1741  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kucoin exchange detected a large withdrawal. Provably Hacked? on: September 28, 2020, 01:37:08 PM
So they started an insurance fund in 2018 but there's no trace of it. It doesn't make sense that you would not announce something that could potentially bring more users...

even their reddit mods have never heard of it

As a global exchange, security is one of our top priorities. We developed all the infrastructure and systems by our own to ensure its stability and security.

We have plenty of security mechanisms to protect the digital assets of our users and we are working with many 3rd parties like Chainalysis, white-hats to improve the security level.

We know that a few exchanges set up a fund after being hacked while we do not have such a thing at KuCoin. It is because we care more about how to prevent such things from happening. While of course, if any users suffered losses because of our fault, we will take the responsibility to solve the problem, and cover the losses.

(They dodged it) A year ago
Protecting users’ privacy and assets from infringement is our priority. Through a combination of account security features, frequent updates to our security policy, and vigilant monitoring of system security, we are prepared to take immediate measures for any abnormalities. Thank you!

They do have an insurance fund in their futures platform but this was established on 2019 and it doesn't look like it is made for hacking losses but instead for liquidation losses. Well, I guess they could use it for this incident, but the problem is, it's nowhere near enough (https://futures.kucoin.com/contract/history-fund) cause it barely makes $1M.
1742  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Q] Is there any way to beat scam exchange? on: September 25, 2020, 04:11:27 PM
But still, there are a lot of scammers that are much brighter and could win the case if and only if the evidences are purely alone by one person and without any other supporting claims.

or they could've hidden themselves well which makes getting back the money a lot difficult.  Same thing happened in bitconnect which I think is the motivation in suing the third parties (e.g. youtube). There's also the possibility that they can't pay their victims back because they already spent or laundered it. So yeah that's another thing for op to consider, they could win the case but not get their money back or get compensated enough.

In any case it's better to consult with a lawyer first.

The only thing that bugs me is that about provision or rule on crypto crimes. What if certain country doesnt have that? So how certain guilty can be convicted if he knows that the country his in dont have specifics yet.

I think anything with monetary value should be fine
1743  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Q] Is there any way to beat scam exchange? on: September 24, 2020, 11:34:35 AM
Where are you from op? You can always consult them first to explore your options and chances as this takes up one's time and money with no guaranteed result which is why it's not worth it if it would cost you more than the amount you lost. Try to start looking near your area first and be wary of "I can help you" PMs you might receive because of this post. Since you know ppl who got scammed too, try to bring up class action suit to see if it's a viable option.

You can also spread the word to prevent other users from falling to their scam scheme and to attract further users who might be interested in a possibly class action suit. Better update your post using the scam report format to solidify your accusation and post the same thing in other communities.
1744  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Lowest fees on btc exchange. on: September 23, 2020, 04:54:47 PM
So plagiarized content + stock photos (one | two) + virtual office (https://www.1stformations.co.uk/registered-office-service/ | address search results)

While the last too aren't exactly as bad as the first one, it does make the said service appear dodgy especially for those new in the business since lots of scammers are known to half ass things and refuse to be transparent  Undecided
1745  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com ... Disappearing bought BTC? on: September 21, 2020, 10:21:47 PM
If you can see the TXID in your trading account, check it and see if the funds went to the right address (the receiving address you have in your non-custodial wallet). If they did and they're still there, it can be glitch and in that case, I would suggest restoring your wallet inside the blockchain mobile app and see if anything shows there.
I think it's swapping from one type of account to another type like in Binance we see spot trading and leverage trading. In this case there will be no Tx.

It's a transfer between a custodial (trading wallet) and non-custodial wallet ("main"-- their wallet service) which means it'll be on chain so there should be a TXID.

@op, If confirmed that the coins didn't move, you can send them your history as a proof. Their support team is known to be slow so better follow up your ticket number in their twitter too (https://twitter.com/AskBlockchain)
1746  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Heptagontrade.com - anyone? on: September 17, 2020, 11:19:21 PM
Let's not forget the fake team (website archive: https://archive.is/RWeF1#selection-1955.0-1955.4)

As for Koen, exact pic shows up here but the website is too dodgy for me to trust. I did find a yandex zen account that looks like him but since the person posts a lot of his private life, I wont share it, plus the off chance that it's not actually him. Well, at this point it doesn't change anything if one of them is a real person although I very much doubt this one is.
1747  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Options on: September 17, 2020, 08:27:12 PM
Damn. What op linked is a phishing website, hoping no one got scammed cause owner has already fled and the domain is now up for sale.

