But my concern is, will NBA still push for the resume if more players are tested positive (from those participating teams). I mean, obviously, teams can play without these infected players (considered as injury) however it will bring an impact on the overall team performance especially if the player/s involved is a star or good role player.
That's what I have mentioned from my last post, the resume of the season might become less interesting to watch due to players who opted out not to play, plus these players who came out positive. Though these players could still recover since we have like more than a month left before the resume. If the NBA could isolate all the participating individuals inside the facility where they planned to resume the season (In Orlando I guess? Disney world?) as early as the first week of July, then they could successfully bring 80-90% of players to play for the season resume. Nevertheless, the NBA resume remains uncertain with the rising number of covid positive players. Things doesn't seem to go their way so far.

I hope they will keep this transparent even with the stars. Don't hide it.
Agree. Until today, those 2 Lakers players that got positive after the whole team's testing way back March are still unnamed. Which is a big problem. If one of those players went to a populated place or infected even just 1 person. How would that person know he or she is already infected too. Put in the news. It doesn't matter. Pride is not something to keep now. We must all help each other. There is no shame in that, it's a good thing to trace it easily. The last active player drafted from the '90s announced resignation to the league. Vince Carter Announces His RetirementVince Carter, one of my early favorite players in the league and the reason why I always pick the number 15 jersey in some basketball league I've participated in the past. His retirement is expected this season. Lucky to have a chance to see him in person way back when he visits our country, fortunately, one of their events held on my Alma Mater. He is receiving a standing ovation for 2 seasons if I'm not mistaken as teams thought that will be his last season, so at least he experienced it lol. If Curry revolutionizes 3 points shooting, this man did his way in dunking. It was so fun watching him fly. There was also a time I want to fly like Vince but it's not that easy. Goodbye Vince, you can now take off the springs in your shoes.

I remember his first seasons in the NBA when, together with his cousin Tracy McGrady, they led the Raptors to the playoffs for the first time. They did not achieve great success, but this young team was great to watch. It is a pity that VC does not have a championship title in his collection, but unlike many veterans, in recent years of his career he chose weaker teams like Grizzlies, Kings or Hawks, where he could count on more minutes on the floor and to help young players. Respect for him for this choice.

Vince retires with a successful 22-year career. A superstar who ranked the 10 best dunks in his career. The pandemic accelerated his retirement and I think he made a very wise decision. There is too much uncertainty in the NBA. The virus is present anywhere, affecting people very close to them.

Vince Carter is famous for the 'Dunk of Death. ' Now he's made NBA history by playing in four different decades. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/05/us/vince-carter-4-decades-in-nba-trnd/index.htmlHe'll totally be missed but his legacy will forever remain on the court history of basketball. Imagine he played for 4 different decades that's already a record-breaking and one of the oldest players to play in his NBA career, Olympic medals, and much more though he haven't got a ring. What's your hunch guys, will he be a coach for NBA or some minor leagues? I think it has a possibility, who knows he might get a ring if he does.

Does he have an interest in coaching, I think we should know that first. I would agree 100% that he has achieved a lot in the NBA but he failed to get at least 1 championship which is the ultimate success for a player and a team. Anyway, gotta respect the guy, at his age he still managed to compete with the young players and I think he can still play but he choose to retire at this stage. Good luck to him in his journey outside the NBA.

The sad part for a great basketball player. Yeah, coaching might be his chance. If he does love basketball which there is no doubt then he might really do it. Let's wait for that, a high chance that it may happen. Another one out. This time, from the Mavericks roster. https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1276205601509474304?s=20Mavericks center Willie Cauley-Stein has decided to sit out the resumed NBA season, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium . Cauley-Stein and his partner are expecting a newborn child in July.

I was curious to find if he really wants into coaching but sadly man that wasn't on his mind as I've read one article explaining such once he retires from his career instead he wants to be a broadcaster. Coaching may not be the path Carter decides to take, but he still has every intention to stay in the realm of basketball. The eight-time All-Star appears to have placed himself in a good position to take on a career as a broadcaster once it is all said and done. https://clutchpoints.com/hawks-news-vince-carter-explains-why-coaching-is-unlikely-a-part-of-his-future-plans

Big loss for the Mavericks, Cauley-Stein was one of my favorite players in Sacramento kings before, though he does not have a solid contribution on his current team but he will be very useful in the playoffs knowing they are an underdog team. No negative news for good teams yet like the LA teams and the Bucks, I guess their chances in winning has increased more.

