Careful with this version, while people report no major power increase, if you ever watched the gpu power consumption in gpu-z, you will see that each card has a power spike when it finishes a share (or something in the same ballpark). If you take the avg power consumption, it might look ok for the PSU, but those spikes, if they are done at the same time on most or all GPUs, even a relatively good PSU will make the system freeze or even shutdown.
Just to confirm, there are some big PSU spikes happening. Same here. I'm running 7 rx 480 on a single rig and had no problem with v.8. I've had to set -i 1 to stabilize the system. I'm using a Platinum EVGA psu, so its not that. Anyone have any insight? How much power for the PSU? The fact that it's platinum means very little. Well, my Platimax 1200 has problems ( freezes ) with 6 480's. No problem with 5 of them. PM shows 850 - ish @ the wall so not registering spikes I have 1300w evga gold and with 3 470-s it crashes. With gpu-z i had ~63w and spikes up to ~98w My 470 which is running on stock everything is ~69w and can spike up to 135w. thats one hell of a jump, could it have something to do with the difficulty of the share? (trying to think of anything that could explain it)

Did you connect each card to an individual pciex cable? so good

gpu-z show only power meter inside gpu proc, it is not all card power draw, only W at wall will show you truth, gpu-z show 98W for my rx 480 , but from wall i know it take at least 140W (power on load minus power on idle and divided by cards)

gpu-z show only power meter inside gpu proc, it is not all card power draw, only W at wall will show you truth, gpu-z show 108 W for my rx 480 , but from wall i know it take at least 220W (power on load minus power on idle and divided by cards) We all know that already, but the idea of using gpu-z is to monitor the actual spikes, not what values the spikes have. That's why I didn't provide any numbers besides psu rating when giving my example in a previous post.

So only with a high update rate wall meter you can tell. Are your cards overclocked/overvolted? Underclocked.... I have other PSUs, looks like Platimax is the most sensitive to this. HX1200i is just warmer but not freezing, Navitas 1250 too My Corsair AX 1200W monitoring software can see the spikes. they are also there in the V8. But V9 is more obvious.

HWInfo show 2 power draw, maybe is more accurate on spikes

Tahiti still rules. Power efficiency? NO. Compute efficiency? YES I unified GPU clocks and MEM bandwidth - both cards with core@1050 and bandwidth 256 GB/s Sapphire 7950 Elpida, 28 CU, 1792 shaders - 200 h/s, 150W at wall Sapphire 480 Samsung, 36 CU, 2304 shaders - 195 h/s, 95W at wall Shame on you, Ellesmere. Now I want to solder Samsung chips on my Tahiti cards

Tahiti still rules. Power efficiency? NO. Compute efficiency? YES Old news and it's been this way for a long time. Newer gen cards are producing similiar hash rates and using considerably less power.

To all having PSU issues/reboot/freeze/shutdown, I suggest keeping the same settings as in Clay V8, but modifying power limit in AB to 80% for each card, see if it happens. If it's stable, also check if hashing speed is lower. I am not at home to try this.

I resetted my underclock and it is still working. Claymore should fix this spiking issue, it's not normal.

This probably isn't the best way or most accurate to measure power usage but im too lazy to hookup the Kill-a-watt. ASUS 280X on Version 8 ASUS 280X on Version 9 Radeon 7950 on Version 8 Radeon 7950 on Version 9

Exactly. Still, looking at those figures I feel Ellesmere should be doing something like 250-260 h/s at 1050 MHz. Or there is some Open CL catch that is holding compute performance at lower levels? All this masqueraded by higher GPU and MEM clocks .......

With Corsair PSUs, using corsair link it is quite easy to see the spikes. With v9, there's some wonky things going on at the same v8 intensity levels. Can you post a screenshot of your graph, is it similar to this? https://www.dropbox.com/s/vytirsz36lntbee/Screenshot%202016-12-08%2017.08.48.png?dl=0(RM1000i with 6 RX480s in this rig) which software you use for this graph? edit: downloaded Corsair Link but cannot find option for graph like on your picture

5x470 v8.0->900H/s v9.0->1030H/s nice speed up!!! but... 1000W Navitas gold with 4 undervolted, underclocked (1200/950) 470-s it crashes. i try start v9.0 miner with power limit -35 and -i 4 but no changes, after 1-20 min work system turn off. temporary back to v8.0, with 5x470(~1280/990 -i 6) work stable 5 year old Tagan TG500-U33 with athlon 64 x2, 2Gb ram and 2x290 v9.0 -i 8 ~500H/s cvoltage -37 powlimit+10 1070core/1300mem work absolutly stable
