As reported by The Athletic, for many insiders it's no longer a question of if Simmons will be traded but rather when. According to the same source, the Sixers have their eyes on Lillard. A dream that until some time ago could be considered impossible but that could become more defined and credible in the next months. Let's keep an eye on the Philadelphia-Portland route.
It's not a secret already that we will see Ben Simmons on a different jersey next season. It's been always the rumor even before the start of the recent season. He is no longer capable of being a pure Sixers player because of various reasons. The Sixers will do a good job if they will trade Simmons and keep Joel Embiid, their most performing player last season. Then hunt some good point guards that can replace Simmons, not by 100% but a good one to risks. Lillard already debunked that he will be traded but if my understandings are correct, he just debunked that he will transfer to the Lakers but the signing to another team is possible. That's a good trade for me if in case things work out between these two teams. If Dame landed to Philly, he will be more effective playing 1-2 punch with Embiid, that power combo will surely help them up in chasing the title, while with Simmons, he can help CJ as he can work as a two-way player, a good defender and if needed he can also drive and get some good penetrations, Both teams will maximize the value of this two stars. Now the question is "Will Portland sacrifice their franchise player to a player who don't know how to shoot. Will they trade a player that is very good at shooting to a player that can't shoot at all." If the 76ers-Blazers trade will involve Lillard and Simmons, for sure the Blazers will lose this trade. If they will trade Lillard on the 76ers, for sure the Blazers will demand for more or they might demand to get Embiid but getting Simmons only and some average players out there I don't think that it will happen. Until now, Simmons and Lillard's team are still unknown for now because of many rumors but lets see how these rumors will end a few months from now.

^ There were rumors that Ben will be traded on Sacramento, I guess that didn't materialized as well.
But if a scenario that Simmons will not get traded because the Sixers can't find a suitor for him, it might be worst for him to play again in the Sixers jersey. There is already a friction, so it will make it more worst for him and the team. But yes, doesn't make sense for Portland to trade their franchise player, one on one, they could ask for more, but are the Sixers willing to give? Only Joel will be protected, the rest can be traded with Simmons.

Who is going to score, cj? Simmons works on a team that already has a couple scorers. Only way this gets done is if Portland wants to scrap and rebuild in which case they'd probably want some #1s with the ability for them to be in the lottery which the sixers won't be.

I agree with this. Dame is still within his prime years so letting him go after what they've already built and how far they've come would all go to waste. It will take years again before they become a playoff contender if the trade pushes through.

I think it is not about Portland not wanting to give up Dame but more about Dame wanting out. He declined the rumors so I assumed it was over but if this trade happens that means the rumors were true, people were saying he didn't want to be part of the team anymore, he is an amazing player and probably a generational talent level when it comes to shooting if it wasn't for Curry at the same time. It means he is sick and tired of having horrible teams surrounding him most of the time and getting beaten by other teams during playoffs, mainly first round for the longest time. This is why he was said to be looking for a trade to a team he feels like he could win something and Sixers without Simmons but adding Dame could be decent, still not amazing but could be decent and I can see them go to finals if they are lucky enough and Dame could make that happen.

That's fine but they ain't letting him go for Simmons. They will want significant draft capital. Dame can get you a coue of front end #1s to the right team. Just because a star wants out (if that is the case) doesn't mean they are going to trade him for whatever. Simmons on the Portland team as currently constructed is terrible, no gm would do that.

Dame is their prime man, he is the Lebron James of the team, there's no way he will be traded to anyone that is not better than him. I guess the point why we are talking about Blazers here is for them to acquire new players that could add their strength to be a better team especially in the playoffs where they struggled a lot. I can't even believe they lose against the Murray-less Nuggets last playoffs.

And Portland is not in the rebuilding stage, they still got Dame and then CJ, so I agree with most of the posters here, them trading Dame for Simmons doesn't make sense at all for Portland to push through with this trade. Trailblazers should focus on getting Dame some support players and not to shop and trade him around.

Lillard has already played the 9th season for the Blazers, but they have not once reached the final series. So it's not surprising if he wants to change the team, but it's worth noting that he has a huge contract until the 24/25 season. I mean that not every team will be able to offer something to the Blazers for him.

It's just the same when James Harden wanted to be traded to another team when he hasn't shown up and go to the club instead. I think Ben Simmons will be a good addition to the team that has fewer defensive players and he can actually practice his shooting there. Honestly, everyone in the NBA has some room to improve their skills that's why they have the Most Improved Player award to motivate those who have not yet reach their maximum capability.

