Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Mooncoin? Very meaningful name, but also very easy to be remembered, do not know where its main battlefield? Will the price go to the moon too?

Announcement:

an experienced programmer and a crypto dev Vassilis Kritharakis from Crete Island
agreed to become a Mooncoin developer.
He earlier worked with Burst (BURST). Now he will help adjust the Mooncoin wallet, made by barrysty1e,
organise the fork, contact exchanges etc.
We are thankful to barrysty1e (James) for his work.
Barrysty1e is an experienced dev. But he is very busy, and sometimes doesn't communicate for weeks and months.
To be sure that the fork will happen and everything will be okay with the network,
we (and big exchanges that potentially can list MOON) need a dev who will support Mooncoin and be available 24/7.

Vassilis is a transparent dev. He provided his phone number, other contact details,
besides, one of the oldest Mooncoin supporters knows him in real life (he lives in a same town with him).
Also Vassilis will implement SmartLikes.

Vassilis Kritharakis is currently working at the new Mooncoin Github:
https://github.com/mooncoincore

Stay tuned.

There will be more wallets in upcoming months - with a new dev.
For now you can use the wallet, compiled by pollforall ( a person who is currently working on online Mooncoin wallet)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1733963.msg17711755#msg17711755
don't forget to update it before the fork.

People yet have to realize:
Mooncoin gives a lot of opportunities to talented people.
Join MOON, don't waste your time on coins which are not known.
Mooncoin is legendary. MONA, VTC are old mineable coins, they are like MOON except their communities are smaller.
They just have got somehow several big investors and now you can see what market caps they have reached at the moment.

Hi,
Since earlier today when I downloaded and started using the Mooncoin Core version v0.13.3.0-c2f0e0e-dirtysegwit (64-bit) wallet my wallet is not synchronizing. It is stuck at block 1171452. At the time I am writing this there are 1171646 blocks, so I'm about 6 hours behind. I show 6 connections to the network but the wallet says "No block source available".

Thanks

Don't use the 0.13.3 wallet version unless your intent is to help with testing.

A very warm welcome to Vassilis! :-) Please feel free to drop in to the Discord sometime (https://discord.gg/Hhbmdjd) and introduce yourself. I'll drop you a DM/PM soon to get you oriented with the DAF (Developer Assistance Fund) and etc.

Does this mean the reigns have been handed over totally to Vassilis from barry now? Or is this now a developer team? I've had a few people ask so I figured I should get some clarification.

MOON has no reigns,
and the original Mooncoin dev disappeared in 2014 after reporting health issues,
the problem with barrysty1e (who joined development in 2016), he doesn't communicate.
Also he didn't update his Github since November, 2 to fix important issues.
SmartLikes could be implemented even this summer. No progress.
MOON could be listed at big exchanges. No progress.
We wanted barrysty1e did it, and were waiting since summer.
Now the community (not me, btw) has found a transparent and experienced dev who is able and wants to do this work.
I saw that we needed progress, I announced this dev. I don't know why his recent posts at Bitcointalk were deleted.
Perhaps someone has contacted a BTCtalk mod and has asked to delete these posts.
So the question is will the work finally be done or not, not about 'reigns'. Hope a new dev will be able to work and to post at Bitcointalk with no attacks against him.

I asked if the 'reigns' were being handed over OR if a dev team is being formed now that there is another dev seriously interested
in working on Mooncoin. There were a few reasons I asked this, the first being this part of your last PM to me:

'Now the dev is found and he started working, and barrysty1e remains a dev, but he often doesn't communicate and doesn't care, a
new coder will help adjust the code, organize the fork, and will be more available for communicating.'

When you used the word "help", I assumed it was because there had already been a conversation between you, barry, and the new
dev (or any combination thereof) and that barry's work that has already been completed would be handed off or shared between
them. Barry has mentioned before that he was wanting a dev to assist with modifying/designing wallet interfaces; I thought this was it.

Is it my understanding that no communication has happened between any of you regarding the new dev and that he's here to
take Mooncoin in his own direction? I ask this with zero hostility; I just want to be clear and get facts.
