Last season, Spurs listed Wembanyama as 2.21 meters tall, but this year he's listed as 2.24 meters tall. I saw this information online.
Could this be true?
Is it biologically possible for someone this age to grow taller?
Or was the measurement taken incorrectly last year?
Two things about this, first of all yeah that could happen, either is possible. He could have grown just three centimetres longer, that's not really that much when you are that height, yes when you are at my height that would be a lot lol, but that's a tiny amount compared to his height, so that is possible, but this year it could be just fixing a wrong measurement as well, or maybe combination of both.

However, the other thing to talk about is that this dude had what made Chris Bosh retire, so I am not sure if his height even matters anymore, he could be six foot tall and with his medial issue, it is not going to matter. If he keeps having the same issue then we are going to lose a generational talent and that is going to be sad.
Could this be the season for the spurs? spurs are slowly building a team, when you check their lineup with Wembi, they are the like a sleeping giant, if wembi will not encounter any issue, he could be unstoppable, they can be also in the playoffs and could matchup with OKC,  although he is still young he's experience playing, is notable with other players experience in the playoff, will fuel the team, that are compose rookies and experience player, they have the recipe to stop other teams i think.

Anthony Davis packed on an extra 15 pounds this offseason to become the heaviest player in the NBA now. He looked pretty big on the court before, so I’m sure he will be a powerhouse out there now. Not quite Shaquille O’Neal territory but in today’s NBA I think he will stand out as significantly bigger than everyone else.

Will this be better for him who has a problem with the Knee injury?
I mean, that will give more weight on his knee right? I do really hope, I want to see the healthy AD who can complete the season and play-offs.
AD of the Pelicans who can dominate the game, The 3 first pick is really something to watch.
I hope Dallas will recover from Luka madness!

Hmm, I wonder how Nico Harrison will think about that.  Roll Eyes Didn't he trade Luka because he was not taking care of his body and always showed up "too fat" after the summer, hahaha. Maybe Nico is already cooking up something and wants to trade AD to let's say Philadelphia or the Clippers. There is always room for a washed up Paul George or Kawhi.  Grin

I just noticed the thread title update. Let’s go! 2026 season is right around the corner. LeBron is resting already.

3 more weeks and then we can see the Los Angeles Lakers face off against the Golden State Warriors. I can’t wait. Horford and Ayton will be a good matchup and we’ll get to see Skinny Luka.

Yeah. I just noticed it too. Nice. Good thing OP is still active and well. Thank you, OP.

3 weeks. That will be fast. I cannot wait for the 2026 Tip-Off. There aren't any changes in the rule book. So I am guessing they are satisfied with what happened last year.

The last change was the "Heave Rule". It's not actually a game-changing rule. It's an individual stat change. It's when the official time is expiring, the player who heaves the ball from the halfcourt will not have a missed shot in his stats. It will be a team stat, missed or shot.
We all know that players who want to keep their stats up, especially in shooting percentage, will not do it. But with that rule, they can go wild and throw it for a miracle. Cheesy

I think that was his excuse but when it came down to it, it was a business decision. They didn’t want to give Luka the supermax contract he earned and instead chose to deal him to a team that will have the money to pay him in the future. Luka using that to fuel a massive body change is probably great for his career.

For those who want to see how a +15 lbs look to AD,

https://x.com/dallasmavs/status/1973185881466085422

But I would agree with the comparison on Shaq, that is the version of Shaq in the Orlando Magic uniform. But he could not be a powerful as the Shaq in the Lakers. It was a different specimen back then, as no one can stop Shaq because he was complete, with speed and the power that no one can take him one on one. As for Davis, this added muscle might help him to at least stay strong and not be as fragile as before.

I think so as well. If not for his max contract, they wouldn’t trade him. Also, since they know they’re getting Cooper Flagg, they might as well trade him. They saved and made their lineup stronger. AD has defense and can contribute offensively as well. Hopefully, he stays healthy. Actually, I didn’t get it either when they traded Luka, but looking back, smart move. Luka is an example that players should also treat the organization as a business, because at the end of the day, it is business for them.

Maybe, we really don't know what Nico Harrison was thinking when he traded Luka. Maybe he had a lot leverage now having AD and there could be teams that is willing to go after him as AD is still one of the best PF and defensive players around.

At least he stil has some aces down his sleeves even though he doesn't have Luka anymore. And now that he have Cooper Flag, they could developed him to be the next franchise player and he could be a generational talent.

