1181  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Hacker is dumping full Ledger database dump for free on raidforums on: December 21, 2020, 06:05:42 AM
Someone already posted it in the Beginners & Help board: Cyber Criminals dumped Ledger's hack database. Anyhow, thanks for bringing awareness, specially for newbies as the Ledger phishing could be one of the worst we have seen so far, phishing emails, sms (short messaging system) and then cold calling the customers themselves.
Oh, didn't see that thread. Thanks for reminding, will lock this thread sooner today.

Idk if this is okay to post here, this is for awareness since this was posted publicly on twitter.

Bin of ledgers breach mirrors.

To all users who received a phishing email of ledger before this thing might get worst as hackers are dumping all the database dumps, and anyone who has copy of it will be able to know your email, phy address and phone numbers.

So expect more phishing email, sms, and maybe treats.

What to do is ignore and mark email as phishing and spam, the same on sms.

[Edit] I found my email there used to purchase way back in 2017, this is worrisome, good thing I moved out to another location.
1184  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn 90 euros from 1 BTC on: December 20, 2020, 05:21:05 PM
I wouldn't do any stupid actions and anything jjust to get  90€ from.

I would suggest to stay away from this exchange, and if ever, just to report
1185  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 0.6495 BTC ($ 15,000) was stolen from me on Binance on: December 20, 2020, 03:08:36 PM
The OP also shared its story on Binance Reddit, and there got an answer about what actually happened. Lest anyone think that I am defending Binance in any way, but in most cases such hacks happen mostly due to user errors - and this seems to be the case here as well. The whole case comes down to the OP email being compromised, and in the case of 2FA it is also possible that the device is infected in some way, or that the OP has stored the 2FA recovery key in digital form without any protection.
This amount of money is life-changing to anyone. And assuming this money came from hard work in rl jobs, this is so frustrating.

This should serve as a lesson whether you use a non-custodial wallet or an exchange. 2fa recovery keys should be treated as important as your crypto recovery seeds and private keys especially if this 2fa recovery key is for exchange or custodial wallet.

1189  Local / Pamilihan / Re: USDT TO ETH COINS PH :( on: December 20, 2020, 11:09:28 AM

1190  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pagpasok ng Tao Sa Crypto on: December 19, 2020, 08:08:38 PM
Dahil yan siguro sa mga investments na naglitawan way back 2017 like nung ICO, that time daming ICO projects scam at legit, so matunog ang crypto mainly bitcoin. Ngayon is parang iba kase though na hype ang defi pero di tulad dati, this time is parang hype nung nasi datingan yung mga established business sa crypto like goldman sachs at paypal.

1191  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance bug " "Insufficient balance" on: December 19, 2020, 07:57:54 PM
Sometimes it happens when there's a server error, connection timeout and if the coin you want to trade was just transferred to your binance account. Idk the reason behind but this happens when I want to trade the new deposited coins on my account. What I did is wait couple of minutes and it work just normal. Though idk if it's the same as yours, you should ask them via their support they usually responds in minutes or hours.
1192  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is Copay wallet now Bitpay wallet? on: December 19, 2020, 03:45:40 PM
Is there any relationship between copay and Bitpay wallet?
Yes, AFAIK bitpay backs the development of copay wallet.

I've been using copay for some years and I noticed that it's not supported anymore, it's like the team drop any future development on this bitcoin wallet or even abandoned it, any info will be appreciated thanks
I check their github issue page  which has lots of complains, lost coins and etc.

I also check the one in playstore but I guess its fake as I
see its different the one listed on cryptoslate directory with less numbers of downloads. I didn't see  any updates from their official source regarding this as well. Though their windows and mac version is updated 15 days ago.

While things aren't good I suggest you to dont update your copay especially if you're using android as there are reports of lost coins.
Or move your funds to better wallet where you can fully control your wallet like electrum (https://electrum.org/#download)
1193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Old Bitcoin Wallet vs. New Bitcoin App on: December 19, 2020, 03:05:16 AM
I was all excited because Electrum showed me I had 4.77... bitcoin and then I realized it displays mBTC and not BTC. *cries* My $100K turned into $100. I could have paid so many bills.
This worked rather well although importing the addresses only creates a read-only wallet. I was hoping to get a tree cutdown today ($2500.) It doesn't matter. The value of my wallet is only $100.

Thanks for the help.

That's okay, I assume most of the new users like I was before shocked after importing my keys on electrum at first and then I realized that unit lol.

Anyway, your $100 will grow just hodl like what usually did and it surely it will pay off.

What you should do now is to make your device/computer safe from malware and avoid updating your electrum from the in-app notification like what other users did and got hacked/scammed though it's fixed now but I still suggest avoiding it. Always download in the official website https://electrum.org/#download and verifiy its signature to avoid such incidents.

1195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Old Bitcoin Wallet vs. New Bitcoin App on: December 18, 2020, 02:13:11 PM
As suggested above you can export your private keys. And importing your private key to another wallet will enable you to access your bitcoin again, I suggest you use electrum instead of core to avoid redownloading the whole blockchain. Here's a guide to do that
1196  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: make external links bright red on: December 18, 2020, 02:07:34 PM
Many people would be annoyed if they can't visit the link directly or read the same message on landing page many times.
It will only just take their 3 seconds time to do that. Though as suggested above it would be better if there's an option to disable this feature, but it should be enabled as the default option on the profile's settings.

1199  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: make external links bright red on: December 17, 2020, 11:22:18 PM
I've suggested before that all external links take you to a landing page first as a security measure with a warning to double check the url or something before you leave the site. That would give a buffer or a barrier against phishing links etc.
This. If only theymos agrees, IIRC steam implemented such this when accessing external links on the platform.

[Edit] Found it. Same like this
1200  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC break 21000 usd, great! on: December 17, 2020, 11:06:17 PM
At last count Mt. Gox still holds approximately 141,600 bitcoin and 142,800 bitcoin cash.
When all this BTC pours into the market, the price will fall.
Nah, it's just < 1% of the total mined bitcoins so it will just barely affect the price when that happens or nothing at all. Besides market now too hype that even 1% of sell order won't affect much, people from the other side will accumulate and just buy it.
