UAE have planned to make the league a big one same as IPL. The UAE population is close to 10 million. Among that only 11% UAE nationals whereas the majority are from the Asian countries. Amongst Indians are about 3.5 million and Pakistanis 1.2 million. This makes UAE strong in cricket audience. So, expats of India and Pakistan playing for UAE seems to get opportunity through this league.

I think UAE can host a big house like IPL. Because like developed cricket countries, United Arab Emirates has many good quality studios And we all know people of United Arab Emirates are a lot of cricket fans. And since communication technology in UAE is less pollution, we can easily believe that they are like IPL Can organize such a large-scale tournament. We know that the United Arab Emirates managed to successfully host the first T-Ten League in their country

UAE has no shortage of money. So they can host a tournament as big as possible. They have the money to do basically anything. But the problem is they themselves don't have enough skilled players. And probably that is the reason why they have decided that one team can have nine foreign players. in the national UAE team, we can see that most of the players are foreigners. so even though they are very enthusiastic about cricket that doesn't actually have players who can play cricket at the top level. But as I said they don't have any shortage of money so they are going to make this tournament very big.

Okay i checked more into it so calculation are more like this. 35 Matches affair and tourney starts from 6 Jan to 12 Feb.

18 member squad for each team (6 teams). Which includes 14 overseas players (Including 2 Associate players) 4 UAE players (including 1 from U23).

In Playing XI every team can add max 9 overseas (1 must be from Associate members) and 2 UAE players are must.

Through this league ILT20, we can easily estimate the potential of franchise based cricket. Franchise based teams will play more in future. spectators are hoping that cricket will add a new dimension and its popularity will increase. It is true that more talented players can found easily.

BTW, I would like to see the overseas player cap in the IPL increased to 5 in playing XI. 5 overseas players and 6 Indian players would give the ideal balance. Last time, I had a feeling that some of the players (such as Riyan Parag and Shahrukh Khan) were there just to make up the numbers.

@Sithara007 do you personally believe that associate player’s can dislodge Indian or existing foreign player position, because despite their talent I feel that they won’t be able too make their way into the playing 11.

Lastly it’s not an bad idea because at times I too feel that the additional Indian player isn’t helping, but I feel that this move will be met with lots of resistance if BCCI ever decided to implement it.

I think if they can take such initiatives then the popularity of cricket will increase in many areas. Because currently IPL is the most popular domestic cricket in the cricket world.

The problem is that IPL is just not a revenue-for-money to BCCI. IPL is that final test for a player to prove himself. After all the first-class cricket and Ranji trophy and other things, IPL is the place where kids in India get a proper chance to prove themselves. So that is a big reason why I don’t think the number of overseas players in a team IPL is not going to increase.

Even with 6 Indian players, there will be a minimum of 60 native players spread across 10 franchises. If it gets to 70, then there is a possibility that not all the franchises may be able to find promising players. And also, IPL is being branded as a global league rather than one that is restricted to India. That is the reason why the ICC has allotted a 2.5 months time window for this tournament. And also, we are talking about the upper cap, and not the minimum requirement. Give franchises the option to field 5 overseas players. If they are satisfied with the local talent, then they may go with 3 or 4.

If someone watching each n every game then ofc fatigue is natural but fans hardly do that.

When any event goes for longer period of time then spectators become selective, they opt to watch only their fav players or their respective franchise fixture or interesting match-up. In next 5 years i do see tremendous possibility of IPL going into 12 team format or if BCCI get lucky then even 14.

Reserved spots of five players for overseas could be cut in near future as we have some more quality leagues like right now we are heading for ILT20 even it's Indian based but good for many players and specially for associate countries specially when no Pakistan player involved again because this will also associate players chances for having their spots in this league.

Still, here we need some ICC involvement in this all because foremost they need to sit and talk with all big leagues about their schedule which is very important if they are able to settle and giving all fair chance then surely future is bright for them even window is just available for IPL and no other country eligible for this and can talk about this as well with ICC or other boards.

And there is a real possibility that the share for associate members may go down even further. During the last cycle (2016-23), the allocation was reduced from $52.5 million per year to $20 million per year. That is around $200,000 per year to each of the associate nations. Ireland and Afghanistan may demand a greater share, since they are also full members. In that case, the allocation for the associate members may get reduced.

Hehe Ikr tabhi toh bola BCCI should propose this bill in ICC meeting and see how ICC shit their bed. This will ensure that BCCI would not get unnecessary backlash of being greedy and killing the game, especially from English media.

According to recent news Indian broadcasters are not participating in the mock auction, unless ICC make the bidding process transparent. Let's see what happens next.