Isn't coach Pop getting interested with Ben Simmons trade or he was just complimenting Ben Simmons for it? Pop said he doesn't care if he can't shoot, he's already an elite player, well, that's the rumor that possibly might happen because if Sixers is just waiting for that Damian Lillard trade, they'll be waiting for ages. They should move on for that false hope.

Their basis for that rumor is what Dame said in an interview about the need for a championship-caliber team. But he didn't say he wants a trade. It's a suggestive phrase to make the Trail Blazers management move their ass and surround him with roleplayers. Good ones, better than last season. Isn't coach Pop getting interested with Ben Simmons trade or he was just complimenting Ben Simmons for it? This is interesting. SASpurs don't have any star on their roster yet except for their young core that they will try to build. Could this really be a good sign for Ben? I can't find how much cap space is left for the SAS.

I still think that Simmons should be a better shooter by now but I actually like this if it's going to happen. Coach Pop loves team plays more than individual skills/performance that's why it could be a perfect fit for both. I just don't know what Sixers want out of Spurs to agree with the trade. Like what @Reid said, it seems like SA have nothing much to offer.

I don't really agree with the forcing of a shooting capability for Ben Simmons. If he can't do it then don't, it may become just a waste of time for trainers and for him. Just like what Shaq said for Giannis. He is strong in the inside and he has the body to become the most dominant player beneath the rim which he already is. Ben Simmons could just do the same of whatever role he prefer. If he likes to be the Magic Johnson type then do so. Sharpen his assist skill and decision making while handling the ball. Jason Kidd before also had bad shooting skill and even his form doesn't look good. He didn't dominate the points sector but he is a hall of fame.

Definitely nonsense. Portland is not letting Dame go until Dame tells them he wants to go. That hasn’t happened yet. The Simmons situation is sad. He turned on his city and is now going to be hated by them. This is getting to be too common, but it is what it is. With him saying he’s not reporting to training camp, he’ll be on another team soon.
But in this era, shooters are the norm and no more of a Magic Johnson or John Stockton assists style. So he really need to learn to shot otherwise, no teams are going to get him. Not to force him, but to let him know that importance of free throws and making it as it spells the difference between winning and losing. Giannis is a bad shooter in free throws, but you can see that he is trying his best even at three points. Unlike Ben who haven't even try to shoot for three because he is afraid that he will missed it.

~ Isn't coach Pop getting interested with Ben Simmons trade or he was just complimenting Ben Simmons for it? Pop said he doesn't care if he can't shoot, he's already an elite player,
I still think that Simmons should be a better shooter by now but I actually like this if it's going to happen. Coach Pop loves team plays more than individual skills/performance that's why it could be a perfect fit for both. I just don't know what Sixers want out of Spurs to agree with the trade. Like what @Reid said, it seems like SA have nothing much to offer. Yeah, maybe coach Pop can developed Ben even more specially his shooting as we all know that Pop has the ability to motivate players and bring the best of them. But SA has nothing to offer though in the table if they decided to trade, maybe a future draft picks but as far as the current lineup, not sure if Sixers are interested on anyone one of them. So the saga of Ben still continues, no one is taking the bait so far

This is interesting. SASpurs don't have any star on their roster yet except for their young core that they will try to build. Could this really be a good sign for Ben? I can't find how much cap space is left for the SAS.
Might be good to rebuild the San Antonio rosters and the likes of Simmons might be fitting for them. I think Simmons has more reasons not to stay with all the bash he gets especially this last season and him and coach Pop somehow is exciting. (well, it's a thing worth awaiting) I still think that Simmons should be a better shooter by now but I actually like this if it's going to happen. Coach Pop loves team plays more than individual skills/performance that's why it could be a perfect fit for both. I just don't know what Sixers want out of Spurs to agree with the trade. Well, he wants out as far as that rumor and that's something imminent for Sixers for now. Who knows? Maybe Sixers go buy it. Yeah, maybe coach Pop can developed Ben even more specially his shooting as we all know that Pop has the ability to motivate players and bring the best of them.
We've just seen him getting that win for the team USA and Pop still has grooves to win a thing or as you say develop a player, maybe it's worth a shot for Ben this time.

Yes, it's official now: Ben Simmons has asked for a trade to the Philadelphia 76ers, and he'll be wearing a different jersey next season! According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Australian player had a conversation with Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey: Simmons told his head coach and the president that he wants to be traded and that he'll no longer play with the Sixers. He also made it known that he will not be part of training camp. Let the deals flow.
