Still no premine and no ICO?
Not SERIOUS here I can see.
Are they're any SERIOUS investors here like myself?

It doesnt seem like you understand what this means?

Also, the foundations funding is specified on the frontpage. Read up on it.

(99%+ of premine/ico coins are SCAMS)

I took some screenshots walking through verifying an EverGreenCoin wallet is on the correct blockchain and made a small instruction set. It should take you less than 15 minutes to conduct this test and I hope these instructions are found useful. I kindly ask you, please do find the time to do so if you haven't recently verified your blockchain by a similar method as outlined here or by entering the faucet.

These screenshots are taken from a Linux machine. You may see slight variations in your OS of choice, but the logic remains the same. First, take a look at your EverGreenCoin wallet. To conduct this test, we need both the "Statistics" button/tab and the "Block Explorer" button/tab within your EverGreenCoin wallet. You may not see these tabs initially.

To gain access to these two tabs we need, "Statistics" and "Block Explorer", we have a few options. We can drag and expand the window so it is wide enough, we can click the small green sliver at the extreme right of the toolbar, or we can just simply maximize the entire window.

"Statistics" and "Block Explorer"
not visible.

Toolbar expanded,
revealing the "Statistics" and "Block Explorer".

Window widened or maximized,
revealing the "Statistics" and "Block Explorer".

Now that we have access to the buttons/tabs we need, click on the "Statistics" button/tab so we can observe where this copy of the blockchain is at. This is measured in "Block Height".

We can see that this wallet is at Block Height 465738 at the time I took this screenshot and I will use that number for this example. Take note of that number you see besides the "Block Height" label. The number you see will be different, hopefully slightly higher. By what degree higher will be determined by what time you conduct this test in relation to what time I made the screenshot.

Now we take that noted number, the Block Height this wallet is at, over to the "Block Explorer" tab. Input the Block Height number into the box in the upper left. In this example I input the 465738 number I noted from the Statistics tab. After you have input the number you have noted, your block height, you have noted, click the "Jump to Block" button. Your wallet will output some information about the block. What we are interested in is the "Block Hash".

Leave your EverGreenCoin wallet open and as it is one the block explorer. Open a web browser of your choice and navigate to http://transactions.evergreencoin.org (http://158.69.205.238:3001/). This is the official EverGreenCoin Block Explorer. We are going to use this Block Explorer to compare the Block Hash your wallet has for that specific block number you noted. I will continue using the 465738 number for my example but, you want to use the number you noted from the Statistics tab.

Input the number you noted from the Statistics tab in the search text field. Then press the search button and wait for the results.

When the results are returned, look at the block hash the online block explorer returns. This is labeled "EGC block:" and will be directly below the search text field.

What we need to do is compare this long string of characters, the block hash, to that of which your wallet has and verify they are the same. You do not need to painstakingly compare the entire string. Only comparing the first 5 or 6 characters and the last 5 or 6 characters will suffice.

If the block hash the block explorer tells us is the same as the block hash your wallet tells us, congratulations you have just verified your EverGreenCoin wallet is on the correct blockchain. If the block hash does not match, take a moment to verify you did in fact compare the same block number (aka "Block Height"). In the unfortunate even you find you do have a different block hash for the same block number than what the online block explorer has returned, you are in a fork. Please close your EverGreenCoin wallet and do not open it until you are ready to resync to the correct chain. Leaving your wallet open when we have determined it is in a fork only helps the incorrect fork gain strength, so please promptly close it. Following the directions in this post will get you back on the correct blockchain. If you are not on version 1.2.1, please do so before you resync. Version 1.2.1 has measures in it that will help mitigate you from getting in a fork again and is in yours and the network's best interest. The entire EGC network thanks you for taking the time to do so.

In addition to the above test, you may wish to enter the official faucet. This is an easy and rewarding way to verify you are on the correct blockchain. I process payouts at both 12 AM and 12 PM eastern standard time. If you receive your payout, you are on the correct blockchain. Do not be alarmed if this does not happen precisely at 12 AM or 12 PM EST. Please allow me a small window as I do inspect the entries in the database before initiating the script that sends payments. Sometimes fictitious entries are made and I do not want to waste my own or the foundation's coins on people that wish to only exploit the faucet. I will increase the payout amount now also as a show of thanks for verifying you are on the correct blockchain but please, only enter once per round. The fictitious entries only slow down the payments and I will not pay any entry I can link to any fictitious entries. Fortunately this has not currently been as large of an issue as it has in the past.

