Has anyone been able to sync from scratch recently with the headless node running on HDD instead of SSD?
I tried to sync several times - no success. I run it on an old notebook which collects dust all the other time, what are minimal requirements for full node hardware setup?

EDIT: I got an answer on the slack, apparently my notebook is too old. I'll look for a better one.

That is a wrong assumption. I have never been online when Byteballs nor BlackByteballs were distributed. I received all distributions by now. I guess you did something wrong. Probably you did not send the Byteballs to the given address in the chat bot message. This is a very common mistake many do at the beginning. On my first distribution I thought I did everything right but I only got Byteball and no Blackbyteballs. Then I learned I have to transfer my Byteball to the given address in order to receive BlackByteballs, too.

Not necessarily--Tony has not finished distributing blackbytes for this round.

The transition bot never asked me to send byteball to a given address, I don't know what you're referring to.

When you start, it asks for your BB address. I have the feeling people are giving it the wrong address and so it isn't being linked. If people would read the text that literally tells you step by step EXACTLY what to do, there would be zero issues. It couldn't be easier, seriously.

How P2P chat works in byteball? Is it some kind of "onchain" chat where all messages encrypted and stored in DAG?
Can it be used to chat with anyone in the network or it's restricted to my own devices only?

Now that the airdrop "fever" is passing. I have some questions about BLackbytes.

I mean, what are Blackbytes from technical perspective? I understand theres not blockchain for them so... what are those?
If there's no blockchain how do we know how many in total there are? How do we know they are "authentic"?
Any wiki or tutorial where I can read about it?

I want to understand what makes them so particular that you need to do a physical backup of them and can't recover them otherwise. It seems so different than the other tokens I am used to where you have a private/public key which you can use to restore everything.

Not stored in DAG, encrypted and traverses Byteball network, looking for its destination, stored at hubs for a configurable amount of time. You can chat with anyone, if you haved paired previously with the other device/person before - otherwise spam would be a problem.

While you are here: Could you explain how to use Byteball for IoT? My i7 notebook can't sync as a full node, what about tiny IoT devices then?

EDIT: It's not really that old, here is its configuration -

Weak fud, you can do better than that.  Cheesy

Due to legal team we cant release our PoC Byteball light-client on IoT.

Anyone with good programming skills can direct message me for hints.

Ok, I can wait, in the meanwhile I'll run syncing the 3rd time.

Surprisingly, shockingly, only the iota developer, former Nxt scammer, has this problem with Byteball.  Cheesy

If you can't sync I think the most likely issue is with your connection or with your firewall

My node downloaded several gigabytes of data, it's SQL DB engine which is the bottleneck.

Yes, i know, i gave the bot my Byteball address.  My Byteball address is linked.  I received my bytes (GBYTE), but not my blackbytes.  I don't think the distribution of blackbytes is finished because that hasn't been announced.

You didn't read what I wrote.  I am not asking about receiving bytes, i am only asking about blackbytes.

It's probably because I don't run the software on top-tier hardware. Majority of folks use light wallet, so they can use any hardware.
