I saw yesterday that he doesn't want the $5.9 Million Dollar offer by the Celtics instead, he want $9.5 Million Dollar for one year What a funny decision for him. Now he is feeling it. The consequences of being greedy. From $20M per year to $5.9M for one year . With this, there might be a possibility that the Celtics might not sign him especially if he can't redeem himself. I agree with what you said though that he will not make 80 Million Dollars again unless, he will show an all-star performance with the Celtics. Just see his face in the picture . It looks like he regretted his decision . Just kidding. That picture say it all until know him and his agent are thinking what they've done wrong, a huge amount of money that being wasted. He's deserve that contract from how we seen him playing last season, maybe he can ask for more if Celtics see his value helping them to win a title, that might happened "only if", for now he should take this and enjoy his stay at Boston, try to figure out what help he can give to system and be worthy upon staying.

Dennis Schroder’s rejection of the Lakers 80 million dollar contract has to be one of the biggest blunders ever. I’m happy he did it, because it was obvious he wasn’t worth the 80 million dollars, but seeing him now try to negotiate a 5 million dollar contract which he may not even get to play on a worse team has to be humbling for him. He’ll lose 15 million dollars this year alone for gambling on himself. I guess if you’re going to bet on yourself you need a firm grasp on reality. My bet is that Schroder never again has the opportunity to make 80 million dollars.

For sure his agent should be partly blame for it. But who knows, maybe he can still blossom in the Celtics organization and become a legit superstar. Although history is not on his side, Kyrie and then Kemba Walker. And I agree that no team will offer him $80 million.

Dennis Schröder has one year to prove that he is in the level of the superstar in the NBA, so if he will have a successful next season, who knows he will get at least $100 million contact with the Celtics and he will also be happy where he belongs now.

^^ Still a loss though whatever angle you look at it, what he will be getting in Celtics is way below what the Lakers has offered to him, which he gladly turn down. Of course, he has one year to proved it in Boston, but I doubt that they are going to offer him the same as what he is looking before. Yeah, maybe $10 million based on his performance, or worst they will drop him if perform way below expectations again.

Thanks for this one. I think this odd for Bucks is somewhat fair in my opinion, there's no team change meaning that they can probably make it again plus their having a hard time too because of the swaps and trades happening, we don't know if there is a new synergy that will destroy the defending champion.

Bet $1000 on Lakers and Bucks to win the championship, you'll still make a good profit if either one of them will win the championship. Though nets are heavily favored currently, but one season is long, anything can happen, particularly injury.

That's why teams are rebuilding, because they want to challenge Bucks for the title next year. But with the Lakers line and then Nets will have the big 3 season together, it's obvious that they will become the favorites. Bucks already lost on of it's toughest defenders in PJ Tucker, but they got Greyson Allen, who I think is also a good defender, but not in the caliber of Tucker.

Dropping it won't be fair anymore. He is athletic, he can score and he can defend well. Veteran contract is 2-2.5M and he is far from old. Even if he injure himself this year, he might still get a good contract. It's the timing of trade that he should learn or his agent need to learn. This could be the reason why he only want 1 year contract. He will just use this time to make a name again. Last year was full of inconsistencies and then he goes back and forth at health and safety protocol because he was trying to avoid being vaccinated. If he will contribute to put Celtics back in 2nd round or better ECF, it will be a good pay day next year.

Maybe that's what really on Dennis mind, he is still very young and we can say that he can still improved, or be a candidate for Most Improved if he really shows what he can really do with the Celtics team. Maybe playoff appearance first and then go for the second round with a healthy Jaylen Rose. So let's see if the gamble will pay back or not for Dennis next season. For sure, many will raise their eye brows and this NBA analyst will have a field day on him. So he better proved all his detractors wrong.

