 Yeah, this is one of those sad but not surprising stories we see too often with ex-NBA guys.  When you’re pulling in millions during your career, it feels like the money will never end, but the reality check always comes after retirement if you haven’t been smart with finances. Ariza’s numbers are brutal — $14k + $10k + $4k a month is insane burn rate when there’s no big paycheck coming in anymore.
I agree with you, — lifestyle plays a huge role. A lot of players don’t downshift after their career, they keep spending like the contracts are still rolling in. And yeah, unlike some others who transition to coaching, media, or even business ventures, Ariza seems to have been left without a second act. That makes it even tougher.

At the same time, child support is non-negotiable. He made those choices, and he has to own them. The system doesn’t care if you’re broke or rich, the payments are court-ordered. If he doesn’t pay, he risks jail, and that’s a whole new level of problems.

Sure is impressive. But there are also some of players from the draft classes before 2010 still active in the NBA. But yeah, the longevity of this guy is crazy and makes you wonder at least a little but if it's all clean, if you know what I'm saying. There have been some voices recently that made some allegations, well you never know. Anyway, dud is crazy what he is still capable of doing.
I often play with guys that are 10-20 years younger than me and they almost never believe me that age makes such a HUGE difference. I only tell them "just wait, you'll see".

John Wall was an unlucky player all around, quite similar to Lillard to be fair. He was Wizards franchise player and he was an all-star level point guard, he was a star at that team, but they never built a great team around him. While there were some decent players at some years, he was never given a proper championship calibre team, and spent most of his life futile attempt to make them be good, and of course failed.

This is why I think the later years was just chasing brag and that is why ı think it is important to realize that we are going to see him happier now if he moves to pundit life because he won't be forced to endure bad teams. He made some good money, more than any normal person does, so he should learn to love the way he lived, and the money he has and invest smartly.

I can only speculate that during that era, franchise players are supposedly to carry the team without any "another" player. But then after that, we have the big 3 and others that's why as much as John Wall is really a good to great player, we was not able to carry Washington. But we can all remember that he has some crazy games back in his prime and yeah, we could compare him to Lillard career as both is great and even hit their primes with their team but it was not enough as they are not surround with players than can really help them to go to the next level.

Well Draymond is Draymond, They are the NBA favorite they let GSW have their on way multiple times for the span of years, the moving screen, the fouls that is out of this world the refs, they all get away with it, they protected curry, but every players has to be traded when the time they no longer needed dray he will be traded for sure, they are just waiting for someone to offer for dray, and they will let them go, Poole should been a great second scorer they just like dray better.

LBJ isn't doing some Podcasts that's why he lots of time to maintain his health unlike PG13 where he focused more on Podcasts rather than his health last season that's why he played less than half of the total regular season games.

Kidding aside, it's only a matter of time until PG will retire as well. The Sixers made a huge mistake by giving him a max contract only to play like that in his first season with that team. If he'll be doing the same, I will not be surprised if the Sixers will buyout his contract and there will be no more team that will be interested on him hence, retiring might play overseas. Lebron is on a different dimension when it comes to health. Imagine a 40 year old player averaging all-star stats still. We haven't seen anything like that that's why the NBA will be different as soon as he retires that's for sure.

As for John Wall, he's another victim by "Great career ruined by injuries". He had a superb career back when he's still in Washington and he and Beal carried that team to the playoffs as well until injuries came. Anyway, congratulations still to him.

I’m sure a lot of you still remember Trevor Ariza, former LA Lakers player who helped them win a championship. He’s already retired now, but instead of enjoying retirement life, the guy is struggling just to pay child support. He even said no money is coming in anymore, which is kinda shocking considering he earned over $100 million during his NBA career.

People mistake how much the teams pay and how much the players take.

First of all half of that goes to tax, so if he made 100 million (I didn't check myself, I am just telling what you said) that means he actually got 50 million of that. Agents take at least 10%, so assume 10% for him (could be even more) that means 5 million is gone too, then there is personal people who work with them, PT's, cooks, and many other people too, like assistants and maids etc etc.

That takes another million at least, probably more. They have mortgage like any other person, but obviously they get mansions, so it is a million or so there. Overall, when you calculate it, you are left with 40 million.

That means, over a 10 year playing career, they make 4 million a year. And then, they are asked to make that stretch as well, so for 30-40 years, they need to live with 40 million, so that means 1 million a year, which isn't that bad, but it's far lesser than some senior developer at SF. So do not assume these guys actually make a lot. They have a tiny window where they make a lot, but then they make zero.

So overall, some workers make more than them if you compare all life earnings. Specially considering inflation. Where a player could make more than you between 2020-2030, but then they make zero, whereas you still make money at 2040-2050, and due to inflation, you make more than their life time earnings in a year or two.

I wouldn't say he is protected by the referee, but I do agree that he keeps on whining inside and outside of the NBA. Referee is calling technicals on him in the last here or so, but for sure he won't be stopping anytime soon.

As for career outside, yeah, he is gaining momentum on his podcast, but I don't think it will be enough for him though. Maybe good because he can stay relevant once he retired. But there are a lot of good sports podcast as well. And in the upcoming season, could be their last straw to make a run on the championship again.

They would not acknowledge it, its seems that its Durant needed them lol, but now some podcaster telling they all fly to Durant place and beg to join their team, imagine asking someone to join them then after helping them win the rings 2x, they all tell lies like they don't need Durant to win its another way around, which is crazy because even with only James during the 2 championship they have Durant carry them like babies in the finals, without Durant, James get 3 straight ring because that's prime James, anyone agree.

Yeah, I kinda get your point here. Draymond’s trash talk is part of who he is, but sometimes it goes too far and hurts the team more than it helps. That whole Durant situation really left a mark — hard to just brush it off, especially now that KD is in Houston. If the Rockets and Warriors meet in the playoffs, it could easily turn into one of the spiciest series of the season.

As for the $100M contract, I also scratched my head when it happened. His numbers don’t justify it in the box score, but I guess the Warriors’ management value his defense, locker room presence, and chemistry with Steph and Klay more than just stats. I  really think that the problem is their system used. Small ball team is well scouted strategy now and this is maybe the reason why they are struggling to win now that's why they keep losing with their roster they have now.

Maybe Warriors need a revamp and try to get solid center like maybe Horford since he's provably helpful for Warriors since we can't deny that he's still good then have championship experience.

But its not verified if he can sign him since I think they are struggling on current stand off happening on Kuminga's contract signing.

Mainly because his presence alone is very intimidating to the opponent team star player. He is good on annoying opponents to lost focus on the game. He is also good on defense which is the key factor on why the Warriors still relevant despite having no tough defensive player on their roster.

Green age is already slowing him down. Maybe his contract value will already go downhill soon.

He is still needed in able to make the Butler-Curry tandem work.

LeBron is one of the greatest athletes in the world. Normally, basketball players his age would have retired years ago, but he's still striving to become a champion. He still has the athleticism of a 20-year-old, and his game is still incredibly high.
That's why he's one of the most respected people in the world, and it's incredible that we still watch him on the court. He's achieved more than any other basketball player
