$229,000,000 4-year deal agreed to by De’Aaron Fox with the San Antonio Spurs. Another crazy deal to a player who has never won anything. He’s a great player, but I don’t even think he’s an all star. Making over $50,000,000 per year as an NBA player when most people in the country have no idea who you are is crazy…

The NBA is nothing but nonsense at this point. I don’t think money holds any real value anymore.
This player is going to earn $50 million a year, and for what? In my opinion, nothing. He’s just doing his job, showing up to play games, and that’s it. He doesn’t bring anything special to the team.
Life isn’t fair, some people are just incredibly lucky, like NBA players.

To be fair, Fox is good and explosive during his time on Kings before they focus their offense to Sabonis and add DeRozan to their roster. He is good mid range shooter and has the ability to drive same with SGA.

But I do understand the complaint on the salary since it’s already worth for a super star caliber like prime Curry that literally carry a team.

Spurs probably so a potential to Wemby - Fox combo but honestly it’s truly a big money for Fox current performance.

I'm thinking why. I guess it's the fact that the Spurs are in need of a reliable shooting guard, and he's the best one that they have so they don't want him to let go.

Castle at the 1, Fox at 2, and Wemby at the paint. Correct me on this one, but this is a dangerous "Big 3" for me. What they need right now is a right set of role players, chemistry, and a bit more of a development. I would say that the future of the Spurs are bright now, and I will not be surprised if one day, they'll be a title contender in the West just like what the Thunder did where they jumped from being a play-in team, to top seed. Let's also not forget that a player having a max deal doesn't have any Player Option on their final year, so most probably, he'll stay as a Spur until the '29-'30 season.

Congratulations to him, and for me, he deserves that one. Smiley

I tend to agree that with the likes of Caitlin, Sabrina or Angel Reese the viewership has finally increased but even that I don't think that the salary will make a difference. There clearly needs a change in the salary structure for WNBA considering that disparity over NBA athletes was probably inhumane tbh, they could have at least increase a few percentage of their salaries that would increase their morales.

Perhaps it will take time for the salary adjustment since WNBA is in loss last year so the league will need to get back first the loss and then make adjustments once the profit from viewership is consistently increasing.

WNBA viewership just increased recently so probably they are still testing the water before they make a move.

But for sure they will get salary adjustment since the league is already popular even to NBA fans.
I think from here on out the viewership is likely increasing especially with generational talents like Clark and Ionescu and other rookies like Paige Bueckers, Iriafen, Citron, etc. It's getting more interesting tbh in the WNBA right now compare to the past seasons.

They may not be as good to the NBA but from what I see is that it's getting interesting and it will be a matter of time before it picks the phase. Hope that a lot of NBA players will supports the WNBA too or promote them because as far as I can see it, that's one thing they'll be more popular to the masses.

Yeah, they'll get there for sure. No need to rush. It's just that some players expect to earn more, when in fact, they're already in a better position now compared to before.

Anyway, have you guys seen that NBA teams are bringing back their classic jerseys? Finally, I get to see the iconic Sixers jersey again. I'm a Warriors fan, but of all the jerseys, classic or new, the Sixers jersey is the one I like the most. I've been waiting for them to bring that design back, and they finally did. It's very iconic to me, maybe because I'm also an AI fan. I remember having the same jersey when I was in grade school.

He is making more than James Harden, who is above him in the best point guards.

But I think the Spurs are making a big move here. Maybe they will use their new duo as the face of their franchise. Wemby + Fox and their good role players added in the first five + their good bench players. They are ready to be back in the playoffs. They just need Wemby to be healthy again and create chemistry with the team. Most of them are veterans, so I am sure he is going to learn a lot from them.
First ones to get the contract, will end up getting a bigger one. So let's check the list, seems like nearly none of the names above him, got paid recently, and plenty of people below him too. If all those names had a contract to do this season, then Fox would have still gotten 55 a year, and yet will be outside of top 20. Meaning, give it some time and we will see how they will improve to be a lot better.

This isn't some Mozgov offer, it's normal, it's just that salaries are rising huge now, and that's why we are seeing this. Look at Doncic, dude is getting paid 83 million, nobody got paid that before, so as you can see ,we are reaching a peak where everyone will start to get paid a ton of money very soon from their contracts.

Yeah they definitely overpaid on this one. I don't understand why they would give him such a deal. Sure they don't want him to leave for nothing but I doubt other teams would have been willing to pay this much as well, very strange. While of course Fox is a more than just solid player, as you say he is not even all star material, won nothing and overall isn't even close to being a franchise player (that would warrant such a payday). NBA these days....
I disagree with your statement. Last year, Fox averaged 23.5 points. He also has a very good assist average of 6.3. He's a great contributor to his team and a true team player. I think San Antonio made the smartest decision by signing him. Fox was one of the team's most important players. It's important to remember that the number of All-Stars is very small, and not every player will make it there.

That's just numbers though, he wasn't able to carry the Spurs and then got injured if my memory serves me right. Even if he is healthy, it's very hard for him to carry the team in a very tough Western conference. So it's really a big gamble for the Spurs to paid him that well.

Although I would agree that as time passes by, due to inflation players are going to be very expensive. And as we compare, he is outside of the best point guard in the NBA right now. That's why others are thinking that he didn't deserved this huge contract.

Mr Beast has said that he wants to make a video of Michael Jordan playing 1 on 1 with LeBron James. This would probably be his greatest video ever as far as sports fans are concerned. He also said he wants to put a handicap on LeBron because of age… It’ll never happen, but would be an awesome video.

