in the next few days, we will see spikes in the price of GBYTE leading to the next airdrop. but with that much new GBYTE going into circulation, expect another drop in price after the airdrop.

Can you or someone please ELI5 how this coin works in brief?

he's arguing that people will want to buy GBYTE to get the 20% bytes bonus (plus blackbyte bonus), which will cause a spike in price before next snapshot.  then the price will dump right after snapshot when some people get their GBYTE and sell it.

market likely expects the dump after snapshot, and if it dumps >16.67% (1/6, ignoring GBB for this calculation) after snapshot, then its more profitable to make buys after snapshot.

personally, i expect choppy price until distribution is over (probably October), then a long bull market begins.

i partially disagree--i think market expects the dump after snapshot, and if it dumps >16.67% (1/6, ignoring GBB for this calculation) after snapshot, then its more profitable to make buys after snapshot.

i think he's referring to the coin overall. in which case someone better qualified than me will have to answer it.

i presume the question is - how does this coin  work?

not how the market dynamics work.

In this case it is probably the best to read the whitepaper: clear information first hand.
If one does not understand something, it is possible to ask focussed questions (slack: http://slack.byteball.org).

I think this pattern has happened before.

Copy and paste - the bot accepts the address (just like a BTC address), followed by the usual dialog

To find your BB-adresses with balance:
use cogwheel (next to the wallet name) -> advanced -> wallet information -> scroll down -> balance by adresses
Maybe also helpful: https://byteball.fr/BBdistribution.php

UPDATE :

899055 BTC linked  which will bring approx. : 56,190 gb

and we have 365,903gb in circulation which will bring : 73,180 gb more after airdrop

So

365,903+73,180+56,266= 495,273 Gb in total in circulation after give away.

That's 50% of all gbytes.

Yes i think in this rate we will have 3 more airdrops
.

Distribution :   0.0625 Gb for each 1 BTC of linked balance and 0.2 new byte for each 1 byte you already hold.
131.94375 MBB for each 1 BTC of linked balance and 0.42222 new Bbyte for each 1 byte you already hold (on linked addresses only).

Scheduled:   August 7, 2017 at 18:10 UTC

Time left:          5 Days 10h

Version 1.10.0 released https://github.com/byteball/byteball/releases

* Redesigned two pages used to create smart contracts: bind payment and offer contract.  Now they look more like contract prose rather than web forms.  They also reduce manual entry and validate input for a few known oracles (validation is not perfect but prevents the most obvious mistakes).

Thanks for upgrade. Looks more natural for user that previos design. Any action to promote Byteball platform to online and offline stores?

It appears the "new" entrant, BCC (BCH), beat it to that price on Bittrex.

Hi guys, i have a small problem which i hope you can help me out to solve. I had blackbytes on my windows computer. I recently swap to linux operating system but i also got a back up of my wallet before doing that. I did restore it now, but all i see is a 0 balance on my wallet. Did i loose all my blackbytes? Your help will be appreciated.

When you say backup, do you mean a copy of the byteball folder or the file made using the full backup option from the Byteball app?

Is there a difference in the end result? Which one is safer/better?

The backup from the full backup option is cross-platform, ie you can make a backup on Windows and restore from it on Linux. However, if you just take the byteball folder from a Windows machine and copy/paste it in the right directory on the Linux machine, it won't work.

Great. Not that I plan on leaving my Windows machine anytime soon but still good to know.

After upgrading the newest wallet with more flexible and advanced features and linked back my bitcoins. Now moving towards next distribution which is worth to take some free coins instead of waiting or being busy with other useless coins. I am stocking up more and more after every distribution till end will do.

BCH doors are closed for normal people. So price is much higher.

Wait and see when flood gate are opened. Dump with smile on the face.

how do you associate a new or specific Byteball address with the Blackbyte distribution?

or are you stuck with the default?Huh
Copy and paste - the bot accepts the address (just like a BTC address), followed by the usual dialog

To find your BB-adresses with balance:
use cogwheel (next to the wallet name) -> advanced -> wallet information -> scroll down -> balance by adresses
Maybe also helpful: https://byteball.fr/BBdistribution.php

Edit: added link

when i copy and paste my byte ball address it asks me sign a btc address to is as per the documentation.
so it does not re assign the black bytes address
Maybe a misunderstanding
There are two ways to participate in this distribution:
A. You link Bitcoin which you own or borrowed
B. You buy some Bytes (not Blackbytes !) or get them from a third party and have to link them (It is necessary to link the Bytes to receive also Blackbytes).

So there is no need to link an address where only blackbytes are located!
Blackbytes do not participate in the distribution, so their price (currently) is much lower.

To link a specific BB-address, send the BB-address to the bot via copy paste, then he will ask for the associated BTC address...
Linkin means to create a pairing from a BTC and one or more BB addresses: BB address <-> BTC address .
Once the BB-address is assigned to any BTC-address (can also be empty) this BB-address is linked.
(It is not about to send  a BB address anywhere or register it somewhere.)

The other way is, simply follow the bot dialog and then consolidate your bytes (not Blackbytes !) on the linked BB address. (The bot tells you the corresponding BB-address)

Summary:
Blackbytes do not participate in the distribution.
To link Bytes, you always need also a BTC address (..to make a pairing BB-address<->BTC-adress ...that's what we call linking).
The BTC-address can also be empty, the amounts on the BB address are then taken into account when the blackbytes are distributed (Bytes -> Blackbytes)
The linking of Bytes is only necessary to receive blackbytes as the blackbytes can not be distributed without linking due to their private properties.
If you try to assign a BTC address to several BB addresses, the BTC address is blacklisted.
