I would say do not bet on Mavericks just yet. Sure they might become a team that will challenge for a title in few seasons but not right now, not this soon.

I expect to see a lot more players drop out for a variety of reasons, those coming off serious injuries, players in contract years, or players preoccupied with the social injustice talk. Not to mention that teams have to start testing their players, if it's anything like the NFL or College Football there will be lots of positive tests.

I'm biased. My friends know that I'm a Dallas Maverick for a long-time so whatever the odds I'm placing a bet with them. Honestly, even at low odds playing around @0.3 to 0.4 I still picking them risking a decent amount to somehow feel the profit in return. I shared some of my bets here if I'm not mistaken. Of course, I'm doing it alongside my own analysis and not just simply placing a bet. During their championship season, they have a good record but they aren't even on the list of expected teams to become a champion that season. Not saying it will happen again but I'm just a biased lol.

But for the majority sports analyst, obviously, Mavericks isn't on their list to becomes a champion. I'm also with them but still, I will consider placing for the Mavericks Futures. So yeah, decision making will be based on your own view.

I am betting for 2 Western teams. 
Denver and Dallas.

Stats of Doncic could have soared but yeah it doesn't mean they will win the Finals.
But who knows? If suddenly Lakers and Clippers will have a consecutive bad night and Dallas and Denver will have good ones then it can be a win.

While I agree that Miami was a favorite to win and Dallas winning was a surprise, it was still a pretty good team, that finished 3rd in the west with 57-25, while Miami finished 2nd at the East with 58-24. So not a huge difference like it would be in this playoff, if Dallas meets Lakers/Clippers. Also, Nowitzki had a lot of experience, including playing in finals, when they lost against Miami back in 2006.
I could see Denver reaching Western finals, but both those teams? Hardly. Thought there is always a chance of course, especially now with Covid-19 virus around, so you never know how each team roster will look like. Imagine Kawhi or LJ getting virus? That would be the end  for their teams basically, so if there is a year when anything is possible, this could be 2020.

I fully agree with that. If fans of Dallas/Nuggets don't believe their teams can reach the final,then what's the point? You gotta believe in your team and hope for the best, that's part of being a fan.
