You will notice that India is second only to China in terms of population in the world and everyone in India loves cricket from their heart.  A huge amount of money is spent on this cricket in India every year.  70% of the cost of cricket around the world comes from ICC India.  If India loses in any major event especially the World Cup then the people of India do a great loss to India.  Cricketers from all countries except Pakistan participate in the IPL which is organized in India every year.  This is like a festival for cricket lovers.

When the IPL started in 2008, no one ever imagined that it would grow to become the behemoth it is today. Back then the Indian economy was not doing great and the media interest outside India was insignificant. Most expensive icon player was Sachin Tendulkar, who was purchased for $975,000 by Mumbai Indians. During the auctions, Mahendra Singh Dhoni attracted a bid of $1,500,000. Mumbai Indians was the most expensive team, brining $111.9 million to the BCCI. Now compare this to Lucknow Super Giants, which was sold for almost $1 billion.

@Sithara007 I vividly remember the 2008 IPL and all credits goes to Lalit Modi, but after he was ousted out of power I thought that IPL would end but the upward trajectory of IPL has shocked all including me.
However if it continues to become bigger and bigger in duration then I’ll completely stop watching it, and I’m sure that many other fan’s too will boycott it as it’s USP was that it was a quick tournament but now it’s been made longer just to please the advertisers which is really disappointing in my personal opinion.

^ The problem is advertisement is important. Without the advertisement that revenue is not going to be generated and so here is a give-and-take situation for IPL. And the tournament getting bigger and bigger is also going to hurt international cricket as well. There will be a problem if the tournament stays like this because I do not think fans are going to be interested in watching the tournament if nothing changes.

I think the best plan is going to be to keep the number of teams the same and increase the number of overseas players in a team. This is going to make the IPL more interesting. But the problem is searching for talent, might be hampered, if that is done. I do not see a change being made, other than having some problems. As I said it is going to be a give-and-take situation.

Shahid Afridi has become the interim Chief Selector of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The leg-spin all-rounder, who led Pakistan to win the T20 World Cup, started the feat with the responsibilities. He did not consult the coach and captain before selecting the harmony team. Then he made a harsh comment about the T20 format. The ex-Pakistan skipper left Hunkar and said that he will not be considered in the national team for the T20 format unless he has a strike rate of 135 in domestic cricket. Pakistani cricket fans jokingly suggested the retirement of Pakistan's T20 captain and opener Babar and his opening partner wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. Because Babar and Rizwan are alleged to have played the T20 format like a Test.

If you have person like Shahid Afridi as your chief Selector then surely you have to expect many controversies and other problems as well because he has never been ideal person for this spot which he has just because of his few good comments about current Prime Minister of Pakistan right now I was reading on few social media sites and other news related sites he is bringing few players those are out of team for their spot fixing and other cases which is surely never been allowed and surely will bring more problems for the Pakistan cricket but currently no one is having power to stop him from these things because he is currently in charge and have been having back of President of the PCB and Prime Minister of Pakistan as well.

I think he has made the right call after all. Because the players are not going to perform better unless they are pushed. I think Shahid Afridi is trying to do exactly that. He is trying to push the players to perform better.. I don’t know how it is going to turn out. The way Babar Azam and Rizwan played the T-20 cricket is not very optimal for the team. Obviously, they are the best two players that Pakistan has right now on the team. So the expectation is obviously going to be higher from them. All I am going to say is I expect better changes from Shahid Afridi compared to what has been happening in Pakistan cricket. And I hope that he does not get any pressure from anyone.

India's huge amount of investment in cricket and right now IPL league is being on the top  and the main reason behind it  that they have a big part in the side of viewers all over the world. And it's possible because of their huge population. and since sponsorship and investment are all dependent on viewers, i think this ipl league in india will remain popular and top among the leagues.
But now it appears that India will not be able to host the 2023 ODI World Cup as per the ICC rules if they do not give their tax exemption to the ICC. So I think if Government of India does not reduce the tax amount to 21.84% then in future they may not host and BCCI may lose a big revenue from it.

India and the Indian Cricket Board will not do anything that does not prioritize their interests. India is one of the current Big 3 in cricket. But i consider India to be the most powerful among them. IPL is currently the most expensive and well-established in cricket. It is the biggest event in franchise cricket till today. If ICC does not look after India's interests then ICC may also lose big revenue. None of their tournaments will be successful without India. So I think both of them will definitely try to come to a solution on this matter.

