And for the return, for let's say the virus is now controlled after 2-3 months (damn, I hope so), they can use another 2-3 months for a complete assurance that everything is now controlled. From there, they can now push their plan of having games without fans and have a PPV instead.

I am hoping they will not put an expensive price for PPV.
If they need profits they might want to get it from advertisements instead. I would not mind having 20 seconds of commercial break.
We all want the entertainment back of course but for the right price.

Actually, I'm also in the position that NBA should be canceled but I don't want to think that way since claiming NBA is done for good also means that the world will be owned by the virus for long. The USA and other big countries are surely working hard to control the pandemic virus. Hoping for positive news in the upcoming months. Cross-fingers.

There are even no talks/updates of the league resuming this year so I wouldn't say that there is a possibility of that happening right now considering the pandemic situation in the USA. There are also news that the NBA team owners will be planning to cut salaries of their players and staff because of the league being suspended so right now is a good time to say that the NBA season is over until we see some improvements in the situation of US. Aside from that even if the league resumes I see that the NBA will go straight right up to playoffs just to make it fair for the teams who are seeded right now and not just crown the one who has the best standing just when the season has ended.

Because actually executives doesn't know on when they can resume since the pandemic is still uncontrollable by the government and if their health care official cannot flatten the curve yet might they might forfeit this season and cutting of salaries will be happen. They don't have much of a choice here.
If they go against what the government is trying to save then it might become just worse with what they want.

I know entertaining people is a good thing but this is a different case.
We are at war with something we cannot even see. It just goes to your body and can put you down without ever breathing again.

 Now if all of those players are back to being healthy and everyone recovered, that kind of would show the world that you can get the virus and get better and it is beatable and what you can achieve. Even if they somehow manage to close down a Las Vegas strip, put all players in hotels, make the games work, get absolutely zero corona virus spread, lets assume everyone ends up healthy without getting in, even with that best scenario you are being a bad example at worst, a lot of young kids love watching NBA and when they do something like that you are telling those kids its fine to go out and play ball, risking other peoples lives. That is why they should simply cancel and move on, there will be hundreds of NBA seasons in the future, and 50+ seasons before this, one of them ending up short wouldn't real matter in the grand scheme of things.

There are many people who have recovered from the virus itself and we already know that those that are severely affected are people that are old specially with health complications like diabetes and hearth disease, those are the high risk. So obviously, if you are a basketball player chances are, you are not old and doesn't have the that risk factors. So I don't know how a NBA player dunking after they have recovered will make a difference. We have so much to be learn from this virus, one thing is clear though: Age is a risk factor here. And people might response differently, one might be severely affected, while others are asymptomatic.

Right, that's the sad reality.

As for the vaccine, I'm not expecting it will be made right away but I hope for a good. Once it made, except that only a limited production will be made and the cost of it is also a concern. We are still dealing with the previous viruses without a vaccine.

That's why as part of precaution just in case, let's say the world now finally controls the situation 3-4 months later, the NBA can use another couple or more months for extra works to make sure everything is ok for the current NBA season to resume. Not rushing for the return. It means the game will continue but the plan for no audience will still push. The season will continue even it will take place next year. No need to reset. They will just sacrifice the 2021 NBA season or whenever they will return but damn, thinking it will happen means we still need to deal with the current situation for a long period.