The legitimate is https://futures.huobi.com/ which you can get from their official website (huobi.com -> Derivatives -> Futures). Remember to always triple check your links! If looking for anything related (like their sns, other domains etc..), you can get it from their official website. Also, websites that are least likely to link a phishing are great for an additional confirmation in case you're not sure if you've got the right link (e.g. coingecko, coinmarketcap etc...)
1748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Jaxx Liberty eth wallet problem on: September 16, 2020, 05:57:44 PM
I had send for support to jaxx.io (facebook). They answer me and ask me if my wallet is validated, and to send them the words! to fix  manualy my account, because it has problem!  When i told them that my wallet is ok now, they ask again the words to validate it so next time it will be ok. Is this normal? I dont think so. They try to steal my wallet. I report that page.

Did you look it up? In the future, try to just get it from their official website. Also watch out which SNS of theirs has a verified checkmark as that can serve as your guide. Better report the page to facebook + jaxx itself.
1749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Exchanges have cheap coin listing fees. on: September 16, 2020, 02:09:31 PM
Check this compilation with listing fee included: Crypto exchanges comparison [trade fee + listing fee + age + mobile app + more!]

Since you seem to be just starting, note that there's a very little chance of getting listed to a well known exchange for a zero fee if the coin/token is still obscure. It's better to start to with small markets then gradually climb your way up to the big ones as that's easier. But still, don't just list it wherever it's possible as that could backfire and tarnish your reputation. Some exchanges has a lot of shady stuff going on, the cryptocoin might get mixed up.
1750  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance is sued by Japanese crypto exchange Fisco on: September 16, 2020, 01:18:20 AM
Looks like an attempt to minimize the damage. Since there's little to no chance of getting the money back from the hackers, they're trying to get them from indirect parties that could be liable in the law. plus they filed it after a significant amount of time has passed.
1751  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Pro unauthorized transactions on: September 13, 2020, 01:28:41 AM
Interesting case for sure.
If someone breaks into your computer and your Coinbase Pro, the closest thing in my mind would be to withdraw the coins to another wallet and disappear . But in the OP's case, someone broke into only to place orders, this is more than weird and nobody will use so much resources to just fool around with your orders.

If there were a huge portion of buy order/s, It could be that it was an attempt to pump that certain coin/token. I'd be more certain if those cryptocoins have a relatively low liquidity.
1752  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Gate.io raided by local police? on: September 10, 2020, 11:01:47 PM
Asked them if this is true and they denied it (source: https://i.imgur.com/WeHPN89.png). We'll see in a few days if their statement would change. News sites are probably already working on this.

They did publish an article about kimchi in their chinese site just few hours ago. (OG: https://www.gatecn.io/article/17840 | google translated: https://archive.is/srEGO)
Looks like lots of people lost their money and are asking to get it back. The "Integrity of data" has been mentioned a lot tho, I wonder if it's part of the rumor too.

But well, I'm relying on a rough translation from google so...
1753  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM! rahakott.ch is a copycat of rahakott.io Wallet which stopped operating. on: September 09, 2020, 02:22:34 PM
They already scammed three people and these are all recent--after the real website/wallet ceased its operations.

Since the .io went down, the .ch is reigning in the first page when your look it up. I guess they just entered the word "rahakott" in their search bars.
1754  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Another exchange lost about $5 million from its Hot-Wallet. on: September 09, 2020, 02:27:12 AM
Note that Eterbase promised that users balances won't be infected by the hack and that the exchange is under temporary maintenance for investigations. However, i think about those who have large amounts in their exchange balances and how they don't have to access to it for an unknown period .

Are you talking about this?

We have reported the matter to law enforcement and we are cooperating closely in the investigation. We want to assure our clients that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure that the amount of their deposit does not suffer any damage as a result of a hacker attack.

