Exactly, that's what I read too. Ferrari is only working on setup and porposing because of the sprint race at Imola due to limited time. According to Binotto there is no time to test new components and understand them because Friday is already the qualifying for the sprint race.

Do Ferrari still have a joker and may still improve the MGU-K?

I'm also doubtful if this could cause any penalties for Ferrari, but I think in any case this is a necessary investment, because at a time when Max Verstappen has suffered two retirements in three races, Ferrari needs to deliver a "master stroke". Andrea Dovizioso is not sure that Yamaha will soon make an update to address the problem of the lack of rear tire grip, for the sake of their future.
Maybe he has to think about how to create the winning next after the substitute issue (Jake Dixon). Yamaha wants the winning, and so far Dovizioso has not yet given what the team wants. Only getting 3 points is very bad for racers who have the credibility. But I believe When Yamaha hears what Dovizioso said about rear tire grip, he will have no trouble overcoming the bend as he did on Ducati.

Am I the only one thinking that Ferrari was going to dominate anyway even if Red Bull didn't have reliability issues?  It seems like the narrative the journalists want to sell us is 'it will close season between Ferrari and Red Bull if not for the reliability issues' when it's pretty obvious Ferrari has the better package.

And that race Verstappen won was situational.  It took two yellow flags to help him close the gap with Leclerc.

No, I think without the reliability issues it's still too close to call. You're right about Verstappen getting lucky with safety cars for that win, but if we ignore that race, then we've had...

Bahrain, where RB qualified right up with the Ferraris, and in the race Verstappen was right up with Leclerc, until the DNF.
Australia, the latest race, where the Ferraris appear to have the advantage and Leclerc was clearly faster than Verstappen.

So as far as I can see, we've only really had Australia where Ferrari look clearly better... which I think is far too early to call it, if we're ignoring reliability. Different tracks will suit different cars, and it may just be that this year Australia is a Ferrari track.

Of course this is just if we're ignoring reliability... if RB have to make some modifications and compromises in order to be more reliable, that will likely slow them down, and hand the advantage to Ferrari.

It looks good for safety but it looks easier and better for a bike with great power, maybe Yamaha will suffer at this track. It's still August we're going to see the Austrian MotoGP.
Next of course MotoGP will return to Europe. Next week we will be in Portugal, it looks like Yamaha is strong here, a lot of corners are in Yamaha's favour to win. In 2021 Quartararo won in Portugal, but he was pasted Bagnaia and Mir. I won't guess who the winner is but guessing the Yamaha again, I'm not sure.

I agree, without the reliability issues, Max would have been second in both races, which means that dude would had 36 points on top of his current 25, which is 61 points, Charles has 71. If you have just 10 points after 3 races, then it looks like it would be decent and not a big problem and too close to call.

This proves that reliability issues is the main thing that separates them. If Red Bull has a few more of these, they will just let go off the season and start working on the next years car for sure, because having zero points in a race means that you shouldn't even raced and all of that money could have gone to winning a title next year.

He needs time to adjust the situation, His bike is also the same which what Quartararo used, but what is the different the style with each others. We know Quartararo is Senior in Yamaha, his style already integrated for long time. this is different with Dovizioso, he don't have habitual overtake with brake. If he can get over it, I believe he will be a tough competitor Quartararo. He just need a style is the same what he did on Ducati.

The host racer has also won in Portugal, namely Miguel Oliveira with the Satellit KTM motorbike in 2020 and on the podium there is also a Yamaha with the rider Morbidelli.
But at the beginning of last season Fabio Quartararo also won there, which means that the circuit is indeed suitable for Yamaha if the manufacturer can start racing on the front row, because in the second half of last year's season when MotoGP was also held at the same circuit, namely in Portugal, Fabio Quartararo was overwhelmed by all the riders he ended up crashing during the race, so Yamaha would be good there if he started the race in pole position.

I think so too and I also agree more with what you say because before that change in the past, Yamaha did look very difficult there so that until last year it had not tasted a single victory, and maybe it will be different for this year where Yamaha has been able to compete with the changes made to the Austrian straight.

Ferrari certainly has the best package at the moment in terms of performance and reliability, in the corners the Ferrari is very fast and on the straights they have a reliable and strong power unit. RedBull is slightly faster on the straights, which is actually unusual, but the power unit is not reliable enough to always be operated at the limit. If there are more defects, there will soon be a penalty for RedBull.

Mercedes does not yet understand the porposing exactly, but in the last race Hamilton had sensors on the car, which is not usual to understand it better. Will be an exciting season with no advantages for Ferrari.

For Imola, RedBull is rumored to bring a new big update on his suspension.

Ferrari however is rumored to have 0 updates but hard work on proposing.

