If you have a need to be allowed into the forum beyond before you have completed the required 5 posts and 4 hours logged in, please post your request here. You must provide evidence that shows that you either understand more about Bitcoin than the average newbie, or that what you want to post can only be done in another forum. Reasons such as "I'm not a spammer" will be ignored. Try to be as specific as possible.

If you are asking to be whitelisted because you are having a problem with something, we generally look more favorably on people who have already attempted to solve their issue in the Newbie forum. Even if you end up not qualifying for preemptive whitelisting, your post might still qualify for being moved to another forum if you have received insufficient help after a few hours.

For the current status of how far along we are in processing whitelist requests, check the Pending Whitelists thread.

Please note: If you see "Jr. Member" by your name, you have already met the 5 posts and 4 hour requirements and don't need to post here. Additionally, after you meet the requirements, it can take up to 10 minutes for your account to be automatically upgraded.

this is what i know and beleave

Bitcoins are the world's first peer to peer, distributed electronic currency. This means that they can be sent directly from person to person over the internet, without needing anyone's help or permission. They are free to send, receive, or to store, and they can be as public or anonymous as you want them to be.

With bitcoins, a person in California can send $20,000 USD worth of value to a person in Russia in a matter of seconds, for FREE.

In comparison: Paypal would cost about $600, and take a few seconds. Credit card would cost about $600 and take a few days, to a week, or more. Bank wire would cost about $40, and take one or two days.

By all of the traditional payment methods, any government can block your transaction for any arbitrary reason.
Because Bitcoins are peer to peer, no one can block your transaction for any reason, ever. A recent example of this property of Bitcoin being put to use, is with the online gambling industry.
Recently the USA Federal government blocked credit card companies and banks from being allowed to process gambling related transactions.
Since then, numerous online gambling sites that use Bitcoins have launched.
Because Bitcoins are sent over a distributed, peer to peer network, governments are powerless to stop them.

With traditional government issued currencies, politicians are always tempted to just print more whenever they have a budget short fall due to the most recent war, bailout, or “stimulus” package. When governments do this, all the citizen’s savings lose value in real terms. With Bitcoins, governments can never take the value of your money in this way. Because the software is open source, we know that there will never ever be more than twenty one million Bitcoins. No one will be able to provide themselves with additional bitcoins by decree, as happens so often with traditional government issued currencies.

Bitcoins are also resistant to government tracking or seizure. With just a few steps, anyone can store their bitcoins in such a way that governments or other theives are powerless to access them without the correct password.

Bitcoins may also make paying most taxes voluntary since governments will lose the power to track or control who sends bitcoins to whom. The IRS, DEA, Customs and Border Patrol, and other agencies will no longer be able to seize peoples money at will.

Bitcoins may also bring an end to war. Currently governments force all of their citizens to pay for war efforts whether they are in favor of the war or not. Once Bitcoin use is wide spread, the people in favor of the wars will no longer be able to force the people against the wars to pay for them.
If suddently, the half the population who does not support the wars stop paying for them, it will quickly become much more expensive for the suppoters of war to continue funding it. I suspect that many people who claim to be in favor of the current wars would change their mind if they had to pay for all of it themselves.

Because Bitcoins are limited to 21,000,000 and they have so many advantages over traditional government issued currencies,
once even a small percentage of the economy begins using bitcoins, the price will quickly soar to thousands of dollars per Bitcoin or more.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

They are being extorted by the owner of the website "casascius dot net", which was a scam website a few days back. They got to scam several people already.

What help would you be able to give that can't be done in a direct email to casascius?
Perhaps he's the owner of .net version of the domain?
I don't need to prove anything. Contact him directly if you won't let me in. The last thing I want is to get questioned just for trying to help.

I apologize for my comment. I guess it was uncalled for.

No, your comment wasn't uncalled for. "Retired" saying they want whitelisted for a vague reason like wanting to "help" someone and then avoiding a direct question about what help just makes it look more like bullshit if you ask me.

If "Retired" had any information that would help, he'd email it first. Unless he's the scammer, it's obvious he just wants to be a part of the conversation. Wanting to be a part of a conversation is hardly a reason to whitelist.
Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Hi there

If there is a way to be whitelisted I would really appreciate. I think I can help on this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=8994.120 topic as I use a Mac, I had the same problem and found a way to setup the UI to change the worksize.

Else I will wait, 2h to go!   :p

id like to be whitelisted because even though i just found out about bitcoin, im very familiar with online currencies and this has to be the most amazing one to date and the most innovative, ive been earning my coins off of freecoin site, and cant wait to set up a 100 servers and mine all day long, i am an old school bulk mailer and once i know 1 coin is worth over 3 bucks, im ready to mine in bulk. ive only been collecting a few days and already have over 600 coins, and i would really like to move onto the other forums so i can exchange them for cold hard cash, after all this is what this site is all about growing the bitcoin economy right? well if thats the case you sure can use a guy like me involved lol ...thanks

Hello,
Could I be whitelisted, Please?
I've knowledge for Bitcoin over 2-3 month and up to now I'm only a passive reader on this board. I am already active at other Bitcoin boards, e.g. http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/ or the german forum https://forum.bitcoin.de/
Now I've read the post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=50797.msg618677#msg618677 from BTCurios. He's serching for a tester and I have some experience with running that script he is the author. I wish to report my observations, may be it helps for debuging.

Thank you

Can you describe how the system would work in a paragraph or two?

It's actually in the abstract of the paper:
This is a paper of a P2P system that let users trade digital works online(freelancing). There are some basic peer-review processes that guarantee the works are paid fairly, and the whole system is completely decentralized, but prone to fraud client attacks.

Hi
can you remove the newbie restriction for my account? I have been monitoring bitcoin for nearly one year so I have enough knowledge about bitcoin.

Hi, I am requesting an early whitelisting. I developed the Bitcoin casino site http://diamondco.in/ and I am hoping to promote it on the gambling forum. I will, of course, obey all applicable rules, including the one-thread-per-site rule.

Hi,

I'd like to access the Marketplace this afternoon if possible. I've been lurking the forums for some time (especially the speculation board), so I'm not completely clueless Smiley

I'd like to be whitelisted. I've been following Bitcoin somewhat for about a year, but I just recently got into it deeply. Not a newbie, I've been around the block (pun intended)  Grin  Been involved in the Free Market-Anarchy and Libertarianism scene for awhile. So I know my economics  Smiley