Thank you all for taking the time, by ways of verifying block hashes I outlined here and/or by simply entering the faucet, to verify you are on the correct blockchain and not supporting a fork. The weaker forks become, the less likely they are to pull other people into it.

Quoting this because I am getting several PMs asking how to verify a copy of the blockchain is correct. There may be others still wondering. Following these quoted instructions to verify your copy of the blockchain.

I am continuing to work on the new code. Presently experimenting with 3 minute block target times. Please be patient as this will require much testing that takes a lot of time, even when hot-wiring things to happen faster. My aim is to have this thoroughly tested and wallets compiled and release this weekend, hopefully Friday. If I can stick to this timeline the hard fork will be programmed to occur shortly after, perhaps Sunday. All of this is tentative at this time and could change, but I did not want to leave you wondering on what the plan is.

The network looks solid as of now. Hopefully it stays that way and no forks occur before the new wallets are released. If you have a v1.2.1 EGC wallet that is on the correct chain, I ask you leave it run as often as you can so that version 1.2.1 wallets continue to have a strong majority. Thank you in advance for doing so.

In the mean time, you may wish to take advantage of the low difficulty and try solo mining. If you pool mined EGC, you should have no difficulty solo mining and I explained how to in this post.

Ccex, Bittrex, and Staisybit all have been informed and are on standby for the new wallet. Of course, I will contact Cryptopia and yobit also.

Thanks for all the continued patience and understanding EGC community.

Evergreencoin Hi,

New wallet ? but 1.2.1 wallet working just fine Smiley

its not working fine - when the community refuses to upgrade ...

it astounds me that a great deal of community members STILL havent upgraded to the latest wallet - which is what you mentioned - 1.2.1.0 ...

hence the reason for the work for this next release ... a hardfork for the time changes in PoS - and possibly PoW ... as well as a lockout of ALL wallets prior to the next release ... which means ALL community members and exchanges that have a daemon running NEED to upgrade - otherwise they will be on the wrong fork ...

we believe that part ( not the only ) of the issue with the regular forking - is the lack up upgrading - and the vulnerability this entails to the network when people DONT upgrade ...

so - with a hardfork and updated wallet - this is forced ... THEN we can work on the real issues that may be causing these forks to the network ... if this new wallet does what its supposed to do - it MAY fix the issue for good ... as we have yet to find the core issue - and with so many versions of wallets out there - its almost impossible to do unless EVERYONE is on the right wallet and right chain ...

tireless hours are being spent in the background on this - not just for those of you with wallet issues - but for us too ... so that we can move forward on the development of the projects we have ...

like i mentioned earlier - i am not so gentle or eloquent as steven when posting - but i hope the points im making are coming across ...

but as a community as whole - tanx for enduring the headaches with us though - as we continue to work on out the bugs and issues ...

Is there a way for me to block connections to old wallets?

Its annoying if they "sabotage" us.

linux / windows / osx - in the wallet ...

Code:
getpeerinfo

from the daemon ...

linux - executable ...

Code:
./evergreencoind getpeerinfo

or service / executable ...

Code:
evergreencoind getpeerinfo

windows daemon ...

Code:
evergreencoind.exe getpeerinfo

this will show you all the peers you have - and the versions of the connected peers ... but you cannot 'block' them per se ...

easier to wait till steven weaves his magic with the new wallet ...

all the seeds we have seem to have TOO MANY old wallets running ... this needs to stop ...

when the new version is released - say 1.2.2.0 for example - any wallet below that will be locked out ...

we just need patience for steven to get it done - and we can test the new wallets ( which should have the PoW / PoS changes also ) when they are ...

patience and diligence - on all our parts ... this is only ONE of the coins we look after - and intend on keeping it solid when we can iron the issues out ... i think steven is doing a HUGE job here - and we are working towards a very stable network in the future ...

Thanks.
Ok so this way i can block them in my firewall.

I have no problem following this coin through these bumps, as they are clearly understandable.
Also i think the effort from the teams side show a dedication so many coins lack.
Im feeling it is in good hands.

Also PoW soon over.. that will be very interesting.

Whining about having to upgrade wallet?

Here's a real life comparison to "wallet upgrade" that happend to me yesterday.

Im the store about to pay my groceries when the bank terminal says "card out of date".
F¤%#K!

Ofcourse my bank has sent me a new card.. but my lazy ass hasnt swapped the old one.

