depends on what you say "soon", if soon is next year, then it is quite impossible. if it is 40-50 years, then it might be possible.

I don't think that it will happen, a lot of community groups will strongly opposed that especially banks business. USD currency is considered a world currency being used many years in different countries in making any transactions compared to bitcoin. Yes, I accept that bitcoin is known and became hot topics in internet and local news, but replacing USD with bitcoin be impossible to happen. I can say, maybe bitcoin can surpass USD in online transaction but in local it could be hard because a lot of investors still believe on USD and many doubts with bitcoin currency.
I do agree with you. USD is a part of this world and it can not be replaced either by bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. The USA is the strongest country in the world and therefore, the number of countries using this cunrrency is very high. I think that most of the countries on the world consider USD as a secondary currency besides their national currencies. In the future, when bitcoin becomes stronger, bitcoin and usd will both exist on the world economy and support each other

Nope. I dont think so because bitcoin is a digital money and we all know that we are living in the world of reality. We must know that in our life we must rely on our reality not on our digital money. And if you cash bitcoin it will turn ito dollar because they didn't have paper or coins for bitcoin reality. So I think doar will not replaced by bitcoin. Maybe in the next 20-30 years bitcoin will not replace US Dollar but who knows what happens in the future. If everyone had a mobile device with internet access bitcoin, or maybe other crypto, would be a great way of payment. Right now we are far from that, that's right. In my own opinion i think it will be a very long journey for bitcoin to replace the dollar. Dollar's been there for as far as we can't remember, and still standing very strong. Maybe someday another crypto currency will rise, maybe stronger than bitcoin but its impossible to replace the Dollar. Yes agree, it takes a journey and a very long stage, of course must be started with a large user, then transactions between countries that still use the dollar switch to bitcoin. when japan and south korea endorse bitcoin, then this is a good sign, hope other countries soon follow. It takes a lot of things to only be able to compete with dollars (not replace). It may take a very large adoption where the user has covered the whole world, then there is no problem with bitcoin, etc. It takes a lot of things because the dollar is very strong and difficult to replaceThat's true. Dollar will not be replaced soon that's for sure. Bitcoin adoption has only started, and us dollar is known to people for centuries. It takes a lot of time to educate people around the world, right now many of them can't even read, let alone grasp what bitcoin is.

that's a tough question. it is not the time comparing Bitcoin with Dollar. both are currency and accepted almost all the developed countries. but there is some issue should be discussed. dollars has been accepted wherever you go but Bitcoin is limited in comparison to Dollars.
if you talk about availability, then Dollars also get the priority than Bitcoin. so that Bitcoin must need some time to reach the level of dollars.

Bitcoin indeed very popular in the world, maybe even beat the popularity of currencies some countries because igh value as now. however, that doesn't mean bitcoin appears to replace existence of dollar as a measure against other currencies. bitcoin is an alternative for transactions that are only individual.

yes that is right to say that bitcoin cannot replace dollar soon, but it will take a lot of time. i think it will take decades when all the people of the world will start using bitcoin, but still bitcoin is becoming popular and therefore are more possibilities that a time will come when all the people of the world will start using bitcoin.

Agree. A lot of factors must be taken into consideration before Bitcoin can stay at the pace of fiat currencies like the dollar. Over the course of years, the dollar has remained as a prominent and trusted currency by people all over the world. It has been the reserve currency for quite some time, and it will become difficult for Bitcoin to gather that trust from average everyday people. The pioneer cryptocurrency is still at its infancy, with many underlying issues such as the ability to scale for a wider audience, greatly reducing its chances from becoming used in the mainstream world. It may take a couple of years from now, for Bitcoin to fully mature into a solid cryptocurrency that will be able to handle all of the world's payments. When this day comes, Bitcoin may not replace the dollar, but it will certainly become used alongside the dollar for everyday transactions. Just my thoughts

I also think it is impossible because Bitcoin needs the dollar and by extension other fiats in order to be exchanged and coexist but for it to outdo the dollar means it will be solo and risk being centralized.

It would have been better to completely clean up the financial system. If the central banks had not flown to the rescue of the banks, they would have been forced to act in a much more responsible manner under penalty of bankruptcy. The Bitcoins offer an opportunity to set up an international financial system that would no longer be dependent on central banks and would punish not rresponsible
I agree with this but since banks are in the bed with governments then they were rescued from their own mistakes but next time it happens, and there is going to be a next time, no one will save them.

I highly doubt. USD is a big currency, having a physical and expensive market price are big factors. USD is one of the highest currencies because its country is rich. I think, Bitcoin is not yet even close on surpassing Dollar since it is being used by lots of countries and people. It has a large community , as I've said, it is used by lots of countries and Bitcoin is only legal to some countries. Which also means that USD quite on different level. At present bitcoins are not able to replace dollar but within a score, it will probably happen. Though dollar has strong market reputation but bitcoins too are not less than anyone. They are the king of digital currencies. With little more support and increased common use, bitcoins will stand next to dollar. I have the similar opinion. Dollar is nothing immortal. There are many currencies that are far better than dollar and have the potential of serving world in better way. Bitcoins are one of the best examples. Soon they will get legalized by the invincible support of people, replacing dollar forever. We just need to wait and watch.

I think bitcoin will not replace dollar soon even though in 15 more years later bitcoin is becoming popular, because bitcoin may not can be used as a payment in all places, especially small traders, it may only just as a digital currency and good investment

Nope. I very doubt government will want to relinquish control... As a sub currency it could gain mainstream use but i think there will be much blood before BTC replace the Dollar. Yes, I do agree with you. The government won't allow BTC to replace the current national currency as they won't be able to impose taxation on BTC and won't even be able to control transactions, due to BTC's decentralized nature. However, I do think that it has started to gain some mainstream usage, what with tech giants like Dell and Microsoft accepting BTC, and the more this adoption increases, the better for us and BTC.

dollar is the currency with the world's largest marketcap, it seems to be hard to beat the dollar in the near future. It took at least 50 years to beat the dollar.

Maybe NO, Maybe YES. That's must be Fifteen(15) years from now, many events may might happen in our world. So that, we don't have a surety that thing or theory may will happen. Yes I do, I accept that bitcoin will have the role in this world and making it as like a dollar. But I don't know if that bitcoin will replaced the dollar in future, but I guess it is a NO.

Soon is an extremely relative term. Bitcoin overtaking the dollar is certainly possible if scaling goes well and we don't go through a load of different forks that would only confuse the grand public rather than solve the problems we face as a network and a community. Replacing the dollar will be extremely difficult. The dollar, and fiat currency in general will be difficult to replace since it's not only a manner of payment but a mindset. And history shows that mindsets are hard to change especially when people grow older. Perhaps it even might take a full generation before bitcoin completely takes over.

Bitcoin can not replace the dollar, because it can only be used by those who have the Internet, and the dollar can be used by all people on the planet. Thus, it will be possible to speak about this in a few more years when everyone will have the Internet.