This is just "we are doing our best to get your money back", I wouldn't count on it much. Coindesk reached out about the same thing but received no response till now

CoinDesk asked Eterbase whether it would reimburse users funds affected in the hack, but received no immediate response.

It's likely that refunds have to come out of their pocket and that's gonna sting especially for a small exchange.
1755  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Rahakott wallet SCAM?? on: September 07, 2020, 09:53:43 PM
Tried importing this guy's mnemonic (https://youtu.be/ccWX2ryPVgM) to iancoleman (https://github.com/iancoleman/bip39), played with the derivation path and didn't find the same address, so maybe it's not bip39? Did rahakott say it is or you based it on the word list?

Better check your addresses if the funds moved or not. If you dont have them with you, try checking your browser history or maybe you've sent someone a TXID. They seem to have an access to their users funds seeing how they are offering recovery of cross-chain sent coins and internal (off-chain) transfers. I'm not entirely sure but there's a chance it's not actually a mnemonic that would generate your keys from rahakott but rather just a way to access your account in the website.
1756  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: (NEED HELP ASAP) Bitcoin wallet problems on: September 04, 2020, 11:31:42 PM
@op, there were some cases where some functions would work on the app but not in the web (and vice versa). Doing it on the app could be worth a shot, just make sure you're not messing with the fakes.

Your account is restricted on Coinbase because they did not fully support your country. it is very possible that the same thing is with Blockchain.com
I don't think so, had there been country restrictions (in buy crypto), op wouldn't be able to get their account verified and eventually buy BTCs.

What exactly are you trying to do? To withdraw USD on your credit card/bank account or just to withdraw Bitcoins from there?

They're trying to move their bitcoins to an address that they own.
1757  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What are some trusted known web wallet on: September 03, 2020, 11:48:47 PM
If blockchain.com is a noncustodial web wallet then why are we having so many complaints about user funds getting blocked and sometimes users are not able to access their assets due to failure to get login verification?

By blocked, do you mean their recent issue about withholding the funds from trading wallet for 7 days? that's their exchange service. I doubt blockchain.com would upfrontly block/lock someone's funds (talking about their wallet service) as that goes against their claim-- that they do not have any access to their users funds. The login verification is more of a software/third party issue and doesn't mean they have an access to the funds.

If what they're claiming is true, that they're only getting encrypted wallet files, then it is indeed non-custodial in a sense that they do not have any access to their users funds and only the user itself holds the decrypted keys. But the wallet is very buggy and lacks essential features so it pretty much defeats the purpose of having non-custodial wallet as you can't fully utilize it. Plus you still have to trust them in keeping those wallet files.
1758  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to protect your self as designer/developer from scammers? on: September 01, 2020, 06:48:56 AM
Don't transact with op or use those terms--you will just appear shady.

One, they are not trusted enough for anyone to be giving upfront payment.
Two, Escrow protects both parties, when someone is very keen in not using a trusted escrow, it is highly likely to be a scam.
Three, they post stuff that encourages violence and profanity.
1759  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Google to switch PH BPO partner following online scam (and mentions Bitcoin) on: August 29, 2020, 08:05:10 AM
Skyes' said "a small number of employees" so it could be more than three ppl. They're actually very vague, must be trying to control the damage which doesn't help. I prefer to see how they held people accountable and that they will improve their countermeasures to prevent the same thing from happening again.

Also, I wouldn't worry much. When we had the news about the couple scamming almost 1 billion php in btc, the opinions I've seen from the locals were mostly about the scammers and their scheme, not about bitcoin being a scam. and it never really hindered bitcoin's development in the country seeing how we are at now.

and yes people trying use bitcoin because it can be mixing so untracable

No it doesn't, it can only make it harder to trace.
1760  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Just Google COINBAAZAR.COM P2P EXCHANGE or put COINBAAZAR on youtube on: August 27, 2020, 06:26:28 PM
They're at it again with another sockpuppet. This one seems to be a replacement for anshui (https://archive.is/4RRGb) seeing how its spam promotion posts stopped. also has the same posting pattern

Don't use coinbaazar, no proper service would create sockpuppets to promote.