That's true IPL is a biggest league in the world and all the big and famous players from all over the world plays in that and their salaries are big amounts . India is a developed country and has world biggest and strongest economy,  the businesses and franchises who purchase players are extremely rich.  Remaining leagues BBL , PSL, LPL they don't stand anywhere near IPL.
Now the connection of ICC , India has alot of control over ICC interms of finances and all so that's why they can't take any decisions against or not in favour of India.

What was the contribution from Lalit Modi? The league was the idea of Subhash Chandra of ZEE. The BCCI started IPL in order to counter Chandra's ICL. The format was the same. The bidding process for new teams was not transparent and Modi was involved in a lot of scandals before and after the start of the league. Once Congress lost power in 2014, he fled from India with his looted wealth and currently he is living as a fugitive in London (which is home to more than 50% of the financial criminals around the globe).

We have to understand that most of the people in power are not there to improve something. They are just doing the work so that they can eventually loot enough money and go somewhere else to live a happy and improved life. And obviously, if that certain person/persons can get citizenship off that country, in this case, London/England, he is set for life. This is basically the same principle that the government of most countries have. Why do you think most of the family members of certain politicians or influential people are living abroad?

Completely agreed with this all because after Kerry Packer this was second revolution in cricket which bring billions of dollars as investment and now cricket is one of the most charming sports in subcontinent specially India having amazing development just because of Subhash Chandra and ZEE which bring this in reality and Lalit Modi take good advantage of his position and done few big unauthorized things which helps him for having millions of USD and now lavish life in country which is stand on our money for Centuries because most of the criminals are settled in England with their billions of USD and enjoying good life without any conviction and problem.

For me this change of power was positive for the IPL and BCCI because now things looking much better and having positive impact on game as well, hopefully things could be more improved in near future for all parties.

2023 is probably the year in which cricket will be played in largest number of multi-sport events. We have the Asian Games starting in 23 September 2023. At least a dozen countries are scheduled to participate (BCCI has informed that they will not be sending a team to Hangzhou). Cricket has been included for the 2023 Southeast Asian Games, which will be hosted by Cambodia (It was not a part of the 2019 and 2021 editions after getting included for the first time in 2017). The 2023 African Games will also feature cricket, and the matches will take place at Accra (Ghana).

Viacom18 is increasingly becoming a challenger to ESPN-SONY and Star in India for Sports broadcast rights. After winning the TV rights for FIFA World Cup 2022, now they have won the TV rights for 2024 Paris Olympics and 2024 Youth Olympics as well. ZEE has won the rights for ICC tournaments for the 2024-27 period. In short cricket will become more expensive for Indian viewers, as they need to subscribe to multiple TV channels and OTT platforms. I don't know whether this is a good thing or not, but Viacom18 OTT platform (JioCinema) has made most of the matches free to watch so far.

Because Babar Azam and Rizwan are both reliable batsmen in Pakistan and under 135 strike rate. Apart from them, I doubt whether there are any players in Pakistan at present who are belongs to play well. I am sure he will amend his statement.

Shahid Afridi statement is basically about Pakistan batting as that Is a major setback for Pakistan in recent times , Pakistan couldhave won several matches easily but batting weaknesses already brought them defeat.

If he has given a structure and schedule that means there is something behind Pakistan organising Asia Cup.  Alright it is confirmed that Pakistan is host for Asia Cup but still things can change specially when it's India and ICC.

In subcontinent things are never been ideal for positive development because here two big nations hate each other which is surely not acceptable and currently Jay Shah is completely politician which will never end this all for any positive result for Pakistan even they have to stop this event Asia Cup because this can create problems for them in India so most chances this is going to create more mess up and things will never been ended with on table talk.

Given this, their refusal to travel to Pakistan sounds illogical.

Asia Cup 2023 is likely to start in Pakistan as per the schedule. As per ICC announcement, 2023 Asia Cup will be hosted in Pakistan. The upcoming Asia Cup 2023 will likely end with 12 ODIs and 1 final match in September. There are various rumors about this Asia Cup but they . are meaning less. The decision taken by the ICC is final. If there is any change, it must be determined by the ICC. If Pakistan is able to fulfill the conditions of ICC then Asia Cup 2023 will be held in Pakistan.

BCCI always tries to dominate the cricketing world with its unfair claims. Being powerful and wealthy is different, for the same it should not behave like they're everything. As said, when the hosting rights is given it should've made its claim and refused the proposal. Now days have come closer and claiming for venue change isn't fair. As said ICC won't be interested in shifting the venue, but it'll be in favour of India.