I would have said money and promotion could be the motivation to this happening just like the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight (although that was completely an eyesore), but I'm not sure the amount of money that would be enough to lure both players out for it, Lebron have the biggest advantage with age, while Michael Jordan ego would also be on the line, he wouldn't feel like he needs to prove any point, because it's only got to further stir a lot of other debates, what ifs, and nonsensical theories.

Wow, let Jimmy make it happen. I wonder how much he's going to spend to make this video. And if both will agree, there's for sure the talent fee that he has to pay. But knowing that it's Jimmy, maybe it will be done for charity or whatnot. I've missed this statement of his but if he has said that, we the basketball fans are going to wait for this historical moment. That both of the GOATs will have to meet and play one on one. But I am not expecting a lot with the game, just doing the collaboration is already a success if it happens.

Really? It sounds really interesting. This guy has made really great videos with some renowned people so far. Players from NBA have also been included in it.

I'm looking forward to watching a game between the 2 legends. Maybe it would be a casual one but I'm not complaining even a bit. Tongue

In the end Michael Jordan is 62 while Lebron is 40 and still playing actively.

Malik Beasley just got evicted from his apartment after being sued twice for failing to pay rent. He made 60 million dollars playing in the NBA. Now he’s being investigated by the FBI for sports betting and is homeless. It’s shocking to me that someone could make 8 figures and still not own a house and have enough invested to set them up for life. These players need a finance guru.

Anyway, have you guys seen that NBA teams are bringing back their classic jerseys? Finally, I get to see the iconic Sixers jersey again. I'm a Warriors fan, but of all the jerseys, classic or new, the Sixers jersey is the one I like the most.
Saw it and probably it will be a thing now to other teams to bring those classic jerseys.

Damn. Pay rent? Malik needs to check on himself he could have a better house even at half a million if he needs to but probably not having the right mind pays it. I think the sports betting investigation is definitely a true to this matter.

He did it to himself he is already earning enough money, he just need to improve more so that he can have higher offer for the following season, i mean you just need to play what a simple job, other players are dying to have a spot and you just waste it? maybe he is a gambling addict that is why he also bets on himself, maybe he has another thing doing at the back, he may not happen to him if he is managing finances hope he wakes up, before its too late.

On reading the article/news, the total amounts as to why he was evicted was $21,000, I don't think something adds here, even if he sports betting were to be true, I don't think it should have been as severe as him not being able to pay rent while he was still playing actively in the league, and more so the article stated that it's happened twice with the landlord first February and May while he was taken charge to court the first time, before the eviction order finally came in June.

He's creating quite a mess for himself right now, especially being in free agency, I'm sure teams will begin to avoid him now like a plague, at least until the federal investigations are over.

Indeed, if he proves his worth then expect that Spurs will bring more decent offer for him, for now let him and Wemby create a good duo to bring Spurs back to the playoff competitor and who knows if they catch up much earlier we might see them move forward to the finals, there are improvements just like you say as teams always wanted to keep their stars and give that huge offer to let them stay, as long as they are gaining from the marketing and the business still moving forward we will see more and more huge offers from each franchise to have their stars continue to wear their jerseys.

Well, it's worth noting that he's far from the only NBA player facing such problems. The stories of Antoine Walker and Delonte West are no better.
By the way, I once came across information that approximately 60% of NBA players go bankrupt or experience financial difficulties within five years after the end of their careers.

He pursue a luxurious lifestyle that punish him a lot financially while his performance drastically affected that’s why his personal life and career collapse together at once.

Perhaps he doesn’t have a financial manager when he need it the most to manage his assets and finances.

This is the typical problem when someone earning big doesn’t do financial management on spendings. Such a waste of talent since he is already good before sudden drop of performance.

This is very  true, most NBA players ended up nothing after they are gone from the NBA. This is due to lack of investment and knowledge on how they will manage their wealth.
Bar and girls are one of the most reason why they were being bankrupt. I hope it is not too late for Beasley to get up and make his life better.

This is very  true, most NBA players ended up nothing after they are gone from the NBA. This is due to lack of investment and knowledge on how they will manage their wealth.
Bar and girls are one of the most reason why they were being bankrupt. I hope it is not too late for Beasley to get up and make his life better.

Gambling as well could be one factor. I remember one player, when his friends and entourage going to Las Vegas and play and gamble and have fun all night long. So that is the dangers for this young black players, very young and with a lot of money at their disposal. And then the lack of knowledge of how to handle that money. I think Antoine Walker becoming a spokesman to new players because he is one of those who fell victim on it. Hopefully Beasley can get up from his predicament right now and can bounce back and have a better life. 60% is a huge numbers for NBA players going bankrupt after their career is over. The NBA might have responsibility as well to remind players when they are coming into the league and let them know the consequences of their actions in the future if they didn't take care of their money.

Well, it's worth noting that he's far from the only NBA player facing such problems. The stories of Antoine Walker and Delonte West are no better.

If they live a luxurious lifestyle and didn't think about investment while they are earning huge in NBA they might really end up getting broke.

This is interesting article of those NBA player who got broke after their career ends in NBA https://fadeawayworld.net/20-nba-players-who-went-broke-and-lost-millions-of-dollars

To bad for Beasley that he experience all of this and for sure he already regret all of those mistakes he made. I don't know how he can bounce back in his situation, but let see if there's still a team would trust him since many teams lost their trust due to those big issues he currently facing on.
