Madelyn Burke: The Mamba Sports Academy is "Mamba" no more. The organization announced Tuesday it was retiring Mamba from the name and will be known as Sports Academy going forward. I'm joined now by SI NBA writer Rohan Nadkarni. Rohan, Sports Academy says the move is meant to be made with respect to the Mamba name. What do you make of this announcement?

I think the last two would probably be the first championship of last threepeat off-season and second championship and the last years last games basically. That is all there is left with the pattern they are going.

Since the main focus was to discuss the road to 1997-98 season, yes I think that the last 2 episodes will now focus on their journey to a championship after the 1995 playoffs loss. The second three-peat and the final years of Jordan's prime.

I hope there will be a side part of Karl Malone and the whole Utah Jazz. That would be great. Utah Jazz dominate the Western Conference from 1996 to 1998 and gives Chicago Bulls a hard time in their finals meetup.

Yes, is there anything else to surprise us?
They went too deep in giving all the information, even the behind the scenes.

If that will not be the end of this episode then what else could it be?
Anyone have some theories? Whoever compiled it did a good job. It might have took a lot of time.

It is not about the name. It is about their motto which is going forward which Mamba also says a lot and believes in.
He will be remembered for that. The strength to keep on going even at the hardest time of his career.

Well, that's true, it's their decision but as long as the mission did not change, this academy is still good.
I was just surprise because some establishment would even name it to a popular person so they will be able to attract players, but this one did really change.

I knew that there was some tension between Jordan, Pippen and Krause, but I had no idea  it was that complicated. Back then we didn't get many news from NBA here in Europe, all we had were newspapers and that NBA Inside Stuff show. When you think that Bulls could have won few more titles, if there was more consideration. Like when Kobe and Shaq split, if they stayed  together they could have won few more titles together.

What good timing too, people are in lock down and like waiting for an episode of GOT. 

I just hope that last 2 episodes of The Last Dance won't be as bad as last season of GOT .

The other reason, is I hate buffering. I might break my television when I throw the TV remote. 

Dunno, but in general Netflix is not that demanding when it comes to bandwidth so if you have at least 10 mb DL, you shouldn't have issues.  Well, unless you are streaming 4k HDR stuff. Only issue is if The Last Dance is not available in your country, but even that can be sorted with good VPN.

I guess they do also talk about all other stuff as well, they will probably talk about the second three peat in general, they talked about the last season already so far into playoffs, so they will talk about the first two championships of that three peat and already talked about the first one. However remember they talk about everything between as well, like all the personality changes, all the gambling, all the death, all the weird hair styles of rodman etc etc.

So, I am pretty sure there will be some stuff in between as well, it won't be like "hey this is what they did that year, bye", it will be like how they did it, what happened while they did it, and what happened afterwards and all of that so I think there will be some personal stories that are touching once again.

The series will end to Jordan's incapability to build a strong team to his own Charlotte Bobcats for several seasons lol. Just kidding.

But yeah, aside from Utah Jazz thing, retirement after the 1998 finals, becoming a team staff, and the return as a player after several seasons but in another uniform, I don't have anything left to think what could be the other scoops we can get.

Only thing is that VPN usually slows down your internet connection depending on which country you're located and the server as well.
I'm not a fan of using Netflix since I don't have enough time to watch movies during the night time, I might fell asleep not half the movie has finished yet. Hence, I can use free streaming websites that also offers Netflix series and movies. Including the MJ documentary "The Last Dance".

I agree with you bro, I always see Kobe's family present in the court every time he has a big game, and their daughter was influence by Kobe to love basketball but the wife I guess is not an athlete, she was a model so she has no natural love on the sport like Kobe.

No, I think it is my android black box which is having problems.
It ain't the new stuff out there that can use 4k.
Also, I think it has issues with its WIFI connection. It's slow but when I use my smartphone I can read a stable connection.

There is no time frame into when they could resume the league so there must be something there.
Like in case they go back July, how can they squeeze the remaining games in it?

I wonder what would have happened if what happened between Jordan/Pippen and Krause in this period. Think about like maybe Bob Myers (gm of warriors) coming off from 2 straight rings in 2017 and 2018 and on the third year he says that Steve Kerr will be fired no matter what happens in the end of the season even if Curry leaves because of it. Think about what would be the social media response, think about all reddit topics, think about what media would do, basically everything would have been different, back in those days there was media and it made it to news but it couldn't be nowhere near like today, right now basically everything is online and everyone has an account to talk about these together. Its really something major that just happened and wasn't as big part of the NBA history when Jordan is talked about, maybe from now on it might be.

 They could potentially act as if a positive test result is like an injury and just send that player home to recover until he is better, while also testing all players constantly. Testing could lead a result in just few hours nowadays, it really improved very quickly (one of the reasons why I think vaccine will be ready quicker than all estimates) and that means you could literally test everyone at morning, get a result by noon, make them train, and on game days, do the testing even twice, one at morning, on at late afternoon right before kick-off should get the second results.

 That way you would basically not have any players either be positive, or even if there is a positive one they wouldn't be able to sit together or play together when they have the illness since they will have to wait for the results until they can play, if the result comes back negative they can go out and play, that way they will be capable of making sure nobody is sick.

If the league cancels the remainder of the regular season and jumps right into the playoffs, players likely will see the 25% paycheck reduction increase as high as 40%. If the league cancels the entire season, including the postseason, players are projected to lose more than $1 billion in total salary.

... it looks like the possibility of pushing through the playoffs without playing the remaining game this season is possible as they already fixed the terms for the pay cut just in case. I don't know how teams at the bottom will react to this if ever that plan of heading straight to Playoffs will be push.

It's really hard to decide when there is no timeline or at least good progress about the status of the pandemic virus.

This will hurt those players who are not being paid in 7 figures. They might have used up their salary and savings by now.