It's Jaylen Brown. Just to correct it. I don't really mind what happened to Schroder. He is not yet in that position to have perks of high salaries like other great names in the league. $85m was a good offer, actually, it's too good but he tried to go way beyond it thinking there would be a better contract that will be offered from other teams. Both his agent and he made a mistake. Rewriting it won't be easy because now all eyes are on him and proving that you're worth the pay next season will need hard work and skill. What made the path more difficult is he is considered a backup for Marcus Smart.

... That picture say it all until know him and his agent are thinking what they've done wrong, a huge amount of money that being wasted. I read a post that his family and agent was urging him to take the $84 million deal offered by Lakers so that's probably all on him. He's lucky he still gets to play for 5 million after all that happened. At least he's wise enough to make it a one-year only deal but I don't know if he will have enough playing time to prove his worth for the next free agency. He'll be overshadowed by Marcus Smart.

I think they avoided a disaster at even offering $85mil. Maybe next time he will accept:)

I never really liked Dennis to begin with, not just the talent level but basically his character, ever since he was on Hawks things were really so nice for him from what I hear, his teammates rarely ever like him and he was sent from one place to another after that.
Lakers overoffered him anyway, they needed a PG and this was before Westbrook, I am sure when Dennis realized that he can't get anything better, he went back to Lakers and asked for it, even a bit less maybe, but by that time Lakers had Westbrook and that is why they declined. Hell dude couldn't find even 10 million a year, at this day and age a player like him would definitely get 10 million, even 15+ million, only if he was an easy player to work with. However everyone around the league knows that he is a hard person to handle and causes controversy and locker room trouble so his talents do not matter.

He was a pain in the ass diva while on the team who complained about his role and thought he should be handling the ball more than LeBron James. Gotta give it to him for his self confidence, but he clearly overestimated his value as he balked at an $84 million offer and I don’t think other teams will be taking a chance on him anywhere near that price again.

Yeah, it looks like it was only his greed. However, I don't exclude that Schroder doesn't want to be a bench player, and Westbrook signing could have influenced his decision. Anyway, he still might be able to prove to everyone that he deserves a big salary, although I don't expect that he will be playing like a superstar next season.

He is under a new system, so let's see if he will improve. If he plays like how he played in his last season with the Hawks where he averages 19.4 pts, he will be a big help for the Celtics, and his chance to get a good contract will be possible. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/schrode01.htmlsince he didn't get a big contract, he will surely work hard this coming season.

The Lakers might not offer that amount again, but definitely, there are other teams who will be interested depending on how he will play next season. All eyes on him as he is one of the most talked players now, after refusing a big deal, he ended up with a small contract with the Celtics. The only hindrance that he will not be sign after his 1 year contract if he will get injured, so aside from improving his game, he also need to ensure that he is fully healthy.

What an offer haha. Schroder will now be part of the history. He is asking for a Superstar level contract and Lakers give him that despite he didn't show yet his potential but he turned it down. He can form a good chemistry with Tatum and Brown but only if he will allow to be the number 3 option and not with the mindset that he's the star of that team. Schroder as PG is not effective. Tatum and Brown is a ball hog, the same as Schroder.

Schroder is effective in my opinion, but he seems to lack something that will really make him a good point guard in the league. Oh it's consistency, that's one drawback of his, at least when he was in the Lakers uniform. When he was in the OKC, he was producing good numbers close to 20 ppg and good three point and field goal percentage. But it deteriorated when he was with the Lakers. And now that he is playing as only the third option, not sure how can he be effective and show his talent in Boston.

That's true. He is expecting more money so even there's an article saying he doesn't want money, I don't believe in that. Everyone wants money in their prime. By entering free agency, he thinks there's a team that can offer that money. When he was in the OKC, he was producing good numbers close to 20 ppg and good three point and field goal percentage. But it deteriorated when he was with the Lakers.
He is the 6th Man of the Year during his OKC maybe that is the reason he thinks he is a valued player. It's right, he has a value but not $20 per year. The wise thing to do is he should accept the $80, go on a rampage, play his best, so other teams have a reason to pay him a much higher.