I think he will just miss the 8 game round before the playoffs. We don't have any news yet if the NBA will let those who didn't participate in that 8 games tournament play in playoffs. I doubt they will not. Different reasons we are seeing right now. Some have grandparents to take care of, pregnant and some are participating in the Black Lives Matter movement. Will the NBA really look the same with so much player absence?

Broadcaster is still a fun thing to do and I am sure he would be fine with it.
There has been so many people who have said that they have no intention of coaching at all and still came back because they keep those close friendships with players and the staff and front office so when they get a call to come to a practice and chat with the kids to rise the morale a bit after a loss they actually do it, then another one and another one and what do you know they are now in the staff.
That is exactly what happened to Tim Duncan actually, dude wanted to just live a relax life and have fun and Pop probably kept asking him to come to practice anyway and eventually that lead to him being an assistant coach right now.
I am not saying it will be like that for Vince neither, I am just saying not wanting to be a coach right now doesn't mean he won't want it in the future as well.

Hm, in that twit it was said that he will sit out resumed season, I think that means those 8 games and playoff as well. Otherwise I guess they would mention that he is missing only regular season and will be available for playoff. In normal circumstances I wouldn't say that is a huge loss for Mavricks, but with this disease going on, you really need all players that you have, as you never know how will be unable to play. We don't have any news yet if the NBA will let those who didn't participate in that 8 games tournament play in playoffs. I doubt they will not.
Yeah, that wouldn't make much sense, as player could be out for variety of reasons like injuries, being positive on covid-19 etc. After all, with all those cancellations and positive players, they need all they can get at the moment. As long as players are negative on virus of course. Dunno, I thought I will be as happier as we are getting closer to July 30th, but I am getting more worried, as situation ain't looking good at the moment.

I can still remember that during those days in our old neighborhood when most of the older kids used to call themselves "Carter" whenever we play basketball and as well as the other legends surnames too. Oh c'mon, the old days. IIRC, Vince was also able to join those slam dunk contests after his prime.

Well Vince wouldn't have played on this pandemic part of the season on 30th july so it would make sense to declare it today. Its really weird because he was older than his teammates father. Its not a joke, go look it up, Vince Carter is actually older than Trea Young's father. Vince Carter was born in 26th January 1977 and Trae's father Rayford Young was born in 5th of November 1977, so its almost a year long (9-10 month) difference as well.
Its a marvel how long he was capable of playing but we have to be honest with each other, he came into the league in 90's and was an amazing player and a high flyer and made a big difference, when he moved to New Jersey to form that superb trio with him and Kidd and R.J he was doing even better, they were a real threat as well. When he moved on he became less and less and less important.
In 2018-2019 season he was just a few minute veteran presence and this year it was just a full on farewell tour. Would I still sign him for the veteran minimum to my team just because of his presence? I totally would but with that logic he could have continued to play 5 more seasons, anyone doubts he wouldn't be able to run up and down 5 more years?
So at what point do you stop playing, when you can't run anymore or when you feel like its enough? I am pretty sure many players could have went 5 more seasons being faaaar away from their true peak and quite bad and old if they wanted to but they retired before that happens, not VC so I assume in the future he paved the way for a lot more people will continue to play until they no longer can't instead of won't.

When the date for the re-opening was released I was ecstatic. But now, there is more worry about what could happen next. What if just one player, maintenance, or camera crew slipped out with the test and infected many of them? They should be more strict with this test and assure no one will get in or out their perimeter afterward. I can't find a full transparent list of players whose positive with Covid-19 virus. They just said 16/302 players are already positive. ESPNThe player names were not disclosed; some players, such as Malcolm Brogdon of Indiana and Sacramento teammates Jabari Parker and Alex Len, have publicly acknowledged they recently tested positive.
