More than 100 shops and restaurants where you can pay through Lightning in Arnhem Bitcoin City (Netherlands) .

https://www.arnhembitcoinstad.nl/

Now in the rest of the country  Shocked
Rotterdam, den haag and Amsterdam

The Arnhem story is crazy imo, the city was already super Pro BTC years ago, damn that community was fast @the party!

It's great that a city has many merchants that accept Bitcoin, the only thing missing in this, is barely anyone is spending their Bitcoins to buy things. Everybody just in hodl mode. If we want true adoption start spending and paying for things in BTC.

I’m going to be honest here - I’ve been invested in bitcoin (and constantly buying) since 2014.

I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything with bitcoin.

I mean I’ve gambled with bitcoin then sold some & rebought but I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything with bitcoin. I know I’ve never done it physically in a shop or something.

Shit I've spent too much, but it does help the holding during the bear market as the mentality is "fuck it, I've already gotten enough out of this investment even if it goes to zero" so the hodl strength is Strong.

Just looked at your registration date.....2012.....

I bet you bought a shit tonne of sickeningly cheap bitcoin’s back then ans/or mined) Grin

After you
I most definitely will, next time I visit Arnhem. The thing is when a merchant who accepts Bitcoin, has not received many transactions with BTC, they tend to forget the action required to make a Bitcoin payment. Which makes the whole process of paying with Bitcoin irl slow.

I think the majority of people in crypto have not done a real life transaction. I hope the app made by Jack Dorsey will help change this in USA at least.

If you don't recognize the authority of the govt to spy on you, how is that different from my non-recognition of the authority of the US govt on the merit of it's overrun with Jews and blacks, and white people refuse to be 'governed' by either group since:  blacks - incompetent.  Jews - thieves/murderers/scammers/chronic liars.  Like white people will ever accept the authority of Mulatto babboons like AOC? LOL.  She can go fuck herself.

I've bought many things online but to be perfectly honest its just too much of a hassle to use in real stores in my area.  Its usually an area that claims to accept btc but the cashier doesn't know how it works and has to get help from the owner, and the worst is if they make you wait for a confirmation even though it is a 10 dollar transaction.  Would rather just use my card and be in and out.

You know what, that's a smart owner!
if you are going to go to a store and be economical on the fees, you pay the price... ''WYSIWYG''(what you spend is what you get) Tongue
The store owner might have had some bad experience with this and chose to go with the basics of waiting for atleast 1 confirmation, which is okay with me because you have to account for any possible double spending that can cancel out the first transaction and you are left with a negative 10 dollars. So better safe than sorry.

Would rather just use my card and be in and out.
Hope this doesn't count as advertising other service providers but wirex can save you with the same service as your visa or mastercard provider, just exchange you btc to fiat before getting to the store.

The immutability of the 1MB blocksize still stands if we throw out the word "protocol". Satoshi knew that once he slipped that blocksize limit into the core client, it would be there forever, and become the de facto standard in all bitcoin software implementations. That's why Garzik and the others were opposed to it at the time. Satoshi said that it was temporary, but he knew enough about game theory to realize 1MB blocks would become a Schelling Point within the bitcoin network if it was left in the core client long enough.

I agree fully with the above but unfortunately the 1MB block size has already been abandoned when segwit was introduced. This wasn't a prerequisite of segwit at all so it's a real shame and a real danger of having set a precedent (at least in the minds of some) for another increase in the future.

I hope there will never be another increase as every increase exponentially reduces the effective security of the network.

Segwit was a soft fork not a hard fork. Nothing was abandoned as its all 100% backwards compatible

-people realising bitcoin is not for coffee or pizza - again

I will see your bet and raise you.  You say a lowly pizza or coffee is just not important enough to be permanently stored in some gigantic, tragedy of the commons database eternally.  In fact, NO TRANSACTION is.  Nor would you want your financial history sitting out in the open for everyone to see in the first place while simultaneously abolishing the 5th amendment.  Which is why these people called 'the goyim' invented a new technology called physical metals.  It has built-in pruning, fully anonymous transactions, infinite scaling, and far higher security than Bitcoin with total immunity to 51% attack.

Even if you have a good plan and you largely follow your plan, there can still be a decent amount of trepidation during the process of the BTC price going UP like a bat out of hell...

-snip-

So build the shaving/skimming into the plan. That's all I'm saying.

This is Bitcoin. If your plan does not consider the possibility that the price overshoots by at least an order of magnitude more than you -- in your wildest dreams -- would dare to hope, then u r doing it rong.

Absolutely... while I would be highly surprised to see 6 digits anytime soon, my plan does allow for prices all the way up to 1MM.   (( past 1MM.. its just a snarky notation that says "hookers and blow"  Grin ))

I have absolutely zero trepidation following my plan..

Let your logical self make the plan..  then when the price goes bonkers, your emotional self can trust that your logical self knew what he was doing and you can just sit back and enjoy the ride..

worked for me just fine in 2017.
