I feel sorry for him and he has done brilliantly to get back to where he is now but this
looks like his limit.

I don't know if he is really frustated; I think he loves the game too much to retire. He has nothing more to prove, he won multiple grandslams and became olympic champion 2 times also. If he keeps losing, there will come a moment that he starts to realise that it is best for him to retire as an active player but until then he will probably keep on playing tournament after tournament.

BIG WINNER!

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Yeah, and as the match goes longer, the more Murray will be put to the disadvantage because of his age and his body. So I would say that the surface of the tournament didn't go on his way here.

It's very difficult to bet successfully on Murray matches. Of course he has the talent to beat almost anyone out there, but his physical side is not the same after his injury and surgery, and as you say, the longer a match goes on, the more of an effect it has. And even if he wins a long match, there's a good chance he'll lose the next one regardless of opponent, just because he can't play a lot of matches in quick succession any more. It must be really frustrating for him, he just can't return to his previous level of winning slams and even (briefly) being world number one.

You are right. He does have the capability to defeat almost everyone in there but his age and the surgery has been a drawback for him. If he's not able to finish matches faster that will make him lose most of his matches. Another thing is that he has left his golden times way behind in the past so it will be unwise to expect so much from him.

Does anyone know what his immediate goals are as a player? I mean what does
he think he can achieve currently? does he expect to win at least an ATP250 title?

I think his only aim is to get back to the very top and challenge for slams again. I can't see that aiming for anything else would make sense. How could a player with Murray's history and pedigree possibly get motivated if he knows he'll never break back into say the top 50, let alone the top 4, where he used to belong?

It may be that once he accepts he won't regain his previous level, he'll consider retiring.

The only other alternative really is that he simply loves tennis, and loves playing, and the result is a secondary concern - but I can't see that this is the case.

Maybe he would be better off on the challenger circuit if he is after tournament wins.

I would also say he is massively frustrated but there has to be a time when he has
to simply realise that its time to quit.

@aoluain You are right. Personally, I don't think that he might be able to win any more titles after his return to tennis again. He has aged and ages his getting the better of him and adding the surgery to that and we can see that he has left his peak time way behind and to be honest, I think his retirement is very coming very soon.

I agree, he just probably enjoy the game itself, and not targeting of anything, he knows that it is difficult to win a tournament right now, with his form and the players in the current circuit.

He might as well just play it the way he wanted and that's it.

Bublik vs Ruud currently, Ruud won the first set 6-4 already. His probably gonna take this in two sets. Last game for today, hopefully we can get some win in Paris.

And to add to that, he is very competitive, I mean the fire in him to try to compete at high level tennis despite his age is still within him. That's why sometimes we see him pulling a upset win and we thought that he is back, and then games that he is frustrated because he thinks that he can still win big.

Nevertheless, he is the only one that can decide whether to quit or not, but as long as the love and passion is there, no one can stop him.

Ruud won easy enough from Bublik, 6-2, 6-0. For Bublik to only win 2 games in the
first set and got bagled in the second is very poor by his standards.

Bit of an upset in my mind was Tiafoe losing out to Giron in 3 sets. How many
times have we seen that, where a finalist of a previous tournament gets despatched
early in the next tournament.

I watched the Djokovic v Fucsovics match last night, 1st set was predictable with Djokovic
winning that but Fucsovics won the second and broke Djokovic's serve in the 3rd but his
service game was horrendous and his downfall.

Big day today, Tsitsipas, Sinner, Medvedev, Rublev and Zverev all in action.

I think Norrie's chance of making the ATP Finals has gone now. Paris Masters is the last big tournament, and even if he keeps winning, he still has to face Djokovic in the quarters. Losing in the quarters would get him 180 ranking points... he'd need both Sinner and Hurkacz to lose in the last 16 (which seems highly unlikely) to give him a chance... and even then he'd only claw back 90 points on them, Sinner would still be ahead.

Yes, FAA won against Mager, but the Bautista-Agut vs Duckworth was a disaster prediction of mine. Probably Agut just woke up in the wrong side of the bed because he was forced into a 3 set, lost the first one, barely recover on the second set, and then lost in the 3rd set tie-break.

