It's real money but I think it's "weird" to think about that you can download a wallet (or make one online) find a faucet and thats it. Now you have 'real money'.
That is why bitcoin is so unique. There is no bank. You can have your own bank or wallet in your pc. That is why the government is really trying hard to stop us. We are not connected with them. There is no income for them.

I will consider Bitcoin real money if I am able to use it worldwide. At this point this is not the case. I see it as an alternative currency. That's basically what it is right now.

no, not really 'real money' for me.. maybe because of i can't use it directly in offline shop at my city now (can't found 'bitcoin accepted here' in my city until now) so it's still a digital currency to long term investment for me to use it in real life as cash, i need to sell it to exchanger first

for me it is an alternate money because right now bitcoin is considered as a currency world wide, in our country bit coin is not yet well known so you only have a very limited option on where you can use it.

At first I definitely did not consider it to be real money. It took me a while before I comprehended the dollar amount of a few hundred thousand, or million satoshis. Especially when gambling. Didn't realize the true total of losses until my bank statement arrived. Ha

I think because we can't physically "see" the BTC, it's easier to dismiss it, or not acknowledge it as "real money". However, it does obviously have value, and I think this perspective can be quite deleterious in terms of gambling... from my experience, it seems that people are more flippant with their BTC.

From the moment you can live on Bitcoin by buying goods and services with it (which you can do) then the question is not at all if Bitcoin is or not real money, but: why do you still don't get the FACT that it is money?

This is completely right. I agree peolple want to see something physically. They dont believe in what they dont see. That is why there is that one quote that says " To see is to believe" That quote should be erased from history.

Well for me yes and no. Before few years for me it was just a digital currency but now it grew so fast and still it is one of most popular currency here. And why no? No one accepting BTC as payment method in my country.

bitcoin is on its way on becoming a real money but right it is still a sub money, i mean bitcoin is not yet considered as a currency in some countries which make it an illigal money, sure you can convert it into fiat but using it directly in every store is not yet possible.

Some people say in this thread, "as long as it has value it is real money to me". I beg to differ.
Bitcoin is innovative technology. Currently in this time, its used as currency, but Bitcoin is a lot more than a currency.. (though I do love it being used a currency).