Yep, i didnt "upgrade" in time .. and i looked stupid for it

Yes thanks to the people putting all the hard work in to make this a great coin.

Yes its roughly a 96.5% drop in production of new coins. If only we can create a demand for EGC it should get the price to start climbing.

Ok EGC community, please listen up. This is important.

To do this hard fork there exists two options. Neither are exactly pretty.

Option A) Big bang. Basically we do something like a re-launch but with the EXISTING blockchain and a NEW PROTOCOL version.

Option B) Slow bang. The hard fork occurs on the EXISTING blockchain with NO PROTOCOL change.

After much collaboration and consideration with Mammix, Option A does make more sense for EverGreenCoin and I will explain why.

With option B, old wallets could not be locked out. Older wallets would continue down there own and after the fork incorrect path and could potentially peer with the new (v1.2.1 or the forthcoming v1.3) wallets and lead them down an incorrect fork. This would lead to a repeat of the situation we have seen occur recently and this solves no problems.

With Option A, old wallets (including the v1.2.1) would be blocked by ways of not having the sufficient protocol version that EGC v1.3 will introduce. Older wallets would continue to connect with each other and proceed down the incorrect fork but they would be blocked from the seednodes after the big bang occurs. Exchanges would be brought onto the new version as fast as possible.

What I propose is we do option A and do so in the very near future of the next 24 to 48 hours. I need to collaborate with crysx to get an agreed upon time to switch the seednodes on the granite network. I have made all the changes to the source code and made the repo private for the time being.

What will happen is at the agreed upon time, much like a launch, source code and wallets (v1.3) will be made public. Seednodes will be switched over at that time and the new protocol version network will begin to form. Everyone will need to upgrade, it will be mandatory. If you do not upgrade, you will be fine so long as you do not send or receive with the old versions.

The hard fork for 3 minute block target times is programmed to occur at block 495000, well after the big bang has had time to occur. I am sorry that it must happen this way, but it must to ensure the network functions as intended and reliably in the future, especially when PoW ends. Yes, this will move the ending of PoW out in relation to time but PoW will still end at block 525960.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to it.
Just had one of my 1.2.1 wallets fork again last night.

Will 1.3 wallets be available compiled when the new wallet launches?

Option A is the better one in my opinion too. Like it is said in Spain: "Borrón y cuenta nueva" ("Clean up and go again"). If it's mandatory go ahead.

Definitely go with Option A so we can get rid of the old wallets asap...

Same as Kazadar I had one of my 1.2.1 wallets fork again yesterday which just finished re-syncing a few hours ago.

As soon as the source is made public I'll be ready to compile and deploy asap as well...

This will be the game plan for the "big bang" as of now, executed at a time yet to be determined:

1. Windows and Mac OS X EGC v1.3 wallet links will be made public and the source code repository made public, allowing for downloads to begin.
2. All seednodes wallets, the block explorer, the faucet, and miscellaneous supporting wallets will be simultaneously stopped.
3. Snap shots of the blocchain will be made for historical purposes at the seednodes.
4. All supporting EGC v1.3 wallets (seednodes, block explorer, faucet, ect.) will be brought on-line.
5. Exchanges will be notified the version 1.3 wallet is available and urged to upgrade. All exchanges have been notified this event is forthcoming. DO NOT move any EGC to or from an exchange until it has been verified to be on the new protocol and on the correct blockchain.

I have the download links ready to post. I have the 2 EGC network seednodes, block explorer, faucet, and supporting version 1.3 wallets compiled and ready  for the time as of now. Crysx has been provided access to the private repository to download the v1.3 source code and build on the 5 granite network seednodes when he returns to his desk. None of these seednodes will be brought on-line with v1.3 until step number 4 in the above list.

The time this will occur at is still not determined. It will be conforming to crysx's schedule as his schedule is less flexible than mine. If you can not upgrade to EGC version 1.3 at this yet to be determined time, there is no cause for alarm. You only need to do it as soon as you can. DO NOT try to send or receive after this to be announced time with ANY wallet other than the soon to be released version 1.3 wallet.

As you may know by now, every effort was made to avoid this and I apologize for the time these matters have consumed of yours. Every possible effort is being made so this transition happens as seamlessly as possible and has minimal, if any, negative effects on the community. If you are uncertain of this impact on you, all you need to know is you must upgrade once v1.3 is made available before you try to send and receive EGC and do not send or receive EGC from or to an exchange until you see an announcement that the exchange has been verified.