Well, 15 pounds isn't that much weight to negatively affect the knees, especially if it's just muscle mass. In AD's case, it might even be beneficial, as the extra muscle will stabilize the joints and improve load distribution. Therefore, AD could potentially become less injury-prone.

Base on the article I read those additional pounds he gain is large lean muscle and not fats. This is good for his durability and provably that he can absorb more contact due to those developments happening in his body.

Here read this guys https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/dallas-mavericks/news/anthony-davis-weight-gain-concern-mavericks-not-really/7e76c6080505a75af5d74e9d

Davis might perform more better next season. So let see if Davis would really be more healthier and could last for many games this season.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthony Davis ends up with another season ending injury this year because of that situation. Mavericks key or allstar players are all injury prone like Klay Thompson, Kyrie and even Dereck Lively who also dealt with injuries last season. If all of them happen to have injury at the same time, will Cooper Flagg really be able to carry this team? lol

Well hopefully Cooper Flagg won't be the next Andrea Bargnani ...

It could, regular system is 82 games and there are days that you have to play back to back games. So in the long run, that added weight might be a big issue for him as he is not used to having that kind of weight to carry.

So still 50/50 for me, we don't know if that will be good for him in the long run as he is injury prone already. Maybe the banging that he will get, but just imagine on how his injury was before, from jumping and landing awkwardly. So with that weight, maybe just one bad landing will twist his knees or ankle for a season injury.

Not surprising to see that since each year we saw him falling down and became not eligible to play for the rest of season.

Davis is so fragile and it seems that its hard for them to recover. But still its good that he do something to improve his situation, maybe he want to prove his self that he's still reliable player which his team can rely on. To much hype for Copper Flagg and many of his fans want him to perform good in NBA, so let see if he can meet those expectations. Since if it happens that he's struggle on tight competition on NBA then maybe he became another draft bust on NBA.

Anthony Davis gaining  extra 15 pounds is huge news for Lakers this season because in today fast NBA that weight makes him stand out as one of strongest players. This added size will let him dominate under basket against smaller players and it may also help him handle rough play of long season possibly making him more durable. Main question is if he can stay quick while being heavier. If he does he will be unstoppable offensive force who will likely see big jump in his scoring and rebounding numbers.

I’m not sure if that’s a good decision, since the trend I see is players trying to lose weight, heavier players are more prone to injury. especially Davis, he’s already known as injury-prone.

But let’s see if their experiment works. maybe it makes him a little slower, but if he can dominate inside then that’s a big change. I still don’t expect much from him, but at least they’re trying something different, so it’s fine. Maybe it’s also because they got the number 1, so Davis will have to play more at center. he’s a good scorer too, unlike other centers who are mostly defensive.

You’re outdated on NBA for thinking that Anthony Davis is still on Lakers.  Smiley

He is currently on Mavs that is injured on his first game for the Mavs. I dunno but that extra weight seems a bad news to me considering that he is injury prone even with his lighter weight version.

Adding extra weight means more stress on his body. He can’t play like a physical big man anymore due to his lots of injuries the reoccurring whenever he play hard.

assuming that the Warriors' management will need to trade Butler in order to get LeBron James, then it makes sense. At least if you look at last season's statistics, you can notice that the 40-year-old LeBron performed significantly better than Butler.
Considering everyone else has their roles not collide with Lebron, if that were to ever happen (I still think it won't) then it is going to be fine.

Lebron would be the ball handler, Green would be defensive leader, and Curry would be shooter that runs around and get open for Lebron to find.

So when you think of everyone who would play together, it would not be all that great and we should be thinking about how that would actually fit each other great and suddenly would make them an instant championship calibre team, plus they got Horford as well, so the team would basically be done and be perfect. It's just that, why would Lakers accept getting Butler for Lebron? That is a terrible thing and won't help anyone.

This is a good analysis if age will not factor in. Considering that Bron is already aging which surely slow him down already after a couple of years acquiring him will be a bad idea especially if the team intention is to still use him as center of the rotation of the team.

Bron surely better than Butler on previous year stats but considering the future results Butler will be much better than Bron.

Butler is still the best in the long run especially if he get along with his teammates.

If LeBron goes to GSW curry will be a spot up shooter, having open shot since LeBron will draw the defense, seems okay right but curry will not be a threat anymore and it will slow the team since LeBron need to setup a play for everyone since he will be the ball dominant and curry will need to be always open, things will be readable in offense, that will happen, i guess they should not get LeBron or try to, but i could be wrong since they play as team in the US team, that will be an entertaining to watch but we are not sure if they will make it to the finals.