Ferrari is also rumored to have an engine upgrade to fight the top speed of Redbull with then engine 2, and if nothing happens will be in Barcelona.

I'm not too excited with any update from Red Bull if it isn't an update for their power unit.  But I don't think we'll be seeing much of 'new engine updates' from them anyway...  So yeah, I think it's gonna be another Ferrari win at Imola.  Leclerc doesn't seem to have lost track position that he started with at every race in this track.  I don't see any reason how that would change unless some dumb accident happens.

Since Portugal's Portimao circuit has been included in the MotoGP calendar, only three riders have won races there and all three are riders who are also very strong this season because they are still able to provide competition in every race.

Maybe he has to think about how to create the winning next after the substitute issue (Jake Dixon). Yamaha wants the winning, and so far Dovizioso has not yet given what the team wants. Only getting 3 points is very bad for racers who have the credibility. But I believe When Yamaha hears what Dovizioso said about rear tire grip, he will have no trouble overcoming the bend as he did on Ducati.

Yes, I think so because the rumors that have been circulating now are about Jake Dixon who will replace Dovizioso in the Yamaha satellite team if Dovizioso is not able to be on the podium this season and in several races that have been going on it has been seen where Dovizioso is very difficult with his motorbike so can't get a lot of points for now. Very sad.


Dovizioso has successfully ridden Ducati for years that is already a change to the Yamaha, completely different driving characteristics and also requires a change in driving style, with the Yamaha you can currently only overtake on the brakes.

That is clear because Dovizioso himself must be able to change his riding method to be able to tame the Yamaha motorbike which is famous for being very soft so that he can overtake his opponent in certain parts and one of them is when his opponent is braking in the corner.

Ferrari certainly has the best package at the moment in terms of performance and reliability, in the corners the Ferrari is very fast and on the straights they have a reliable and strong power unit. RedBull is slightly faster on the straights, which is actually unusual, but the power unit is not reliable enough to always be operated at the limit. If there are more defects, there will soon be a penalty for RedBull.

Mercedes does not yet understand the porposing exactly, but in the last race Hamilton had sensors on the car, which is not usual to understand it better. Will be an exciting season with no advantages for Ferrari.

For Imola, RedBull is rumored to bring a new big update on his suspension.

Ferrari however is rumored to have 0 updates but hard work on proposing.

Ferrari is also rumored to have an engine upgrade to fight the top speed of Redbull with then engine 2, and if nothing happens will be in Barcelona.

I'm not too excited with any update from Red Bull if it isn't an update for their power unit.  But I don't think we'll be seeing much of 'new engine updates' from them anyway...  So yeah, I think it's gonna be another Ferrari win at Imola.  Leclerc doesn't seem to have lost track position that he started with at every race in this track.  I don't see any reason how that would change unless some dumb accident happens.

Oh and it's in Italy...  

I'd love to see Ferrari win in Italy, especially when they are looking so strong and are probably favourites for the championship. The fans will go wild if Leclerc wins.

Will be interested to see the RB upgrade... but obviously all eyes are on their reliability and whether the car can finish, not so sure if the suspension can feed into that at all.

I agree, without the reliability issues, Max would have been second in both races, which means that dude would had 36 points on top of his current 25, which is 61 points, Charles has 71. If you have just 10 points after 3 races, then it looks like it would be decent and not a big problem and too close to call.

This proves that reliability issues is the main thing that separates them. If Red Bull has a few more of these, they will just let go off the season and start working on the next years car for sure, because having zero points in a race means that you shouldn't even raced and all of that money could have gone to winning a title next year.
I do not think that he has any chances left even after the third race, all depends on Charles and Ferrari of course because we could maybe see them miss a few races as well but we need to remember that Red Bull probably won't finish all of the remainder of the races, in all season we have regular situations where it is either about the tyres, or car itself, or a crash with another driver, or just simply spin out who knows, I doubt Max would spin out Cheesy. But, we have seen races that he couldn't finish, and he already had 2, and I guess there will be maybe couple more, Charles could have couple more too, every racer would have a couple of them.

I checked weather forecast for weekend and there is rain shown with low temperatures on Friday, clean Saturday and rain on Sunday. If I'm not mistaken, these cars didn't had wet sessions during pre-season tests and without any doubts during season. So, it's interesting how new cars will behave on wet track and for who this rain would be beneficial
Don't forget that this weekend we have sprint race first time this season.

The teams have now had some time to work on the car. There is still a lot of work to be done, especially at Mercedes. However, the question is whether Mercedes will still get things in order, I doubt that. Ferrari has done a great job. Red Bull is decent, but not more than that. 2 retirements for Verstappen in 3 races, then you don't have to think about the championship yet. Hamilton who will drive these races with a special feeling, knowing that he cannot win.
