging ganyan ang mangyayari. Regardless sa anung future law/bill/opinion ng US or ng POTUS regarding bitcoin/crypto just leave it like that.

N'ung nga tweet ni trump na di siya fan ng bitcoin, parang bullish pa CT at mga crypto users e, what if mag mention siya or si biden na positive support regarding sa bitcoin/crypto e di mas bullish yung result.
1344  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Fake Ledger site on: November 08, 2020, 03:57:42 PM
I guess most users who have a hardware wallet like ledger knew the risks of exposing their recovery seed to any website or software aside from using related apps only with their ledger and its USB connector.

So it's good to assume that once a hardware wallet user knows already this kind of scams, well, except to clipboard malware and downloading fake ledger apps since it's hard to detect especially to those who are fond of downloading random apps on their device without using any device protection such av.
1345  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin break its previous ATH record of 20K before end of 2020? on: November 08, 2020, 03:18:10 PM
History always repeats itself but you never know when it does. The Bitcoin made all time high record back in 2017, the track record of BTC is that every three years it breaks it ATH record.
Who knows? Bitcoin might be or not for the year 2020, but that doesn't mean it will not increase next year or in the next next year or so.

Even we didn't say "history always repeat itself" bitcoin will always be since it was designed as a limited resource and with the law of supply and demand, we can assume it will tank high in more years to come. The only question is when.
1346  Economy / Economics / Re: The Difference Between Staking and Investing on: November 08, 2020, 02:37:08 PM
both are profitable but it depends on your capital. Staking just provide small yearly interest like in a traditional banks
Profit doesn't depend on capital.

Staking does not mean profit, the coin your staking may increase by number but that doesn't mean profit. Investment, on the other hand, is different it requires broader knowledge, skills (a bit), and analysis.

but investing give much higher percentage of profit in just a short period of time but it depends on how much, what or where did you invest.
Maybe you're referring to trading not investing? there's no "short period of time" in investment, there is a short-term investment, but "short period of time"? maybe it's day trading or so.
1347  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Saan Maganda magsimula ng AIRDROP Event? on: November 08, 2020, 01:47:30 PM
What I observe sa mga pa contest and giveaways like ledger at sometimes binance one time gumamit sila ng gleam.io where mag re'register ang participant using twitter/facebook/email or google siguro? tapus yun nga may mga task na like follow twitter, like a facebook page or post, subscribe sa youtube, minsan subscribes pa sa email, at etc.

Quote
Have you ever used Bitcoin ATM and, if not, would you like to use similar devices in the future?
Not yet, there's nothing here in my place, but I would like to experience if there is, even just once regardless the amount and the fees. But expect fees is so damn high.

Anyway, it's a great progress for a 1 new atm an hour.
1349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Without banks, is it possible to move physical currencies to Crypto? on: November 08, 2020, 10:54:42 AM
I dont think any of the processes you mentioned will elude the use of bank account. Most fiat transaction on-line will require bank account, If I dont know any you can help but Fiat lately is not built for transfer online without the use of bank. Remittance and other measure are even more risky than the banks, OTC can cater for the absence of bank if one can present cash but that is not also safe.
Wrong, seems like you knew much better than what other people are experiencing here.

As I said, it doesn't require you to link a bank account. Yet, you can transfer from this e-wallet to banks, withdraw to a remitance, deposit to a local stock exchange's platform, deposit to crypto exchange, pay bills and many more and that's vice versa. For more info you can search Gcash.

How do I top up my e-wallet balance for the first time?
Late respond, but let me answer that, here you can top up the e-wallet using hundred of remitances available here, using other e-wallets, 7-Eleven, also with mc/visa and banks but it's not necessary that bank acct is linked to the account or have the same info on the e-wallet's account.
1350  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: KOS imosang HNC SCAM FRAUD ! Very sophisticated SCAM ! on: November 07, 2020, 06:24:12 PM
Thanks for writing up about this coin and exchange. Never heard of them though, but what actually happened to you.

Please move (control on the lower left of this thread) this thread to scam accusation and include your proofs. Use this format btw.
1351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I accept Bitcoin for payments on my online store? on: November 07, 2020, 03:19:59 PM
Well, know your customer and your country if you know lots of people using bitcoin on your country, then why not give it a try, bit of course, don't just bitcoin for payment, give your customers options for payment.

Of course the main payment system will still be with fiat, eventually, bitcoin and cryptos would be an alternative option.
The store is more focused on local sales in the UK for now... as far as I know, cryptos are quite popular here.