FAA vs Koepler, possible for a 3 set extension match and could cover the Over in totals.

FAA vs Koepler, possible for a 3 set extension match and could cover the Over in totals.

FAA is already down 1 set and struggling to keep up with his serve. 2nd set is now 4-1 in favour of Koepfer, and if everything went routinely, (holding serve), Koepfer might win in 2 sets easy.

Sad to see Tiafoe lost early here, just last week he was playing superbly and went to the finals, now he is out.

I bet on Rublev on the handicap -2.5 @1.88 boosted against Fritz.

I am feeling he is enjoying this game and having good fun because his results are not good enough for staying in this game, but he loves to play tennis age factor is also not going against him because he is just 34 he can play some more years, but he needs to do some better which is very hard for him because now it's not in his hands.

If I am in his place then surely I prefer to be as coach or having some good academy because these both can give some better results which he is obtaining right now from his game.

In the last few matches he is having very few wins and these are against very low quality players with some better technique and quality players bringing him down very badly and quickly.

^ I think a comparatively long break from the game and the surgery was very hectic for him. Getting surgery at this age, and playing at the same pace after that is very hard. It's like he's mentally wanting to play good but his body isn't coping up with that. I hardly think that he will win any more trophies rather I feel that we have seen the best of him way back in the past and I don't know if he wants to continue playing just for fun, that's okay, but he can't continue for winning again in my opinion.

A few upsets in Paris today, none of which were bets I had on.

Sinner - out
Rublev - out
Swartzman - out
Felix AA - out
Tsitsipas - out (retirement)

Interestingly for points Hurkacz and Norrie are through to the next round.
Norrie in particular needs to progress through as far as he can to get as many
points as he can, now with sinner out can he  get enough points?

Sinner got knocked out by Alcaraz who is playing really amazing tennis and we should expect that kind of player next year to be in the top 10 for sure and maybe winning some big tournaments. Currently all eyes are on Djokovic,Medvedev,Zverev and Norrie . This 4 are for me are the favorites to win the tournament and go far in it

And a couple of losses too for us tennis bettors, only Hurkacz was able to win for me, but my parlay got destroyed with those seeded players being ousted.

Not sure though if Norrie will have enough points, but Hurkacz also needed to win this tournament or at least go further as he can because he needed to stay in the top 10.

More likely he need to win the title paris master to qualify for atp nitto final, and I little doubt he can.

Don't give much attention to this tournament but today I really want to make a bet in 3 match that I see will tight

Not sure though if Norrie will have enough points, but Hurkacz also needed to win this tournament or at least go further as he can because he needed to stay in the top 10.

The problem for Norrie is that he's due to meet Djokovic in the quarters. Whereas for Hurkacz, with Tsitsipas out of the tournament, he has an easy route through to the semis.
I think Hurkacz has to be a strong favourite to finish the race with more points than Norrie.

I tail you in the Dimitrov vs Zverev over at 1.76 currently. I think with the way he comes back from a set down against Khachanov shows that he will give Zverev a good fight tonight and it's possible that the game will go on 3 setter.

Actually all the predictions can be spot on, those players left are really not going to give us easy points and so a 3rd set is needed to settle the score.

Good call on the Hurkacz vs Koepfer it's over now, the match has been extend to a final set. Very excited game, 6-4, 5-7. I think even if the match didn't go down to a 3rd own and Koepfer won a tie break, the totals will be over, (initial line is 21.5).

But I can't tell who are going to win the match though, both are really playing very well. Gonna be a tie break in the 3rd to settle.

D. Koefer vs Hurkacz in over (more likely if Koefer play well like he beat FAA)
C. Norrie vs T. Fritz in over

It was Hurkacz who won the 3rd set, 6-2. I guess Koepfer was tired in the 1st set and wasn't able to bounce back.

Norrie and Fritz now, they haven't scored the first point of the match yet, back and forth between the two. Another match that can really go in the 3rd set as well just like the Hurkacz vs Koepfer.

I wanted to see Djokovic vs Monfils, two legendary players, I think Monfils are going to push Djokovic here.
