13M Now circulation EGC... 15M max supply lol less coin supply than bitcoin? There really is no max supply per se because of staking. True, 13 million EGC were generated from PoW mining. Now the only new EGC come from PoS of 7%. But this will continue forever. Mathematically, this COULD calculate to 910000 in the first year (7% of 13 mil) from this point but that will not happen as that would only happen if the 13 million sat completely unmoved and staking the entire year. The actual number the supply will increase has many variables and each of your wallets/coins play into those variables across the network. Every time coins are moved this equation is effected. Every time a wallet starts or stops staking effects the equation. To project the supply growth now would involve making some serious assumptions, flat out guesses perhaps, and can not be precisely done. But it would be far less than 910000 per year for many years to come. But the total supply will always increase by a maximum of 7%, but certainly less. Some year in the very distant future, it will top 910000 per year, but still will not be more than 7%, as this is cumulative. It is really quite fascinating when you think about it. To answer the original question, yes the EGC supply at present (~13 million) is less than BTC supply at present (~15.2 million as of February). |
