Good work, I will support any initiative that remove the "PP" from the pronounceable form "PPCOIN"

Nobody say BTCoin, So why the F*** are we still carrying that while 99% of people disagree/hate with that pronunciation.
I also don't see how it's technically correct in any ways.

If it's PEER TO PEER COIN (PPC), Why is PPcoin still in the client name ?

I agree and try to avoid pronouncing it like peepee coin. Unfortunately, I checked and it looks like somebody already took the web address for peercoin.com. How did that happen?

Edit: Peercoin.org is taken too. I'd much prefer those names to help get people to stop saying it the other way.

backspace backspace backspace

I wanted to say something about those people that only look at names and judge based on how silly some combination of letters sound, instead of the real content... but I backspaced it because I don't want this to start some kind of flameware ..trying to stay positive  Roll Eyes anyway, it is just a name, we should be glad that ppcoin has much more to offer than a cool name

I'd like to not care about the name also, but unfortunately many people make snap judgements based on a superficial understanding of things. If we we don't cater to these people, we have the potential of losing them. Fortunately, peercoin has a couple different names and I can pick which one I like best.

Anyway, let me know if anything needs changing. If there are no suggestions by tonight, I'll be moving forward and putting it on Reddit and maybe making a new thread.

Peercoin.com is owned by a very friendly member of this tribe. You can contact him through his site. Who knows, he might be willing to help us. Ultimately Sunny would need to agree to the website change (and ppcoin.com could just forward to it then).

I think it's a good idea. Sunny doesn't want to change the name officially, but I remember him saying peercoin is acceptable to him.

Do you by chance know who this member is? That sounds like a great solution to make people happy. Peercoin.org would display as the main web address, but ppcoin.org would also still work as a forward.

Sunny, if you happen to read this, would you be ok with doing this?

Edit: Whoops, I misread what you wrote. You said .com and not .org.

I found out the post I made on the ppc subreddit got caught in the spam filter for some reason. I noticed it would show up in the list of topics when I was signed in, but when I logged out it vanished, so I was really the only one able to see it. I contacted the mods on the page, so hopefully they can fix it. Are any of the mods there on here?

I just started a new thread... please do your part!

Somebody at the BitcoinTalk thread I made questioned whether I am legit because of my registration date. I responded that I have a long history with RonPaulForums.com and that the moderator here hazek knows me over there and can vouch for me. I sent hazek a PM about it, but have to wait until he comes online. Hopefully he can help me out.

In other news, we're currently at $85 now. There is one quick and easy thing that all of you can do to help out. My post on Reddit was finally released from the spam filter. Could you guys please upvote it? Only takes a couple seconds. Here is the link...

For those who are concerned about my trustworthiness, Bitcointalk moderator hazek made a post talking about some of our past history together, if that makes anyone feel better about donating...

Just start ppcoin-qt with this command line argument:
-addnode=69.164.204.19
That will add cryptocoinexplorer.com's ppcoin node, which should help your client to find more of them.

If that address shouldn't work for some reason, you can also add my node with
-addnode=87.144.121.201
but that IP address will only be valid for another ~19 hours.

Thanks for the help but still no luck Sad Any idea why it says "WARNING: Checkpoint is too old. Wait for block chain to download, or notify developers of the issue" ?

I had the same problem. It is downloading the block chain when you see this message. After your block chain is in sync with the network again, it should work.

Several people have asked me if we can set something up to donate to the design fund in btc or ppc and I think it's a good idea, but I'm not sure how we would we go about doing it. 99designs doesn't accept cryptocoins, so whatever was donated would have to be converted into cash in the end.

The reason I set up the donation page I did was because it would be faster and easier to pay for the contest as well as the fact that we get a donation meter so everyone knows how much has been raised so far. If we accepted cryptocoins, how would people know how much was already donated if there was no meter? I myself wouldn't donate if it was impossible to know if we had or hadn't reached our target goal yet, because there would be a greater chance of someone being able to pocket the money.

Is there any way to do this so everyone can keep track of it? I must confess that I'm not an expert in cryptocoins, especially when it comes to understanding the blockchain. If there is a way to do it, I think somebody else other than me should handle it, somebody that everybody already knows and trusts.

Might be OT so forgive if this is in the wrong place:

I recieved my first mined 'Mint by Stake' of 0.5 PPC on June 9, 2013.

Since then, my entire balance (320PPC) has been stuck? as a stake amount.  I am unable to spend any of my balance. PPCoin wallet says 'Amount exceeds your balance.' when I try.

So my balance says 0.00 PCC
Stake 320.349 PPC
Unconfirmed 0.00 PPC

It's been like that for the past 3 days. So weird.

Any one have any info to share on the situation?

There is 520-block maturity on stakes. Generally it takes about 3 days for stakes to return to balance.

Seriously? My entire PPC balance becomes unavailable for 3 days if I get "lucky" enough to mint a stake? You don't see this as a problem for any semblance of mass adoption?

Hypothetical situation: I do a deal to pay in PPC on Thurdsay.  My promise is to pay for goods delivered, on Saturday.  On Friday, I mint a stake.

Do you see where this going?

If you needed the balance, why would you mint with the balance you know you're going to withdraw? If you need the liquidity, you can stop minting by stake.

You would mint with it because you wouldn't know, like I didn't, that the minting process is going to tie up your funds for 3 days.  It's not like it's posted anywhere a person could reasonably expect to find it.

From what I can tell, the whole minting stake business is the concept that sets PPC apart from the rest of the cryptos.  Now you are saying, if you want to make use of this neat, novel, new feature, sorry, but you can't spend it.

If I wanted to spend it, I can't mint.  So what's the point of using PPC in the first place?
