Also, he somehow managed to go from >100m to 4m during the financial crisis, which makes his calls... questionable.

His calls are total shit. Doge crashed ever since he made it his coin of the week on 8 Jan. Shorting his coin of the week will make you rich. Taking his advice will make you rekt.

Yeah I was watching his calls to see if there were any predictable patterns. But I ended up too lazy to accumulate random shit just to short his calls and sticked with my usual strategy instead. Still waiting to see how the ICOs he endorses turn out in the future. As far as I'm aware he takes a ~30% cut of the raised funds plus another 30% of the tokens for his shilling, and with those numbers I wouldn't expect too much due diligence on his part.

You guys missed the memo!

McAfee's account was hacked.  He says he NEVER does the Coin of the Week.
I would say that too after such a colossal failure. Initially he was inviting people to hack him, then he "got hacked briefly and regained access" and now it's him never having done any calls? How convenient after nothing took off.

I'm not sure what is really going with him, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was just far too doused in bath salts.

I would like a place with nice weather Wink where I may eventually retire.
The whole ERTH thing started to get on my nerves. Too much crap all over.
I would like to have an ability to be left pretty much alone with my immediate family, yet maintain some western style comforts.
Too much to ask?
I'm thinking of planning out my own home/property that is entirely self-sustained for everything relevant.

Salmon pond/lake, perhaps shrimps if you can raise them "at home" somehow to feed the salmon (and myself). Have the water somehow create a cycle that cools the Bitcorn farm that is powered by state of the art solar panels with the excess heat warming a greenhouse with herbs and "herbs" all of which get watered by the lake-water cycle. Perhaps have some animals dicking around for eggs and meat (especially if private labs become a possibility). Then the obvious spa/pool/sauna, a gym, a home arcade, theatre, music room, a racing track(?) and other frivolous luxuries that are available and viable. Turns out private live-in chefs are relatively cheap too at 20 to 40k a year. And then just occasionally leave the property for travel.

Sounds good, plus some kind of cloaking mechanism?

Started to dream when we were higher up, its not that far away again now.   Smiley

Do not neglect the WO guest facilities!
How does one go about this without fucking their OpSec though?

Why's the doge tweet not been deleted if he "got hacked" and has now regained control of his account?

https://twitter.com/officialmcafee/status/950367832642113538?lang=en

edit

According to rt he does do a coin of the week. He stopped doing a coin of the day just before the "hack" and swapped to doing a coin of the week.

https://www.rt.com/news/414497-mcafee-twitter-hacked-cryptocurrency/

Quote
Cryptocurrency enthusiast and cybersecurity pioneer John McAfee claims that his Twitter account was compromised by an unknown offender who fraudulently promoted “undervalued” digital coins to his thousands of followers.

The now deleted tweets imitated his ‘coin of the day’ posts, which the cyber security expert stopped posting a few days ago, indicating instead that he will write each Monday on a “coin of the week.”

According to Kredit Karma, almost no one is reporting cryptocurrency gains on their taxes.

It should be noted, that most of Kredit Karma's customers are people with bad credit. One could speculate that they likely haven't bought crypto anyway.

I think this news is premature.  Most crypto holders will file as late as possible since they are writing big checks.  I will send my check TUESDAY.  After then we can begin to see who is reporting.  Also this does not consider extensions.

That said I'll not be surprised if we see underreporting.  But numbers we see now are too early.

Again, I could be way out of line here, but look at this for a minute. And this is the cream of the crop. There are 'conferences' all over the place, doing 'talks'
Really? Is this Bitcoin now? 'FinTech'. Give me one good reason.
It's not amazing.

Seems like even those conferences are into bands. A crypto band?

I paid mine. Long and tedious, especially with the high amount of bitcoin spending I do.

I didn't use any bitcoin tools to do so so it took a lot of hand jamming.

I remember when social awareness was just called education. Or being educated.

But I guess it's not PC to say someone is educated because there are soooo many stupid people out there that at most they can be aware of things.

I kind of agree, but I still think lots aren't reporting at all.  I called my accountant ahead of time and he said that unless they send out official 1099s from an exchange he wouldn't worry about it (as if it were a joke to file).  I then explained that I did receive a 1099 (from one exchange) and had a compiled a 319 page 8949 using API software and bottom line figures  (which had a few missing cost basis items from a DEX and a wallet but whatever, I may have overpaid a couple of hundred dollars).  The perception is, right or wrong, that people will continue getting away with it.  I'm more afraid of getting future audits years from now over getting caught currently if I didn't file.  I also feel like because of the things I've read online, his reaction, and the sheer amount of effort it takes to even create these forms.. that most people won't know it is required, refuse to do it, or won't know how to with no one to approach including most accountants.  The timing though does line up with your statement though because I just today wrote a check for the amount of taxes I owed.. and even though I think the number of people who waited til today or Tuesday is in the minority..  I am one of them so my logic may be flawed.

There was an Ebola Coin once. Not exactly sure where the proceeds went, but it raised social awareness about the Ebola. Probably.

No it's not amazing. Just a bunch of young people doing a mindshare grab for "Blockchain expert" just to find a high paying job somewhere. I only count about 2-3 people in that roster that I would consider actual crypto experts.

But hey it could be worse. Just wait, in 5-10 years when you see a speaker lineup like that and it's all 40-50 yr old men and women in suits with the "Executive such and such of Blockchain" title, you'll know the crypto/blockchain industry has been completely taken over and compromised by the FinTech nimwit snake oil sales and marketing people.