I like the idea of being able to get some cryptos (not everything) instead of fiat as payment... it would save me some time instead of having to buy from the exchanges Grin

The one of my main concerns is: how safe is it to accept cryptos as payment on a website?  Huh

Yes, it is safe as bitcoin payment is irreversible, besides the volatility and confirmation time, nothing to worry about it.
Since many people using bitcoin in the UK, then it's a good idea to add a crypto payment option.
Buyer and seller should understand that both parties have to wait until 1 confirmation received on your wallet, then you proceed buyer's order.

OP's concern is more like on implementing of the payment gateways on a website which is more technical and need a developer to make it work.
1352  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus Wallet BIG ISSUES please help me to recover my money on: November 07, 2020, 03:06:46 PM
sir i can not find the page with addresses  3.81 it might be several of them but i remember the deposit date  btc. can you point me please? right after i will try to install btc recover or other option, any thoughts? i am on linux
but i can use my sis windows.

So you're finding an address with a balance of 3.81 btc or so? I'm afraid it will be too hard for you to check all of the addresses with the same balance on such list.

I guess what you have to do is the importing process of the recovery seed you have. As importing it on electrum gave you different addresses, the right derivation path should be the case and that's what you should be working with.

no, ok i see the transactions of the second wallet, the empty one, no traces of my money.      I have checked also the other wrong exodus client and it happen the same. it give you a seed that once you try to recover in other clientm just is other wallet, not yours. Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry
Can you make a screenshot of this from wallet to wallet, just filtered confidential info.
1353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NotYourKeys.org on: November 07, 2020, 01:08:56 PM
I think you should include Ownbit in the wallet list. I think it's the best compared to any others.
Unknown wallet with promising words. You should at least check other reputed wallets before comparing this new wallet of yours.

To OP, I guess you're underestimating or didn't heard on how desktop wallets especially an air-gapped desktop works, than using a mobile wallet on your definition of having the best security.

1355  Economy / Goods / Re: Paper wallets on: November 05, 2020, 06:21:17 PM
I will buy paper wallets to restore - or help with restoring damaged wallets / WIFs.
Restoring damaged paper wallets?  Is that what you mean?

And what kind of damaged you can restore?

What's your website where you operate? Why I ask? Most legit bitcoin recovery services have a website.
1356  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earning cryptocurrency on your own website on: November 05, 2020, 06:13:12 PM
people love it despite the amount of crypto they could get is so small.
so, I think it's a crypto faucet 2.0.
If I have a thought about it like what I did on my early days on crypto, then I guess its worth a try regardless the amount I will get as long that its paying. I guess that's what these users do since its not a full time job.
1357  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Naniniwala ba kayo dito? on: November 05, 2020, 04:28:25 PM
Of course it's their own way of protecting their business against abusive users. Kung tutuusin wala namang masama mag comply sa KYC as long as reputable and legut yung pagbibigyan mo. I presume lahat ng members dito ay merin coins.ph account, so what's the difference on others?

1358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I accept Bitcoin for payments on my online store? on: November 04, 2020, 08:20:54 PM
The one of my main concerns is: how safe is it to accept cryptos as payment on a website?  Huh
Yeah, that will be the next thing you should do, there are lots of payment gateways available but I'll naming a few including btcpayserver, blockonomics, coinpayments, and bitpay.

But I'll suggest to use btcpayserver if you want more control of your funds without paying % every sales you get, without kyc, and no more account lockup, though this cost you a bit developing such gateway since your the one who will host it and/or will hire a person to do it for you if don't have knowledge in programming.

While other gateways need 0-3% charge every sale you made, need kyc, and sometimes wait a bit longer til your funds get withdraw. Though you still need to hire a developer to do the work.

1359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I accept Bitcoin for payments on my online store? on: November 04, 2020, 04:43:29 PM
Are there any risks (other than the volatility)?
You said it right, every business that start accepting bitcoin payment faced this kind of, say, concern.

anyone really going to use this?
Well, know your customer and your country if you know lots of people using bitcoin on your country, then why not give it a try, but of course, don't just bitcoin, give your customers other options for payment.
1360  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Deposit money don't come in wallet. Gatehub don't answer my e-mail. on: November 04, 2020, 04:37:41 PM
I registered an account in my name on September 28, 2017. transferred funds to the wallet. saved the password and recovery key. I recently wanted to transfer my funds to the exchange and found that I could not log into my account! the support team wrote to me that the password was changed and the key was re-encrypted in 2019. I didn't! I had two-factor google authentication! I have all the documents proving my identity! I have my phone and my mail! I have my authentication key! The support service does not respond to 10 emails! This is a very bad and unreliable service! pass by! And if you want to donate your money to scammers - you are welcome!
I don't know more regarding this wallet, but when you say recovery key is this a 12-words or 24-words you saved? If yes, then I guess you can still recover your funds by importing this 12/24 words to https://electrum.org desktop wallet.

Btw you can create a new thread instead of bumping this very old thread.
